플라이애시 품질이 시멘트 페이스트 레올로지 특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Fly Ash Quality on Rheological Properties of Cement Paste)

  • 플라이애시는 시멘트 계열 재료의 혼화재료로서 널리 사용되고 있는 재료이다. 다만, 플라이애시는 화력발전소의 석탄재를 포집하여 정제과정을 거친 재료로서 정제과정의 에너지 소모 및 유통과정에서의 품질 확보가 중요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 플라이애시 생산과정 중 발생하는 세 가지 종류의 다른 품질의 석탄재를 대상으로 각각의 입자조건과 시멘트 페이스트 상태에서 레올로지 거동을 평가하였다. 실험결과 리젝트 애시는 작은 석탄재 입자가 응집되어 굳어진 다공질의 큰 입자로 구성되어 있었고, 그러한 이유로 시멘트 페이스트에 포함될 경우 공기량이 높게 측정되는 경향이 나타났다. 유동성 측면에서는 석탄재가 치환되는 경우 유동성이 증진되는 양상을 보였으며 특히 점도 측면에서는 입자조건에 따라 점도를 조정할 수도 있었다.

소나무재와 고추나무대재 합성에 관한 연구 (Synthesis of Pine Tree Ash and Red Pepper Stem Ash)

  • The development of Korean glaze originated from the development of ash glazes. Ash not only has strong solubility but also can shows the glaze a variety of different colors according to what the glaze has in it as the main component. In addition, it gives a feeling of lucidness and softness. For these reasons, there are a lot of needs for ash and many potters want to take advantage of ashes as glaze. But natural ashes have not been widely used as glaze primarily because it is relatively hard to find or manufacture. Considering the difficulty of finding or manufacturing natural ashes, this study aims to formulate synthetic ash which not only is available to the potters in general but also has the sam ε characteristics as the natural ashes. To achieve this aim, this study examines the characteristics of the pine tree ash, the main component of the glaze of celadon porcelains, and the red pepper stem ash, the main component of the brown glaze, both of which have been used by the Korean traditional potters. In this study, the alkaline component of the glaze. A important ingredient when the ashes are synthesized, was supplied by mixing of $Na_2CO_3$, Chungju limestone and rice straw ash. Furthermore, the synthetic ash, when it shows no change of pH in its composition rate of 6:2:2, was found to be usable as the most stable material. In conclusion, the formula which frits some raw $materials-Na_2CO_3$, Chungju limestone and rice straw ash-can duplicate the synthetic ash which is simila to the natural ash.

Fly Ash가 토양(土壤)의 물화학성(物化學性)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of fly ash on the physico-chemical properties)

  • Fly ash가 토양(土壤)의 화학성(化學性) 및 물리성(物理性)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 규명(糾明)하기 위하여 Fly ash를 증류수(蒸溜水) 및 0.5N-acetic acia로 추출하여 각종 무기성분(無機成分)의 용출량(溶出量)을 측정(測定)하고 Fly ash를 토양(土壤)에 처리(處理)한 경우 토양물리성(土壤物理性)의 변화(變化)를 조사(調査)하였다. Fly ash의 주요결정광물(主要結晶鑛物)은 mullite와 석영(石英)이었다. 증류수(蒸溜水)보다 Acetic acid로 Fly ash를 추출(抽出)할 경우 훨씬 많은 양(量)의 무기성분(無機成分)이 용출(溶出)되었다. 이때 Si 및 Al는 증류수(蒸溜水)에 의(依)해서 거의 용출(溶出)되지 않았다. 토양(土壤)의 투수성(透水性) 및 포장용수량(圃場容水量)은 Fly ash를 토양(土壤)에 10% 이하(以下) 첨가(添加)하면 향상(向上)되었으나 그 이상(以上) 처리시(處理時)에는 저하(低下)되었다. 토양(土壤)의 신축성(伸縮性) 및 경도(硬度)는 Fly ash를 10% 이하(以下)로 처리(處理)할 경우 큰 영향(影響)을 받지 않았다.

석탄연소 보일러에서 생성된 석탄회의 분석과 형성 메커니즘 해석에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Formation Mechanism of the Fly Ash from Coal Particles in the Coal Burning Boiler)

  • Fly ash produced in coal combustion is a fine-grained material consisting mostly of spherical, glassy, and porous particles. A study on the formation mechanism of the fly ash from coal particles in the pulverized coal power plant is investigated with a physical, morphological, and chemical characteristic analysis of fly ash collected from the Samchonpo power plant. This study may contribute to the data base of domestic fly ash, the improvement of combustion efficiency, fouling phenomena and ash collection in the electrostatic precipitator. The physical property of fly ash is determined using a particle counter for the measurement of ash size distribution. Morphological characteristic of fly ash is performed using a scanning electron micrograph. The chemical components of fly ash are determined using an inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry(ICP). The distribution of fly ash size was bi-modal and ranged from 12 to $19{\mu}m$ in mass median diameter. Exposure conditions of flue gas temperature and duration within the combustion zone of the boiler played an important role on the morphological properties of the fly ash such as shape, particle size and chemical components. The evolution of ash formation during pulverized coal combustion has revealed three major mechanisms by large particle formation due to break-up process, gas to particle conversion and growth by coagulation and agglomeration.

An Experimental Study on the Properties of Concrete using High Volume of Coal Ash

  • Recently, the coal-ash production has been increased by increase of consumption of electric power. So it is important to secure a reclaimed land from pollution and develop practical application of coal ash. This is an experimental study to compare and analyze the properties of concrete using high volume of coal ash (including fly ash and bottom ash) as a part of fine aggregate. For this purpose, the mix proportions of concrete according to replacement ratio of coal ash (10, 20, 35, 50%) were selected. And then air content, slump, setting time, bleeding content, chloride content, compressive strength and carbonation test were performed. According to test results, it was found that the bleeding content of concrete using the coal ash decreased according to increase of replacement ratio. And the chloride content of concrete using the bottom ash as a part of fine aggregate increased as the replacement ratio of bottom ash increased, but it is satisfied with the total chloride content of concrete recommended by KCI - $0.3kg/m^3$ below. Also, the compressive strength of concrete using the bottom ash was similar to that of plain concrete(BA 0) after 28days of curing and the carbonation depth of concrete increased as the replacement ratio increased. However, the carbonation depth of concrete using the fly ash decreased as the replacement ratio of fly ash increased.

석탄회성형배지(Ash Ball)의 이화학적 특성과 염류집적 및 제거효과 (Physical and Chemical Properties of Coal Fly Ash Ball Substrates, the Salt Accumulation and the Effects of Washing Out Salt with Water)

  • Ash ball 배지의 이화학적특성과 사용배지의 염류집적 및 제거효과를 펄라이트 및 입상암면과 비교하였다. ash ball의 가비중, 진비중, 공극율은 각각 0.93 g.$cm^{-3}$, 2.29 g.$cm^{-3}$, 40.6%, 59.4%로서 그중 가비중은 펄라이트 및 입상암면에 비해 현저히 높았고 가공율은 낮았다. 배지의 포화수분함량(saturation moisture capacity)은 ash ball이 52%, 펄라이트가 71%, 입상암면이 90%로 나타났고, 배수 1시간 후 수분율은 ahs ball이가 21%, 펄라이트가 27%, 입상암면이 80%로 낮아졌다. Ash ball의 입도별 수분율은 소립(3~5 mm)이 대립 (7~15mm)에 비해 5% 정도 높았다. Ash ball의 배드내 수분율은 수직 및 수평방향의 분포가 균일하여 수분확산성이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. ash ball의 pH는 7.6으로 약염기성을 나타내었다. 배지를 침지한 배양액의 pH는 7.6으로 약염기성을 나타내었다. 배지를 침지한 배양액의 pH는 다소 증가하는 경향을 보였으며 EC는 거의 변호가 없었으며, 배지내 무기이온의 흡착은 ash ball과 입상암면은 인산의 흡착이 비교적 많았다. 토마토 재배에 사용된 ash ball의 염류집적은 펄라이트와 비슷하였고 8회 정도의 침수처리로 배지표면에 흡착된 무기염을 대부분 제거할 수 있었다. 위의 결과로부터, ash ball 배지는 보수력은 다소 낮지만 통기성 및 수분확산성이 우수하여 배지내의 수분조절이 용이한 배지임을 알 수 있었다.

Strength and durability characteristics of bricks made using coal bottom and coal fly ash

  • The study evaluates properties of brick having coal ash and explores the possibility of utilization of coal bottom ash and coal fly ash as an alternative raw material in the production of coal ash bricks. Lower cement content was used in the investigations to attain appropriate strength and prohibit high carbon content that is cause of environmental pollution. The samples use up to 7% of cement whereas sand was replaced with bottom ash. Bricks were tested for compressive strength, modulus of rupture, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), water absorption and durability. The results showed mix proportions of bottom ash, fly ash and cement as 1:1:0.15 i.e., M-15 achieved optimum values. The coal ash bricks were well bonded with mortar and could be feasible alternative to conventional bricks thus can contribute towards sustainable development.

  • Although fly ash has possesses viable engineering properties, an overwhelming majority of fly ash from coal combustion is still placed in storage or disposal sites. This study was undertaken to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of clay-fly ash mixture and to furnish engineering data when fly ash utilized as engineering materials. This paper includes geotechnical properties of fly ash, clay-fly ash mixtures and results of compaction test, unconfined strength test, direct shear test, leaching test and stability analysis of clay-fly ash bank slope. If proper amount of fly ash was put in clay, the clay-fly ash mixture has an increase of unconfined strength and stability of bank slope.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength properties of municipal waste ash hardening using the unrefined fly-ash and paper sludge ash and to offer basic data to someone for recycling municipal waste ash. Unrefined fly-ash and paper sludge ash are used with admixture. MWA are tested that grading, specific gravity and pH value and observed microsructure of particle with SEM. The compressive strengths of MWA hardening which is mixed with regular ratio according to each admixture are measured. In the results of test, fly-ash is very effective for reducing content of cement by 50% in the recycling of MWA. But proper content mixed paper sludge ash is recommend by about 20% in binder.

  • Because the physical·chemical properties of bottom ash are inferior, most bottom ash is disused. But the use of bottom ash helps in reducing environmental pollution and solving some bottom ash waste problems. So, we have been investigating about the optimum mixture, hardening mechanism, curing condition and environmental safety of a paste composed of a bottom ash and alkali. optimal mixing proportion of bottom ash solid was cement 5%, water 30%, NaOH 10%. After curing during 28days, bottom ash solid can be achieved compressive strength 15.13MPa. As a result, Compressive strength tests of alkali-activated bottom ash have potential as a replacement of coarse aggregate.
