Study on air-water interface phenomenon and electrical property of Arachidic acid LB films (LB법을 이용한 Arachidic acid LB막의 공기-물 계면현상과 전기적특성 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 Arachidic acid Langmuir-Blodgett (LB)막의 계면특성과 전기적 특성을 측정하였다. Arachidic aicd는 포화지방산으로 ($CH_3(CH_2)_{18}COOH$)의 구조를 가지며, 크기가 27.5[$\AA$]으로 $CH_3(CH_2)_{18}$의 소수기와 COOH의 친수기로 구성되어 있다. LB막은 박막제작시 배열과 배향의 제어가 용이하다. Chloroform을 용매로 하여 2[mmol/l]의 농도를 조성하여 ${\pi}-A$ 등온선을 통해 기체 상태, 액체 상태, 고체 상태를 관찰하였으며 편광각 현미경 (Brewster angle microscopy) 이미지를 통해 각 상태에서의 이미지를 관찰하였다. 또한 LB막의 제작시 사용되어진 ITO 기판은 친수처리 전 후의 접촉각의 측정을 통하여 막의 안정성을 확인하였다. 또한 LB막을 Metal/LB막/Metal 구조의 소자로 제작하여 전압-전류 특성을 측정하였다.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Carrot Glycoprotein (당근 당단백질의 물리화학적 특성)

  • This study was performed to investigate the physicochemical characteristics of glycoprotein extracted from carrot. We manufactured glycoprotein using natural vegetable raw materials carrots, and then analyzed it's physicochemical properties. The results showed that the nutritional composition of carrot glycoprotein (CG) consisted of 2.35% carbohydrate and 94.2% glycoprotein. There were small amounts of hydroxyproline and glycine known as characteristics of collagen peptide in the amino acid of CG, but there were large amount of glutamic acid and aspartic acid involved in the metabolism of glucose and fat. The calories of CG was 342.1 kcal/100 g and the molecular weight appeared less than 594 Da average molecular weight distribution.

  • We synthesized thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer(TPU) with acid group and nano zinc oxide, and characterized their mechanical properties, thermal properties, contact angle and grip property. The effects of the zinc oxide content and size on the physical property of TPU were investigated. When the nano zinc oxide was introduced in TPU with acid group, it had excellent mechanical properties and grip by formation of hydrogen and ionic bonding. The wet slip of TPU with zinc oxide was increased continuously as ionization rate increased due to increase of hydrophilicity and ionic interaction, and mechanical properties were increased with increasing ionization rate up to 50%.

The Preparation of a Polyimide Membrane for the Separation of Water-Acetic Acid Mixture through Pervaporation (Polyimide 막에 의한 물-초산계의 투과증발 분리)

  • The asymmetric polyimide [PI] membrane with good solvent-resisting and heat-resisting properties was prepared by using the phase inversion method from polyamic acid, and its pervaporation separation characteristics of water-acetic acid system were studied. It was appeared from the prepared membranes that the best non-solvent of polyamie acid for the phase inversion was toluene. The best heat-treatment condition for the imidization of polyamic acid was 1 hr heating at each of the temperatures, 373, 473, and 573 K The thermal durability and chemical stability during the pervaporation separation of water-acetic acid of the prepared PI membrane was superior. The pervaporation characteristics of prepared membrane were 180 of separation factor and 0.5 kg/$m^2$hr of total flux for 80 wt% acetic acid feed.

  • For the production of biodegradable polymers from microorganisms a bacterial strain producing a biopolymer was isolated from soil. The bacteriological characteristics of this strain and physicochemical Properties of the biopolymer produced were investigated. The bacterial strain was identified as an alkalophilic Alcaligenes sp. The Purified biopolymer treated with cetylpridinium chloride and acetone was identified as an acidic biopolymer having carboxyl groups and showed strong UV absorbance (at 210nm). The biopolymer was composed of 100% glutamic acid and glutamic acid existed as $\gamma$-polyglutamic acid($\gamma$-PGA) in the form of the $\gamma$-peptide bond. The equivalent weight of this $\gamma$-PGA was estimated about 350, indicating that one acidic fraction per 2.7 residue of $\gamma$-polyglutamic acid existed. The molecular weight was $6.5{\times}10^5$ Daltons.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of browning inhibitor and vacuum packaging on minimally processed sweet pumpkin. The browning inhibitor were lo/e of ascorbic acid, citric acid, NaCl, MgCl$_2$and their combination. For the minimal processing, sweet pumpkin was sliced and strip-cut followed by dipping in the solution of browning inhibitor. Effective browning inhibitors fer slice sweet pumpkin were ascorbic acid, NaCl and MgC1$_2$, and those fer thin strip were combination and ascorbic acid. The hardness of minimally processed sweet-pumpkin repeated increasing and decreasing and decreased in the final of storage. However the change pattern of hardness was different according to cutting method. Magnesium chloride treatment was generally high grade on sensory characteristics. Sweet pumpkin treated with citric acid was distinguished on carbon dioxide generation and oxygen exhaustion.

Effect of Feeding Mugwort Powder on the Physico-chemical Properties of Pork (쑥 분말의 급여가 돈육의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary mugwort powder on the physico-chemical characteristics of pork. Pig was randomly selected based on three dietary treatments: 1) control(commercial feed) 2) T1(commercial feed supplemented with 1% mugwort powder) and 3) T2(commercial feed with 3% mugwort powder). They were fed with the experimental diets for 30 days and slaughtered. Meat samples were wrap packaged and stored at 4${\pm}$1$^{\circ}C$ In the proximate composition, crude fat was slightly low in the T1 and T2(p<0.05). The pH and TBARS of the control were higher than those of the treatment groups(T1, T2). The pH, TBARS, VBN and WHC of all treatments significantly increased during storage period at 4 ${\pm}$ 1$^{\circ}C$(p<0.05). Oleic acid, palmitic acid, linoleic acid and stearic acid were major fatty acids in pork Linoleic acid and linolenic acid contents were higher in treatment groups than in the control.

  • To develop hyaluronic acid (HA)-based anticancer agent carrier, hyaluronic acid was chemically modified with the hydrophobic group of deoxycholic acid(DA). The physicochemical properties of the deoxycholic acid-conjugated HA (HADA) were investigated by using $^1H$ NMR, FTIR spectrophotometer and TEM. Paclitaxel (Tx)-loaded HADA nanoparticles were prepared by a dialysis method. The loading efficiency of drug and drug contents of Tx-loaded HADA nanoparticles (HADA-Tx) were measured by HPLC. The anticancer activity of HADA-Tx was investigated by its cytotoxicity against KB cell in vitro. The HADA-Tx was shown to have the superior potential for the anticancer drug delivery.

Recovery and Characterization of Lactic Acid from Fermentation Broth Using Chemical Precipitation (화학침전을 이용한 발효액의 젖산 회수 및 유기물 특성분석)

  • Recovery of lactic acid from fermentation broth using chemical precipitation was investigated with various chemicals. Effects of chemical types, mixing speeds, settling duration, and solvent addition were evaluated to improve the recovery rates of lactic acid. Overall, recovery efficiencies increased as the dosage of chemicals increased. Recovery rate of lactic acid by CaO was higher than those of $Ca(OH)_2$ and $CaCO_3$. Recovery of lactic acid increased by 48% under the optimized reaction conditions which included a mixing speed at 180 rpm, a settling duration of 24 h, and addition of ethanol at 25%(v/v). Practical application needs to consider types and concentrations of other organic acids as well as lactic acid. Based upon the results of fluorescence excitation emission matrix (FEEM), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), characteristics of recovered lactic acid were same as that in the fermentation broth.

Preparation of Molecularly Imprinted Poly(methacrylic acid) and Its HPLC Separation Characteristics of Retinoids (분자각인 Poly(methacrylic acid)의 제조 및 레티노이드 화합물의 HPLC 분리 특성)

  • Molecularly imprinted polymers were prepared in particle forms by crosslinking methacrylic acid (MAA)) using all trans-retinoic acid as a template. The HPLC column packed with the prepared molecular imprinted polymers showed high capability in separation of retinoid derivatives. The column capacity factor and selectivity increased with increasing MAA to template ratio when the incorporated template amount was fixed, as it statistically generated more binding sites between host molecules and template. Molecularly imprinted polymer particles prepared via an emulsion polymerization method were round-shaped and their sizes were more uniformly distributed, but their separation capability was inferior to those obtained by solution polymerization method. It was presumably because the loss of interaction strength between MAA and the template due to hydrogen bonding either between MAA and water or between template and water during the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers.
