In this paper, we present the FlappyBird Competition System (FCS) implementation, a competition-based automated assessment system used in an entry-level artificial intelligence (AI) course at a university. The proposed system provides an evaluation method suitable for AI courses while taking advantage of automated assessment methods. Students are to design a neural network structure, train the weights, and tune hyperparameters using the given reinforcement learning code to improve the overall performance of game AI. Students participate using the resulting trained model during the competition, and the system automatically calculates the final score based on the ranking. The user evaluation conducted after the semester ends shows that our competition-based automated assessment system promotes active participation and inspires students to be interested and motivated to learn AI. Using FCS, the instructor significantly reduces the amount of time required for assessment.

This paper examines the trends of AI Foundation Model development and the competition to lead the related ecosystem, which have been rapidly unfolding since the emergence of ChatGPT, focusing on big tech companies in the United States. Based on this understanding of background knowledge, I analyzed and presented the main contents of the initial report reviewed by the UK competition authority, CMA, on potential competition issues that may arise in the process of innovations resulting from FM development. In addition, the trend and background of the CMA's investigation into the OpenAI-Microsoft partnership, whose importance has recently been highlighted, were also explained. It is expected that a reasonable domestic policy plan will be established by referring to these UK policy trends and monitoring & analyzing domestic industries.

In this paper, an autonomous driving system is implemented for the Segye AI Robot Race Competition that multiple vehicles drive simultaneously. By utilizing the ERP42-racing platform, RTK-GPS, and LiDAR sensors provided in the competition, we propose an autonomous driving system that can drive safely and quickly in a road environment with multiple vehicles. This system consists of a recognition, judgement, and control parts. In the recognition stage, vehicle localization and obstacle detection through waypoint-based LiDAR ROI were performed. In the judgement stage, target velocity setting and obstacle avoidance judgement are determined in consideration of the straight/curved section and the distance between the vehicle and the neighboring vehicle. In the control stage, adaptive cruise longitudinal velocity control based on safe distance and lateral velocity control based on pure-pursuit are performed. To overcome the limited experimental environment, simulation and partial actual experiments were conducted together to develop and verify the proposed algorithms. After that, we participated in the Segye AI Robot Race Competition and performed autonomous driving racing with verified algorithms.

In this study, we explore social awareness, interest, and acceptance of generative AI, including chatGPT, which has revolutionized web search, 30 years after web search was released. For this purpose, we performed a machine learning-based topic modeling analysis based on Korean news big data collected from November 30, 2022, when chatGPT was released, to August 31, 2023. As a result of our research, we have identified seven topics related to chatGPT and generative AI; (1)growth of the high-performance hardware market, (2)service contents using generative AI, (3)technology development competition, (4)human resource development, (5)instructions for use, (6)revitalizing the domestic ecosystem, (7)expectations and concerns. We also explored monthly frequency changes in topics to explore social interest related to chatGPT and Generative AI. Based on our exploration results, we discussed the high social interest and issues regarding generative AI. We expect that the results of this study can be used as a precursor to research that analyzes and predicts the diffusion of innovation in generative AI.

Changes in our lives due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) are currently ongoing, and there is little refutation of the effectiveness of AI. However, there have been active discussions to minimize the side effects of AI and use it responsibly, and publishing the AI Charter of Ethics (AICE) is one result of it. This study examines how our society is responding to threats from AI that may emerge in the future by examining various AIECs in the Republic of Korea. First, we summarize seven AI threats and classify these into three categories: AI's value judgment, malicious use of AI, and human alienation. Second, from Korea's seven AICEs, we draw fourteen topics based on three categories: protection of social values, AI control, and fostering digital citizenship. Finally, we review them based on the seven AI threats to evaluate any gaps between the threats and our responses. The analysis indicates that Korea has not yet been able to properly respond to the threat of AI's usurpation of human occupations (jobs). In addition, although Korea's AICEs present appropriate responses to lethal AI weapons, these provisions will be difficult to realize because the competition for AI weapons among military powers is intensifying.

보통의 인공지능 시스템은 특정 작업을 수행하기 위해 설계되며, 해당 작업만을 수행하는 능력을 가진다. 그에 반해 인공 일반지능이란 설계 당시 목표로 한 작업만이 아니라 새로 접하는 다양한 문제에도 대응할 수 있는 인공지능을 의미한다. 최근 게임 인공지능 분야의 일반지능 문제인 General Video Game Playing에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 비디오 게임으로 범위가 제한되었지만, 다양한 형태의 비디오 게임을 플레이 할 수 있는 단일 인공지능을 설계하는 것은 상당히 도전적인 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 Monte-Carlo Tree Search를 이용하는 기존 비디오 게임을 위한 인공 일반지능을 개선하는 방법에 대해 기술한다. 여기서는 UCB1 알고리즘을 문제에 적합하도록 개선한 GreedyUCB1과 게임 분석을 통해 얻은 지식을 활용한 Rollout 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법으로 개발된 인공지능은 국제 학술대회인 IEEE Computational Intelligence in Games의 2014년 인공지능 경진 대회에 출전하여 4위의 성적을 보였다.

인공지능과 빅데이터의 기술혁신에도 인공지능과 빅데이터가 시장경쟁 영향에 대한 이론연구들은 아직 초기이다. 따라서 본 논문은 인공지능, 빅데이터, 데이터 공유가 신규 진입기업에 미치는 영향을 게임이론을 활용하여 분석하였다. 먼저 기업의 경영환경을 내부와 외부로 구분하였다. 이후 인공지능 알고리즘을 (1) 고객마케팅, (2) 비용 절감, (3) 비용 절감을 위한 자동화 알고리즘으로 구분하였다. 또한 빅데이터를 외부 및 내부 데이터로 구분하였다. 분석 결과 외부 데이터의 공유는 기존 기업의 고객마케팅 알고리즘에는 영향이 없고 신규 기업의 진입장벽을 완화했다. 하지만 기존 기업의 비용 절감 알고리즘들과 내부 빅데이터의 개선은 신규기업의 시장진입 장벽이 될 수 있다. 이러한 시사점들은 (1) 인공지능, 빅데이터, 데이터 공유에 따른 시장구조, 경쟁, 기업행태 영향분석과 (2) 인공지능과 빅데이터 정책수립 시 이바지할 수 있다.

In the paper of 'Natural Selection Favors AIs over Humans,' Dan Hendrycks applies principles of Darwinian evolution to forecast potential trajectories of AI development. He proposes that competitive pressures within corporate and military realms could lead to AI replacing human roles and exhibiting self-interested behaviors. However, such claims carry the risk of oversimplifying the complex issues of competition and natural selection without clear criteria for judging whether AI is selfish or altruistic, necessitating a more in-depth analysis and critique. Other studies, such as ''The Threat of AI and Our Response: The AI Charter of Ethics in South Korea,' offer diverse opinions on the natural selection of artificial intelligence, examining major threats that may arise from AI, including AI's value judgment and malicious use, and emphasizing the need for immediate discussions on social solutions. Such contemplation is not merely a technical issue but also significant from an ethical standpoint, requiring thoughtful consideration of how the development of AI harmonizes with human welfare and values. It is also essential to emphasize the importance of cooperation between artificial intelligence and humans. Hendrycks's work, while speculative, is supported by historical observations of inevitable evolution given the right conditions, and it prompts deep contemplation of these issues, setting the stage for future research focused on AI safety, regulation, and ethical considerations.

Artificial-intelligence (AI) semiconductors are crucial for securing national core competitiveness, including dominating the AI and data ecosystem and succeeding in the Digital New Deal. When examining the macroenvironment, the global division of labor in the semiconductor industry has weakened owing to the technological competition between the United States and China. Major countries are aiming to build the entire semiconductor ecosystem around their territories. As a result, these countries are formulating policy goals tailored to their realities and actively pursuing key policies such as research and development, securing manufacturing bases, workforce development, and financial support. These policies also focus on intercountry cooperation and bold government policy support, which is deemed essential. To secure core competitiveness in AI semiconductors, South Korea needs to examine the policy directions of major countries and actively formulate and implement policies for this semiconductor industry.

"Artificial Intelligence+" is a key strategic direction that has garnered the attention of several global medical device manufacturers and internet companies. Large hospitals are actively involved in different types of medical AI research and cooperation projects. Medical AI is expected to create numerous opportunities and advancements in areas such as medical imaging, computer aided diagnostics and clinical decision support, new drug development, personal healthcare, pathology analysis, and genetic disease prediction. On the contrary, some studies on the limitations and problems in current conditions such as lack of clinical validation, difficulty in performance comparison, lack of interoperability, adversarial attacks, and computational manipulations are being published. Overall, the medical AI field is in a paradigm shift. Regarding international standardization, the work on the top 10 standardization issues is witnessing rapid progress and the competition for standard development has become fierce.
