The characteristics of amylose-lipid complex(AL-complex) and cyclodextirn-lipid complex(CL-complex) were investigated by using Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC). The enzymatic hydrolysis of amylose which was liberated from AL-complex by the addtion of ${\beta}-cyclodextrin({\beta}-CD)$was also studied. The melting temperatures of AL-complex in corn, wheat, and rice starch were above $100^{\circ}C$ and there were no differences among them. In the presence of lysolecithin, the melting enthalpy and temperature of AL-complex were increased and lysolecithin was very effective in the formation of AL-complex. When ${\beta}-CD$ was added to AL-complex, the endothermic peak of AL-complex at $100^{\circ}C$ decreased and that of CL-complex at $70^{\circ}C$ appeared. These results indicated that the amylose was released from AL-complex by substituting ${\beta}-CD$ for amylose, then by forming CL-complex. As the added amount of ${\beta}-CD$ increased, the peak of AL-complex decreased whereas that of CL-complex increased. Enzymatic hydrolysis rate of AL-complex increased in the presence of ${\beta}-CD$, suggesting that amylose was dissociated from AL-complex and hydrolyzed by amylase.
The compressibility sinterability sintering behaviour and thermal stability of AlOOH added UO2 pellt and PVA-Al(III) complex added UO2 pellet were investigated respectively. Compared with characteristics of AlOOH added UO2 pellet the green density and the sintered density of PVA-Al(III) complex added UO2 pellet were lowered but the grain size and the pore size of that were more increased in accordance with higher compacting pressure. The AlOOH added UO2 pellet had the grain size of about 14${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with monomodal pore size distribution while the PVA-Al(III) complex added UO2 pellet had the grain size of about 42 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with bimodal pore size distribution. The PVA-A(III) complex added UO2 pellet had a similiar open porosity to the AlOOH added UO2 pellet and a lower resintered density change than the AlOOH added UO2 pellet.
The characterization of the complexation reaction of PVA and Al(III) ion at different pH and the sint-ering behaviour of UO2 containing the PVA-Al(III) complexes were investigated. Compared with pure PVA powder the complexed PVA-Al(III) powder had compacter shape and lower decomposition temperature The major phase of PVA-Al(III) complex decomposed at 90$0^{\circ}C$ was $\alpha$-Al2O3 The PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH 9 had the lowest relative viscosity the highest Al content of 36% and the smallest particle size of 19${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ While the pure UO2 pellet appeared with bimodal one. The grain size of the pure UO2 pellet was 7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ but that of the PVA-Al(III) complex added UO2 pellet was increased up to 36${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ The largest grain size was ob-tained when the PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH9 was added and the PVA-Al(III) complex formed at pH 11 had the greatest effect on increasing pore size.
The sintering characteristics of PVA-Al(III) complex added $UO_2$ pellet and AlOOH added $UO_2$pellet were compared. The major phase of PVA-Al(III) complex and AlOOH decomposed at $1000^{\circ}C$ in $H_2$atmosphere was $\theta-Al_2O_3$. Compared with the apparent density of pure $UO_2$, that of AlOOH added $UO_2$ powder was higher but that of PVA-Al(III) complex was lower. the densification of AlOOH added $UO_2$ pellet was initiated at about $800^{\circ}C$, the densification of PVA-Al(III) complex added $UO_2$ pellet was initiated at about $900^{\circ}C$ respectively. In a view of pore size distribution, the PVA-Al(III) complex added $UO_2$ pellet appeared as monomodal type, whereas the AlOOH added $UO_2$ pellet appeared as bimodal type. The grain size of AlOOH added $UO_2$ pellet was about $13\mu\textrm{m}$ but the grain size of PVA-Al(III) complex added $UO_2$ pellet was increased up to about $36\mu\textrm{m}$.
Selection of Al tolerant woody plants, and possibility of reforestation with the Al tolerant plants in soil conditions with different Al content, topography and slope exposures were studied on the slopes around Yeocheon Industrial Complex. Root growth in length of plants grown in 1/2 Steinberg solution decreased with increased Al concentrations of the solution. Relative root length showed that Paulownia coreana, Celtis sinensis and Firmiana simplex were sensitive to $500\muM$ Al, Pinus koraiensis, Alnus japonica and Ligustrum japonicum were intermediate, and Pinus rigida, P. densiflora and P. thunbergii were tolerant to $1, 000\muM$ Al. Coniferous plants appeared to be more tolerant to Al than deciduous ones. Soil pH was 4.2 and Al content was 509 ppm in average around the Yeocheon industrial complex. Al content and soil acidity were more deteriorated on the foothill and slope facing to the pollution source from the industrial complex than on the ridge and opposite slope.
Aluminum nitride (AlN) powders and whiskers were synthesized by a modified carbothermal reduction and nitridation where a ($NH_4)[Al(ethylenediaminetetraacetate)]{\cdot}2H_2O$ complex is used as precursor. The AlN powders were obtained by calcining the complex without mixing any carbon source under a flow of nitrogen in the temperature range 1200∼1500$^{\circ}$C and then burning out the residual carbon. The nitridation process was investigated by $^{27}Al$ magic-angle spinning (MAS) unclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The complex is pyrolyzed, converted to ${\rho}$- and ${\gamma}$- alumina and then nitridated to AlN without ${\gamma}-{\alpha}$ alumina transition. The morphology of ${\gamma}$-alumina, when it was converted to AlN, was retained, strongly indicating that ${\gamma}$-alumina is converted to AlN through solid-state $AlO_xN_y$, not through gaseous intermediates such as aluminum and aluminaum suboxides. AlN whiskers were obtained, when a (0001) sapphire was used as a catalyst.
Although various theories have been presented on the mechanism of setting retardation of 3CaO·Al2O3, this phenomenon has not yet been defined. The present investigation was initiated in order to solve the mechanism from the view point of coordination chemistry. The solubility of Ca(OH)2 in aquous solution of soldium gluconate was abnormally high, and was proportional to the concentration of sodium gluconate. These phenomena were attributed to the soluble complex formation, that is, (1 : 1)Ca complex formation between calcium ion and gluconate ion. The author's proposal was further confirmed by the results of electrical conductivity measurement. The formation of calcium complex was also supported by IR spectra and DTA. When sodium gluconate was dissolved in 3CaO·Al2O3 suspension, calcium complex and aluminum complex were formed. As an experimental evidence, the asymmetric stretching vibration of carboxyl group in sodium gluconate was observed to be shifted to lower frequency from 1625cm-1 to 1585cm-1 characteristically. The characteristic exothermic peaks of the complexs at 430℃ and 700℃ observed in DTA curve also suggest the formation of the complexs between sodium gluconate and 3CaO·Al2O3.
${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fibers for fiber reinforced molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) matrix have been produced from LiAlO2 complex polymeric sols using the sol-gel process. The stable and spinnable LiAlO2 sols could be synthesized by mixing LiNO3 alcohol solutions in aluminum complex polymeric sols prepared through the condensationpolymerization reaction of 1 more of aluminum tri-sec-butoxide with 0.55 mole of mixed chelates (mole ratio of acetylaceton/triethanolamine=0.25/0.3). It was found that the viscosity range for fiber-spinning should be higher than 30 poise. The defect-free flexible ${\gamma}$-LiAlO2 fibers with the average tensile strength of 350 MPa could be obtained when the spinned fibers were heat-treated to 120$0^{\circ}C$ on the specified heating schedule after dried at room temperature.
The adsorption behavior of 3CaO.$Al_2O_3$-sodium gluconate-$H_2O$ system by measuring adsorp-tion isotherm DTA and IR sepctra. The adsorbed amount of sodium gluconate on 3CaO.$Al_2O_3$ is exceedingly larger than 3CaO.$SiO_2$ and portland cement. From the DAT experiment the formation of complex is observed by the characteristic exothermic peak of the complex at 45$0^{\circ}C$ It is now strong deduced that the chemical bonding between gluconate anion and 3CaO.$Al_2O_3$ should be coordinative due to the complex formation on the surface 3CaO.$Al_2O_3$ from the IR spectra of sod-ium gluconate only and 3CaO.$Al_2O_3$ -sodium gluconate-$H_2O$.
