고열 단조부품 핸들링을 위한 로봇 그리퍼의 방위 및 포지션 정밀제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Precise Control of Position and Orientation of Robot Gripper for Forming Parts Handling in High Temperature)

  • In this paper, we describe a new approch to control method of a four joints-robot gripper for the purpose of parts assemblying. The robot gripper is specifically modeled by using a 3D CAD program (ANSYS), considering artificial grippers, and then the proposed control method is illustrated through the dynamic simulation tool (Adams). Each gripper finger is individually controlled to be located at the optimal positions where the maximal joint torque can be calculated. To verified the effectiveness of the proposed control method, we proposed two cases for the reference position of gripper. By comparing the control performance of two method, the performance of the proposed control method was verified.

  • This paper presents the dimensionless wall distance, y+ effect on SST turbulent model for wind turbine blade. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Phase VI wind turbine was used for the study, which the wind tunnel and structural test data has publicly available. The near wall treatment and turbulent characteristics have important role for proper CFD simulation. Most of the CFD development in this area is focused on advanced turbulence model closures including second moment closure models, and so called Low-Reynolds (low-Re) number and two-layer turbulence models. However, in many cases CFD aerodynamic predictions based on these standard models still show a large degree of uncertainty, which can be attributed to the use of the $\epsilon$-equation as the turbulence scale equation and the associated limitations of the near wall treatment. The present paper demonstrates the y+ definition effect on SST (Shear Stress Transport) turbulent model with advanced automatic near wall treatment model and Gamma theta transitional model for transition from lamina to turbulent flow using commercial ANSYS-CFX. In all cases the SST model shows to be superior, as it gives more accurate predictions and is less sensitive to grid variations.

  • Flow force is the additional unbalanced force acting on the valve spool by fluid flow, excluding the static pressure force that is offset on the spool land wall at the same magnitude. When designing the valve spool, it is assumed that the same average value of static pressure is applied to the inlet and outlet spool land wall in one chamber. However, the high velocity of the fluid flow by the inlet or outlet metering orifice creates unbalanced pressure distribution and generates additional force in the opposite direction to that of the solenoid attraction force. This flow force has a negative effect on the control performance of the EPPR valve, which needs to develop uniform output pressure along the entire spool control range. In this study, we developed a 3D model of the EPPR valve and conducted flow force characteristic analysis using CFD S/W (ANSYS FLUENT). The alleviated flow force model was derived by adjusting the design parameters of the spool notch.

전단응력형 집적화 압력센서의 최적설계 (The study on optimum design for shear stress integrated pressure sensor)

  • 본 논문은 장방형 다이아프램 형상과 단일형 피에조저항 전단응력 스트레인 게이지 와의 관계를 해석하여 최적의 전단응력 압력센서를 설계하기 위한 것이다. 다이아프램상의 전단응력을 시뮬레이션 하기 위하여 유한요소법 분석 프로그램 ANSYS 5.1를 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 다이아프램 형상비가 3일때 스트레인 게이지의 위치는 중앙에서, 크기는 전체 장방형 다이아프램 크기의 8%를 점유할때 온도에 안정적이고, 최대 감도를 가진다는 것을 조사하였다.

고마력 터보 블로어의 최적 깃배치각에 관한 수치 예측 (NUMERICAL PREDICTION OF THE OPTIMAL STAGGER ANGLES FOR A HIGH-POWER TURBO BLOWER)

  • The turbo blowers having large power capacity are generally composed of the variable inlet guide vane, the impeller and the variable diffuser. In the present study, the effect of the stagger angles on the aerodynamic performances has been investigated by CFD methods. The design specifications of the reference model having 400kW power were given as 7.43kg/s of mass flow rate, 1.66 of pressure ratio with 12000rpm of impeller rotating speed. As the first simulation parameter, the diffuser vane angle was varied in the range of ${\pm}$20 degree from the initial-design point. The inlet guide vane angles, as the second one, was changed in the range of ${\pm}$40 degree from the initial-design point. The commercial Navier-Stokes solver, ANSYS-CFX, was applied to solve the three-dimensional unsteady flow fields inside the turbo blower. Through the numerical results, the desirable setting angles were proposed to fit the best performance to the variation of the operating conditions.

Aerodynamic stability of stay cables incorporated with lamps: a case study

  • Lamps installed on stay cables of cable-stayed bridges may alter the configuration of circular cross section of the cables and therefore result in aerodynamically unstable cable vibrations. The background of this study is a preliminary design of lamp installation on the cable-stayed He-dong Bridge in Guangzhou, China. Force measurements and dynamic response measurements wind tunnel tests were carried out to validate the possibility of cable galloping vibrations. It is observed that galloping will occur and the critical wind velocity is far less than the design wind velocity at Guangzhou City stipulated in Chinese Code. Numerical simulations utilizing software ANSYS CFX were subsequently performed and almost the same results as the wind tunnel tests were obtained. Moreover, the pressure and velocity contours around cable-lamp model obtained from numerical simulations indicated that the upstream steel wire in the preliminary design is the key factor for the onset of the galloping vibrations. A modification for the preliminary design of lamp installation, which suggests to remove the two parallel steel wires, is proposed, and it effectiveness is validated in further wind tunnel tests.

바이 모달 트램의 전기 제어 장치용 냉각장치에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electronically Controlled Cooling system for Bimodal Tram)

  • In this study, the first and second electronically controlled cooling systems for a bimodal tram were developed. The performance characteristics of the cooling systems were assessed experimentally with actual and identical conditions, and a simulation was run using ANSYS Fluent. The results of the experimental and FEA method were standardized. In order to confirm the reliability of the experimental method, the experiment was carried out by a testing institution. The low-volume flow-rate condition was found to be better, but the cooling system performed in a minimal condition. Therefore, it is important to find the optimum performance levels. The cooling system equipment was revised to determine the optimized design parameters, after which the cooling performance levels increased at the radiation area. Specifically, with a greater fan diameter. Through this study, the newly developed cooling system will be reevaluated after being mounted on an actual bimodal tram. This will lead to a completely domestically produced bi-modal tram cooling system.

  • The vacuum interrupter (VI) is widely used in medium-voltage switching circuits due to its abilities and advantages as an environmental friendly circuit breaker. An understanding of the vacuum arc flow phenomena is very important for improving the performance of vacuum interrupter. In order to closely examine the vacuum arc phenomena, it is necessary to predict the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) characteristics by the multidisciplinary numerical modeling, which is coupled with the electromagnetic and the thermal flow fields, simultaneously. In this study, we have investigated arc plasma constriction phenomena and an effect of AMF on the arc plasma with the high-current vacuum arcs for the cup-type AMF electrode by using a commercial finite element analysis (FEA) package, ANSYS. The simulation results applied with various AMFs and constant Joule heat generation show that strong axial magnetic field (AMF) permits the arc to be maintained in a diffused mode to a high-current vacuum arc. However, further studies are required on the two-way coupling method and radiation model for arc plasma in order to accomplish the advanced analysis method.

선박 침수사고를 대비한 비상용 배수시스템 용량추정 프로세스에 관한 연구 (Estimation Process for the Capacity of Emergency Drainage System on a Ship after Flooding Accident)

  • This paper proposed a process for estimating the required capacity of emergency drainage system on a ship when the ship encounters a flooding accident. The process was established by selecting target vessel, making a scenario of flooding accident, considering static behavior of flooding water and the effect of ship motion due to ocean condition. In order to obtain the object of the research, MATLAB codes were developed for analyzing of static behavior of flooding water. Additionally, Ansys AQWA-NAUT was used to analyze the motion of the ship under an ocean condition and then the effect of ship motion was considered when the static behavior of flooding water was studied. The research exploited a trawler as a target vessel, and estimate the necessary capacity of the trawler's emergency drainage system by simulating a flooding water in the vessel.

다관절 해저로봇 'Crabster'에 작용하는 조류하중 산정 및 유동해석 (Flow Analysis around Multi-Legged Underwater Robot "Crabster" to Evaluate Current Loads)

  • In this study, numerical simulations were performed to evaluate the current loads acting on the multi-legged underwater robot "Crabster" with a variety of incident angles using the ANSYS-CFX package. The Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations were solved to simulate the fluid flow around Crabster to calculate the forces and moments induced by incoming currents with various angles. First, to assess the posture stability of the body, the forces and moments were calculated with various incident angles when the current acted in the vertical and horizontal directions. Next, two forms of legs (box and foil types) were evaluated to determine the hydrodynamic force variation. Finally, the current forces and moments acting on the Crabster body with the legs attached were estimated.
