  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a walking program developed by applying the flow learning method in order to improve children's attitude toward nature and their empathy ability among other five-year-olds. Methods: A total of 49 five-year-olds attending classes at two kindergartens located in B city participated in this study. There were 24 children in the comparative group and 25 children in the experimental group. Before and after the program, all participants individually took a child's nature-friendly attitude test and rated their empathy ability with a teacher. Using the SPSS 25.0 version program, data were analyzed by conducting means, standard deviation, t-test, and ANCOVA(Analysis of Covariance). Results: Children who participated in the walking program using flow learning showed significantly higher nature-friendly attitudes than those of the comparative group. And empathy abilities in the experimental group were higher than in the comparative group in all areas. Conclusion/Implications: The results of this study suggest that a walking program applying flow learning is effective in improving young children's nature-friendly attitude and their empathy abilities.

  • Fashion designs reflect the trend of the times embedded within the cultural structures of eastern and western civilizations as well as the traditional styles. However, the motives in fashion designs fundamentally come from human beings' willingness for creation through deep understand of nature or using symbolism and artificial esthetic appreciation. Mankind has expressed their willingness for creation through speculation not with the attitude of conquering nature but by acknowledging the flow between their lives and nature. The purpose of this paper is to investigate human beings' transcendental and embracing attitude toward the natural environment and the human environment in fashion design. In natural environment factors, sublimity toward nature's marvelous powers and the transcending state of mind within happiness and delight or the extreme fear or unavoidable coerciveness and the consequential daunting feelings and smallness, and sorrow all stimulate the will of mental speculation and cause a transcending sublimity. A sublime state of mind does not exist in a superficial framework of enjoyment. It is rather an act of transcendence and embracement residing in a sublime object and leading man's spirit into a state of philosophical thought. Also, in man-made Environment factors, we found from magnanimity we were ability to see the true nature of an era's culture.

  • This study investigates the collective aspects of hunting motivation and hunters' attitude toward natural environment. Data were collected from three different types of respondents : 148 hunters who purchased hunting license between November 1992 and March 1993 in Cholla Province. 120 university students and 260 Suwon residents. The 26 items out of 90 items were selected to develop an attitude scale toward natural environment. Results of ANOVA revealed that there were significant differences among five groups(hunters, urban residents and students from 3 major fields) in terms of their attitude values. Hunters' attitude value toward natural environment was the highest among five different types of respondents. Two major motives for hunting participation are 'exercise' and 'like out-of-doors'. Factor analysis presents eight motivational dimensions underlying hunter's involvement in the activities: 1)stewardship, 2)social contact, 3)show-off, 4)sportsmanship, 5)like to kill, 6)recreation/relax, 7)economic gain, and 8)being alone. The correlation between the motivational factor of 'economic gain' and the attitudinal item of 'relationship between man and nature' was negative(r=-0.28). There is a positive correlation(r=0.24) between the motivation of 'being alone' and the attitude of 'needs for natural environment'. These relationships indicate that individual's attitude value decreases when one perceives nature as economic goods, while it increases when one visits nature to relieve stress and to develop self-esteem.

  • The present study applies the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) to investigate the factors that affect the intention to use the mobile payment services. For this purpose five potential variables (perceived usefulness, perceived convenience, ubiquity, innovativeness, and safety risk) that are expected to affect the intention to use the mobile payment services were selected. An online survey was administered, and 339 questionnaires were analyzed. Structure Equation Model (SEM) Analysis revealed that TAM variables (perceived usefulness and perceived convenience) partially influenced the attitude. The perceived usefulness predicted the attitude while perceived convenience did not predict the attitude toward the mobile payment service. Personal characteristics variable (innovativeness) and mobile nature variables (ubiquity, and security risk) were identified as the predictors of the attitude toward the mobile payment service. While innovativeness and ubiquity affected the attitude positively, security risk affected the attitude negatively. Finally, the analysis substantiated the influence of attitude toward the mobile payment services on the intention to use the services. On the basis of findings, managerial implications and suggestions for further studies were discussed.

  • This study explores the effect of moral identity on attitude toward and purchase intention of upcycled fashion products by comparing purchasers and non-purchasers. Data from 127 purchasers and 307 non-purchasers collected through a survey was analyzed using descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, model invariance check, and multiple-group comparison tests using Amos 23.0. Results indicate consumers with purchase experiences of upcycled fashion products showed a higher level of moral identity (internalization and symbolization), positive attitude toward upcycled fashion products, and purchase intention than did consumers with no purchase experience. In model tests, internalization affected attitude toward purchasing upcycled fashion products, whereas symbolization affected purchase intention, regardless of purchase experience. The effect of symbolization on purchase intention was consistent with prior studies focusing on charity behaviors that are highly visible to others. These findings demonstrate that fashion products are visible and symbolic, so it should be carefully considered in ethical consumption studies. From these results, researchers may obtain insights on the process of how consumers apply moral identity to their purchase intention regarding upcycled fashion products. Likewise, marketers may enhance satisfaction of consumers with a high level of symbolization by putting special tags and logos that clearly highlight the products' upcycled nature.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop 'Science History Based Chemist Inquiry Program' for the science-gifted in high school and investigated the application effects on the understanding toward the nature of science, scientific attitudes, and science career orientation. This study was conducted with one class of 17 scientifically gifted high school students, and the 'Science History Based Chemist Inquiry Program' was applied during 22 class hours. The results of this study were as follows: First, the science gifted students' understanding toward the nature of science showed a statistically significant improvement (approximate significance probability .005). Property of the scientific model, sub-domain of the nature of science, is significantly improved (approximate significance probability .029). This result show that 'Science History Based Chemist Inquiry Program' can improve the scientifically gifted high school students' perception about nature of science. Second, the scientifically gifted students' scientific attitude wasn't changed significantly. However, the openness and creativity in the sub-domains of the scientific attitude showed a statistically significant improvement (p<.05). Third, science career orientation of science-gifted did not show a statistically significant change. But the value of the level of awareness about the science career has been significantly improved (p<.05).

  • This study investigated the effects of small group drawing in learning the concepts of particulate nature of matter. Three classes of seventh graders (N = 126) at a coed middle school were randomly assigned to a pair drawing group, an individualistic drawing group, and a control group. The students were taught the 'three states of matter' and 'motion of molecules' for eight class periods. Prior to these classes, student self-efficacy, learning motivation, and attitude toward science instruction were examined. After instruction, tests assessing achievement, conception, learning motivation, and attitude toward science instruction were administered. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that scores of achievement and conception for the pair drawing group were significantly higher than those for the control group. However, scores of the three groups did not significantly differ in learning motivation and attitude toward science instruction. Furthermore, no significant interactions surfaced between instruction and the level of self-efficacy in all dependent variables.
