  • In this paper two protocols of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are examined through both a simulation and a case study. The simulation was performed with the optimized network (OPNET) simulator while comparing the performance of the Ad-Hoc on demand Distance Vector (AODV) and the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocols. This is compared and shown with real-world measurement of deflection from eight wireless sensor nodes. The wireless sensor response results were compared with accelerometer sensors for validation purposes. It was found that although the computer simulation suggests the AODV protocol is more accurate, in the case study no distinct difference was found. However, it was shown that AODV is still more beneficial in the field as it has a longer battery life enabling longer surveying times. This is a significant finding as a large factor in determining the use of wireless network sensors as a method of assessing structural response has been their short battery life. Thus if protocols which enhance battery life, such as the AODV protocol, are employed it may be possible in the future to couple wireless networks with solar power extending their monitoring periods.

  • In networking communication, nodes and base station send data to each nodes and destination nodes. In this perspective, it is very important to determine the direction in which data sent to each nodes or destination nodes. Ad-hoc routing protocol is a standard routing protocol that determines how the packets sent to destination. Ad-hoc routing protocol includes protocols such as Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). In our efficient proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers, route direction can be changed properly with the assistance of helper nodes. In this paper, we focus on the simulation analysis of proposed protocol and comparison with other routing protocol models such as AODV and DSR. We simulated using Network Simulator (NS-2) by parameters such as simulation time, number of nodes and packet size based on our metrics (packet delivery fraction, routing load, data throughput). Our proposed protocol based on small end-to-end sequence numbers shows better performance and superior to other two protocols.

  • In this paper, we propose a new multipath routing protocol and compare it with other multipath routing protocols in mobile ad hoc network (MANET) environments. The new multipath routing establishes the main route using a mechanism based on Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector(AODV), after which data transmission starts immediately. The backup route search process takes place while data are transmitted, to reduce the transmission delay. The protocol can also operate in a hybrid node-disjoint/link-disjoint mode, where the protocol finds the node-disjoint backup route first; if the node-disjoint does not exist, the protocol discovers the link-disjoint backup route from the main route. When either of the main route or the backup route is broken, data are transmitted continuously through the other route and the broken route is recovered by the route maintenance process. The results of simulations, based on the Qualnet simulator, show that the proposed multipath routing protocol increases the packet transmission success rate and reduces end-to-end delays, when compared with AODV and AOMDV protocols.

  • In wireless mesh networks multi-rate technology environment, a mesh node can dynamically modify the data transmission rate on a particular link, in response to link distance, or more accurately, the perceived SNR ratio between neighbor nodes. In such networks, existing route selection schemes use a link quality metric. Thus, these schemes may easily result in the network being overloaded. In this paper, a new route metric is proposed; it considers both per-hop service delay and link quality at mesh nodes. In addition, the Load-Aware AODV (LA-AODV) protocol using the proposed metric is presented. The performance evaluation is performed by simulation using the OPNET simulator. It is demonstrated that the LA-AODV protocol outperforms the existing routing protocols using other existing route metrics in multi-rate WMN environment.

  • An Ad-hoc network which do not use wired and base station system is composed the group of mobile and wireless nodes. That is various type of restriction. The biggest restriction is depend on the confined energy of battery. The network is devide more than two, if one of nodes consumed all energy that node can no longer participate to network. In recent years, the many number of studies research not only energy saving but also the networks lifetime extension which is to solve this problem. In this paper, we examine a AODV routing protocol which is modified to improve networks lifetime in mobile ad-hoc network. The one of improvement for AODV protocol is maximize the networks lifetime as apply Energy Mean Value algorithm which considerate node energy. We show the effectiveness for modified AODV(New-AODV) compared with AODV using NS-2(Network Simulator 2) the various performance metrics.

  • The recent networks are trending toward wireless networks. So wireless internet used to service of wired networks. But wireless networks can't show same performance of wired networks. Therefore, we are must concerned about Routing Protocol for improvement of a weak point of physical feature. But many researchers are not focusing on developing Routing Protocol. In this paper, we improve on AODV(Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector) for Wireless Mesh Networks. And it analyzed the result of simulation.

  • A MANET is an autonomous, infrastructureless system that consists of mobile nodes. In MANET, on-demand routing protocols are usually used because network topology changes frequently. The current approach in case of broken routes is to flag an error and re-initiate route discovery either at the source or at the intermediate node. Repairing these broken links is a costly affair in terms of routing overhead and delay involved. Therefore, this paper propose a NAODV(Neighbor-aware AODV) protocol that stands on the basis of an AODV. It sets up the route rapidly if it operates for setting the route directly by using sequence number of neighbor nodes without re-search the route when the route to destination node is broken. Also, it reduces loss of packets. We use NS-2 for the computer simulation and validate that the proposed scheme is better than general AODV in terms of packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay. Also, when the proposed protocol is applied to the large ad-hoc network with multiple nodes, the performance is more efficient.

이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 라우팅을 통하여 에너지 소비를 좀 더 효율적으로 네트워크로 분산시키기 위한 RDRP(Request Delay Routing Protocol)와 MMRP(Max Min Routing Protocol) 프로토콜들이 제안되었다.

  • In Mobile ad hoc networks, AODV is one of the famous on-demand routing protocol, which use the routing tables in the nodes if possible, or Route Discovery Process (RDP) is triggered to find a new route. However increasing the traffic of RDP causes dropping of the network performance in the large size of ad hoc networks. In this paper, we propose a novel routing protocol, named as AOZDV (Ad hoc On-demand Zone and Distance-Vector Routing), which enhances the AODV protocol with zone routing. AOZDV creates a Zone with neighbor nodes of the source/destination using traffic and power information, and utilizes Destination-Vector Table for internal routing in the Zone. We show by simulations that AOZDV can reduce the occurrence rate of route fail and RDP caused by route fail compared to existing routing protocols such as DSR and AODV.

  • A Mobile Ad hoc network(MANET) is a network consisting of a set of wireless mobile nodes, which communicate with each other without centralized control or established infrastructure. In this paper, to obtain a better understanding of AODV(Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol)and OLSR(Optimized Link State Routing Protocol) routing protocols, different performances are simulated and analyzed using OPNET modeler 14.5 with the various performance metrics, such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and routing overhead. As a conclusion, in static analysis, the routing overhead of OLSR is affected by the number of nodes, but not data traffic. In AODV case, it is affected by both data traffic and number of nodes. In mobility analysis, routing overhead is not greatly affected by mobility speed in AODV and OLSR, and the PDR(Packet Delivery Ration) of OLSR is decreased as the node speed increased, while AODV is not changed. AS to delay, AODV is always higher than OLSR in both static and nobility cases.
