Analysis of Properties Multi-Layered TiN/CrN Thin Films Deposited by AIP Method (AIP법으로 증착된 TiN/CrN 다층박막의 특성 분석)

  • TiN and CrN thin films are among the most used coatings in machine and tool steels. TiN and CrN are deposited by arc ion plating(AIP) method. The AIP method inhibits the reaction by depositing a hard, protective coating on the material surface. In this study, the characteristics of multi-layer(TiN/CrN/TiN(TCT), CrN/TiN/CrN(CTC)) are investigated. For comparison, TiN with the same thickness as the multilayer is formed as a single layer and analyzed. Thin films formed as multilayers are well stacked. The characteristics of micro hardness and corrosion resistance are better than those of single layer TiN. The TiN/CrN peak is confirmed because both TCT and CTC are formed of the same component(TiN, CrN), and the phase is first grown in the (111) direction, which is the growth direction. However, the adhesion and abrasion resistance of the multilayer films are somewhat lower.

  • In this paper, both effect of TiN-coating and effect of temperature in TiN-coating by arc ion plating on surface characteristics of TiN coated SKH51 steel are investigated by experiments. Hardness, surface roughness, TiN coating thickness and adsorption force are measured in order to evaluate the effects. For evaluation of the experimental data, the two-way ANOVA method is used. It is concluded that the furnace temperature in the rang of $400^{\circ}C\~500^{\circ}C$ in AIP processing has very little influence on the TiN coating of the SKH51 steels.

  • Recently, there are rapid development of information and communication technology and rapid growing of e-business users. We propose a method for security problem on the internet environment which changes from wire internet to wireless internet or wire/ wireless internet. Wireless e-business adopts credit card WPP protocol and AIP protocol proposed by ASPeCT. WAP, one of the protocol used by WPP has weakness of leaking out information from WG which connected wire and wireless communication. Certification chain based AIP protocol requires a lot of computation time and user IDs are known to others. We propose a Micro-Payment protocol based on credit card. Our protocol use the encryption techniques of the public key with ID to ensure the secret of transaction in the step of session key generation. IDs are generated using ECC based Weil pairing. We also use the certification with hidden electronic sign to transmit the payment result. The proposed protocol also solves the privacy protection and Non-repudiation problem.

  • PVD coating is a technology that can be applied to various industries, and is widely used for processing molds and machinery, improving performance of core parts, and extending the life. Therefore, there is a need for a research on a device and a process technology that can adjust the performance to suit each application. In this study, a PVD coating device with ion density control was used to deposit a coating layer on SKD 11, a cold die steel, with magnetron currents of 1 A, 2 A, 3 A at arc currents of 80 A, 100 A, 130 A. It examined the mechanical properties for each condition. Increasing the arc current and magnetron current could improve the thickness, adhesion, and hardness of the coating layer. Especially, When the magnetron current was high, it suppressed the droplets that could be generated by the high arc current, showing excellent surface uniformity and adhesion of the coating layer.

  • The effect of coating temperature with regard to surface properties of TiN-coated layer on hard metal(WC-Co) are experimentally investigated. Hardness, surface roughness, TiN coating thickness and adsorption force were measured in order to evaluate the effect of coating temperature. The two-way ANOVA method is used in order to evaluate the experimental data. In AIP processing, It is concluded that the furnace temperature in the range of $400^{\circ}C\~500^{\circ}C$ affected to a little increasing the number of production with the coating temperature.

Fatigue Strength Characteristics of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V Steel by Improved TiN Coated Processes (TiN코팅 공정 개선에 의한 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V 강재의 피로강도 특성)

  • This paper deals with the effect of coating layer on the fatigue strength of TiN coated 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel prepared by using the arc ion plating (AIP) process, in which it was characterized by the presence of extractor grid (ion filter). The rotary bending fatigue tests were carried out under room air conditions, and the fatigue crack initiation and growth bwhavior were observed by using plastic replica method. As experimental results, it was found that the obvious improvement of fatigue life at lower stress region was confirmed in TiN coated specimen processed with ion filter. It was also exlained that the increase of fatigue life in the case of an improved AIP process with ion filter was attributed to the retardation of crack initiation of the substrate surface due to hard coating layer, more densly formed with the reduced size and density of droplets.

  • Arc ion plating (AIP), laser cladding, and nitriding are methods that can prevent mold damage or repair and create cracks and breakages on the die surface. The dissolution and soldering behavior of coated SKD61 by using arc ion plating, laser cladding, and nitriding was investigated. The structure of the coating was investigated as a function of deposition conditions by X-ray diffraction and the crystallographic orientation was determined using the texture factor. The TiAlN film deposited with AIP showed excellent corrosion resistance in the molten aluminum alloy at 680℃. In this paper, we have detailed the corrosion and mass loss phenomena associated with these steel-cast metal interactions.
