Purpose: The purpose of the study is to confirm the effect of ACLS program using simulations and understanding self-efficacy, practice satisfaction, learning attitude, and interest in ACLS after theory classes and simulation-based practice. Methods: A non-equivalent simulation-based practice post test design was used. The participants were 28 paramedic students. The students participated in simulation-based practice for 3 weeks and conventional instruction class for 12 weeks. Results: The students showed higher level of self-efficacy(p=.043), practice satisfaction(p<.001) and learning attitude(p=.003) compared to the conventional lecture students. Conclusion: Level of self-efficacy after simulation-based practice for ACLS was higher than that of self-efficacy after conventional instruction classes. Level of practice satisfaction was also higher. Academic achievement after simulation-based practice was higher than that in conventional instruction classes.
Knowledge acquisition has been a major bottleneck in building expert systems. To ease the problems arising in knowledge acquisition, analog concept learning systems(ACLS) has been used. In this paper, in order to avoid the overfitting problem and secure a good performance, we propose the revised ACLS, which pruning methods -cost complexity, reduced error, pessimistic pruning and production rule- are incorporated into and apply them to the credit evaluation for Korean companies. The performances of the revised ACLS are evaluated in light of the prediction accuracy. To check the effect of the training data sampling on the performance, experiments are conducted using the different proportion of the training data. Experimental results show that the revised ACLS of combining cost complexity pruning with reduced error pruning performs best among original ACLS and other methods.

The purpose of this study was to analysis a Korean version of Satisfaction with Simulation Experience(SSE) Scale by paramedic students. Total number of 111 students majoring in the EMT-paramedic education area have taken part in the survey after completing the professional cardiac resuscitation simulative training, using the standardized simulation satisfaction evaluation method (SSE scale). Through the scale, one's preference, necessity, ACLS theory grade, and satisfaction rate per year regarding the training were measured. To analyze one's preference, necessity, ACLS theory grade, and satisfaction rate per year in regards to the training, one-way ANOVA was used. The result reveals that the overall satisfaction rate was generally quite high. When one's preference and necessity rate is high, the satisfaction rate also seems to increase. The result indicates that the simulation training will enhance the students' clinical skill, patient evaluation, and treatment capability as well as one's field adaptation skill at the time of an emergency occurrence. Eventually, training through the ACLS simulation will be used in the future for the benefit of encouraging students from emergency rescue to adapt to the site of an emergency. Therefore, such an education method should be maintained and further developed.

Dentists who want to perform sedation must have abilities to control any emergent situation that may occur during treatment procedures. In the 2010 guideline for the use of sedation by dentists, he/she must has valid certifications for basic life support (BLS) and for advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS). The Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (KACPR) has made a contract with the American Heart Association for education and certification. From 2004, they have held many courses for BLS and ACLS providers and instructors. The author of this research participated in the above mentioned courses and qualified as a BLS provider, BLS instructor and ACLS provider. The present paper was intended as an introduction to and arrangement of BLS and ACLS courses for health care providers through a year of experience. However, the previous course of the ACLS provider was focused more toward medical doctors. It is necessary to develop a new advanced course for dentists who employ sedation in their medical practices.
This study purpose was to identify the effect of simulation education based on Blended Learning on Nursing students' Knowledge, performance, Learning satisfaction to ACLS. Methods was nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 88 students 4 grade from the Department of Nursing at C University. The study period was from September 1 to December 31, 2021, and Data were analyzed with X2 test, independent t-test using SPSS 22.0 program. The research results show that the experimental group showed significantly higher performance(t=-9.843, p=.001) and learning satisfaction(t=-3.484, p<.001) for ACLS compared with the control group. In conclusion, it was suggested that ACLS simulation education based on Blended Learning is an effective teaching method to improve nursing students' performance and learning satisfaction.

In this paper, we propose a plural subject account of group beliefs using grounding concept, which bridges the gap between the two main approaches of ACLs, the mentalistic accounts and the social commitment accounts. The key idea of this Gilbert's plural subject account of group beliefs is to extend the grounding logic into the common ground framework for the semantics of ACLs which is fully verifiable, fully formalized and easily applicable. Thus, we formalize the proper group belief concept using common ground framework and we define the semantics of the primitive speech acts of FIPA-ACL such as inform, request and confirm as case studies. Also, we illustrate our framework on an e-commerce agent purchase negotiation and compare this proposed framework with two traditional semantics for ACLs.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine how an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) simulation application via smartphone effects nurses' ACLS knowledge and learning satisfaction. Methods: The participants were selected from nurses in medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU), surgical ICU and emergency room. The experimental group consists of fifty nurses who were self-learned with ACLS simulation application via smartphone and the control group of seventy-one nurses who used traditional learning materials. Outcome variables included nurses' knowledge and learning satisfaction which were collected before and after the intervention. Results: The scores of ACLS knowledge were higher in the control group compared to the experimental group (p=.001) while learning satisfaction showed no statistical difference (p=.444). In learning satisfaction, the experimental group showed higher interest than the control group (p=.019) while the control group rated higher on the item, 'the contents of education was reliable' (p=.007). Conclusion: ACLS knowledge score was graded higher in control group that used traditional learning method than the experimental group that used the smartphone application. This study showed that training with the new material significantly increased nurses' interest in ACLS education. Hence, more applications for smartphones should be developed to provide self-learning environment for nurses and improve care quality.

Objective: This paper reports the status of the advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) according to the guidelines by residents belonging to other departments other than the department of emergency medicine. The differences in status between the junior group and senior group was also investigated according to grades of residents. Methods: The ACLS performance for in-hospital cardiac arrest cases of one academic hospital, except for the cases occurring in intensive care unit between November 2015 and October 2017, were analyzed retrospectively. Data included the characteristics of residents, patients' outcomes, ACLS performance, and conventional treatment having discordance with the ACLS guidelines. Leaders during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were divided into a junior group and senior group. Results: A total of 152 cases were enrolled in this study. Of these, 131 cases (86.2%) showed at least one treatment with inconsistency from the guidelines and the incidence of discordant treatment was similar in the two groups (55 [85.9%] vs. 76 [88.4%], P=0.657). Implicit use of sodium bicarbonate was more frequent in the senior residents group (odds ratio [OR], 3.04; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.36-6.81). On the other hand, no use of a defibrillator was less frequent in the senior residents group (OR, 0.14; 95% CI, 0.03-0.81). Conclusion: In both groups, the rate of discordance with the ACLS guidelines during CPR were high. The rate of implicit use of sodium bicarbonate and no use of defibrillator were significantly different in the two groups. A customized education strategy for ACLS is needed for each group.
In this study, a Korean abbreviation scale to measure love and compassion toward other person was developed based on a critical review on Compassionate Love Scale(CLS; Sprecher, & Fehr, 2005). In the study 1, 12 items were selected from the original version of 21 item CLS by surveying a sample of 207 college students on the basis of several psychometric characteristics (i.e., discriminability, coefficient of factor loading, and contribution to internal consistency). In the study 2, the validity of 12 item version, ACLS (Ajou Compassionate Love Scale), was confirmed by examining the factor structure, reliability, and correlations with other related scales. The results clearly showed that ACLS not only had a sufficient psychometric properties as the CLS, but also superior to the CLS in terms of parsimoniousness. Limitations and implications for future research of ACLS were discussed.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the continuous effect of advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) simulation education according to Felder-Silverman learning style. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 94 students of emergency medical technology and nursing. There were 50 female students (53.2%) and 88 students (93.6%) had basic life support certification. The study instruments included knowledge, performance, and confidence. Data were analyzed using SPSS v. 20.0. Results: The learning style consisted of reflective type (51.1%), sensory type (76.6%), visual type (63.8%), and sequential type (64.9%). There was a significant difference in continuous effect on performance by learning type. Conclusion: It is necessary to identify the learning style of students before simulation education in order to maintain continuous effect of ACLS education.
