  • Shape memory alloys(SMAs) have revolutionized the material engineering sciences as they exhibit exclusive features i.e. shape memory effect(SME) and super-elasticity. SMAs are those alloys that when deform return to their predeformed shape upon heating, they also restore their original shape by removing the load. Research on properties of newly advent of several types of ferrous based shape memory alloys(Fe-SMAs), shows that they have immense potential to be the counterpart of Nitinol(NiTi-SMA). These Fe-SMAs have been used and found to be effective because of their low cost, high cold workability, good weldability & excellent characteristics comparing with Nitinol(high processing cost and low cold workability) SMAs. Some of the Fe-SMAs show super-elasticity. Fe-SMAs, especially Fe-Mn-Si alloys have an immense potential for civil engineering structures because of its unique properties e.g. two-way shape memory effect, super elasticity and shape memory effect as well as due to its low cost, high elastic stiffness and wide transformation hysteresis comparative to Nitinol. Further research is being conducted on SMAs to improve and impinge better attributes by improving the material compositions, quantifying the SMA phase transition temperature etc. In this research pre-existing Fe-SMAs are categorised and collected in a tabulated form. An analysis is performed that which category is mostly available. Last 50 years data of Fe-SMA publications and US Patents is collected to show its importance in terms of increasing research on such type of alloys to invent different compositions and applications. This data is analysed as per different year groups during last 50 years and it was analysed as per whether the keywords exist in title of an article or anywhere in the article. It was found that different keywords related to Fe-SMAs/categories of Fe-SMAs, almost don't exist in the title of articles. However, these keywords related to Fe-SMAs/categories of Fe-SMAs, exist inside the article but still there are not too many publications related to Fe-SMAs/categories of Fe-SMAs.

  • Blockchain technology has emerged as one of the most crucial solutions in numerous industries, including healthcare. The combination of blockchain technology and cloud computing results in improving access to high-quality telemedicine and healthcare services. In addition to developments in healthcare, the operational strategy outlined in Vision 2030 is extremely essential to the improvement of the standard of healthcare in Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this survey is to give a thorough analysis of the current state of healthcare technologies that are based on blockchain and cloud computing. We highlight some of the unanswered research questions in this rapidly expanding area and provide some context for them. Furthermore, we demonstrate how blockchain technology can completely alter the medical field and keep health records private; how medical jobs can detect the most critical, dangerous errors with blockchain industries. As it contributes to develop concerns about data manipulation and allows for a new kind of secure data storage pattern to be implemented in healthcare especially in telemedicine fields is discussed diagrammatically.

  • One of the most significant issues in combinatorial optimization is the classical NP-complete conundrum known as the 0/1 Knapsack Problem. This study delves deeply into the investigation of practical solutions, emphasizing two classic algorithmic paradigms, brute force, and dynamic programming, along with the metaheuristic and nature-inspired family algorithm known as the Genetic Algorithm (GA). The research begins with a thorough analysis of the dynamic programming technique, utilizing its ability to handle overlapping subproblems and an ideal substructure. We evaluate the benefits of dynamic programming in the context of the 0/1 Knapsack Problem by carefully dissecting its nuances in contrast to GA. Simultaneously, the study examines the brute force algorithm, a simple yet comprehensive method compared to Branch & Bound. This strategy entails investigating every potential combination, offering a starting point for comparison with more advanced techniques. The paper explores the computational complexity of the brute force approach, highlighting its limitations and usefulness in resolving the 0/1 Knapsack Problem in contrast to the set above of algorithms.

  • Background: There are many methods of evaluating diaphragmatic function, including trans-diaphragmatic pressure measurements, which are considered the key rule of diagnosis. We studied the clinical usefulness of chest ultrasonography in evaluating stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients and those in exacerbation, focusing on diaphragmatic measurements and their correlation with spirometry and other clinical parameters. Methods: In a prospective case-control study, we enrolled 100 COPD patients divided into 40 stable COPD patients and 60 patients with exacerbation. The analysis included 20 age-matched controls. In addition to the clinical assessment of the study population, radiological evaluation included chest radiographs and chest computed tomography. Transthoracic ultrasonography (TUS) was performed for all included subjects. Results: Multiple A lines (more than 3) were more frequent in COPD exacerbation than in stable patients, as was the case for B-lines. TUS significantly showed high specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and accuracy in detecting pleural effusion, consolidation, pneumothorax, and lung mass. Diaphragmatic measurements were significantly lower among stable COPD subjects than healthy controls. Diaphragmatic thickness and excursion displayed a significant negative correlation with body mass index and the dyspnea scale, and a positive correlation with spirometry measures. Patients in Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) group D showed lower diaphragmatic measurements (thickness and excursion). Conclusion: The TUS of COPD patients both in stable and exacerbated conditions and the assessment of diaphragm excursion and thickness by TUS in COPD patients and their correlations to disease-related factors proved informative and paved the way for the better management of COPD patients.

  • In this era of information and communication technology (ICT), tremendous improvements have been witnessed in our daily lives. The impact of these technologies is subjective and negative or positive. For instance, ICT has brought a lot of ease and versatility in our lifestyles, on the other hand, its excessive use brings around issues related to physical and mental health etc. In this study, we are bridging these both aspects by proposing the idea of AI based mental healthcare (AIMS). In this regard, we aim to provide a platform where the patient can register to the system and take consultancy by providing their assessment by means of a chatbot. The chatbot will send the gathered information to the machine learning block. The machine learning model is already trained and predicts whether the patient needs a treatment by classifying him/her based on the assessment. This information is provided to the mental health practitioner (doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, or therapist) as clinical decision support. Eventually, the practitioner will provide his/her suggestions to the patient via the proposed system. Additionally, the proposed system prioritizes care, support, privacy, and patient autonomy, all while using a friendly chatbot interface. By using technology like natural language processing and machine learning, the system can predict a patient's condition and recommend the right professional for further help, including in-person appointments if necessary. This not only raises awareness about mental health but also makes it easier for patients to start therapy.

  • Background: This study explored the knowledge and awareness about colorectal cancer (CRC) among undergraduate students of one of the leading universities in Saudi Arabia, along with the mode of information access. Materials and Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted at the King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, among students of different faculties. The study questionnaire, containing 28 items, was adapted from surveys identified in the relevant literature. The CRC awareness questionnaire consisted of an awareness section (early CRC signs and symptoms, and risk factors) and a knowledge section. The data were analyzed using the SPSS version 21.0. Results: A total of 525 undergraduate students participated in the study. The majority were females (63.0%) and approximately half (56.8%) were medical students. The majority of the students (82.3%) were aware of CRC, and 68% thought that CRC is a preventable disease. Regarding colorectal cancer screening tests, only one-third of students (33%) had actual knowledge, while the majority of the students (77.0%) thought that there are tests which help in early detection. Only 4% of the participants had a family history of CRC. The majority of the participants (84%) thought that CRC is a disease that can be cured. Almost 50-60% participants had good awareness level regarding risk factors, and signs and symptoms. Regarding knowledge, participant responses varied for family history (52%), age (59%), chronic infection of the colon (72%), obesity and lack of exercise (66%). More than one-third of the students had received information material regarding CRC from their curriculum followed by social media (20.4%), and nearly 40% from other sources such as TV, hospital and mass media. Female participants had significantly better awareness in a few questions regarding CRC awareness as compared to their male counterparts. There was a significant difference observed between medical and non-medical students (p<0.001) in overall score of awareness and knowledge about CRC while no significant difference found in gender-wise comparison. Conclusions: Knowledge and awareness of students about CRC were not up to the mark. Medical students and female students had better knowledge in a few areas, but the overall situation is dismal.

  • Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has been reported to be associated with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, including All-trans-retinoic acid (ATTA). ATRA is very efficaceous drug to acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). This drug can induce complete remission at APL without fatal risk of disseminated intravascular coagulation. But ATRA treatment, sometimes, produces the symptoms of fever, weight gain and acute respiratory distress, renal function impairment. The causes of these symptoms are not fully proved, but supposed as the result of leukostasis and capillary leak syndrome from excessive leukocyte differentiation and cytokines release. Recently, we experienced a 24-year-old woman who complained gum bleeding for 6 days. At bone marrow biopsy, she was diagnosed as APL. 2 days after ATRA treatment, she was suffered from the symptoms of dyspnea and general ache. At laboratory examination, total leukocyte count was 50,400/$mm^3$, $PaO_2$ was 42.5 mm Hg and chest PA revealed the findings compatible with ARDS. Treatment with low dose ara-C, corticosteroid and general supportive cares were tried. Within 3 days after treatment, the patient recovered from ARDS by evidence of arterial blood gas study and chest radiographs. She has acquired complete remission of APL with maintenance of A TRA. And so, we present this case with a review of related literatures.

  • Objective: The study was designed to investigate the effects of restraint method, restraint duration, and body weight on stress-linked hormones (corticosterone, adrenaline, and noradrenaline), blood biochemical (namely glucose and lactate), and the meat quality in broiler chickens. Methods: A total of 120 male broiler chickens (Cobb 500) were assigned to a $2{\times}3{\times}2$ factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design using two restraint methods (shackle and cone), three durations of restraint (10, 30, and 60 s), and two categories of live body weight ($1.8{\pm}0.1kg$ as lightweight and $2.8{\pm}0.1kg$ as heavyweight). Results: Irrespective of the duration of restraint and body weight, the coned chickens were found to have lower plasma corticosterone (p<0.01), lactate (p<0.001), lower meat drip loss (p<0.01), cooking loss (p<0.05), and higher blood loss (p<0.05) compared with their shackled counterparts. The duration of restraint had significant effects on the meat initial pH (p<0.05), ultimate pH (p<0.05), and yellowness (p<0.01). The lightweight broilers exhibited higher (p<0.001) blood loss and lower (p<0.05) cooking loss compared to the heavyweight broilers, regardless of the restraint method used and the duration of restraint. However, the interaction between the restraint method, duration of restraint, and body weight contributed to differences in pre-slaughter stress and meat quality. Therefore, the interaction between the restraint method and the duration of restraint affected the meat shear force, lightness ($L^*$) and redness ($a^*$). Conclusion: The duration of restraint and body weight undoubtedly affect stress responses and meat quality of broiler chickens. Regardless of the duration of restraint and body weight, the cone restraint resulted in notably lower stress, lower meat water loss, and higher blood loss compared to shackling. Overall, the findings of this study showed that restraint method, duration of restraint, and body weight may affect the stress response and meat quality parameters in broilers and should be considered independently or interactively in future studies.
