  • Plasma techniques have been proposed to generate a hydrogen enrich gas to investigate a feasibility of plasma techniques on a fuel reforming, we considered a dry reforming and a partial oxidation with methane in the atmospheric pressure. For these experiments, we employed an arc jet plasma reactor. The effects of input power and oxidizer in each process were investigated by product analysis, including carbon monoxide, hydrogen, ethylene, propane, and acetylene as well as methane and carbon dioxide. In both processes, input electrical power activated the reactions significantly. The increased ratio of the carbon dioxide to methane in the dry reforming doesn't affect to a methane conversion, whereas increased ratio of oxidizer to methane in the partial oxidation was very effective for the reaction. Moreover, for a simultaneous treatment of methane and carbon dioxide, a feasibility of a dry reforming combined with partial oxidation also has been investigated.

  • In the present work, the effect of plasma treatment of aluminum on the fracture toughness of CFRP/aluminum composites was investigated. The surface of the aluminum was treated by a DC plasma. The plasma treatment was carried out at volume ratio of acetylene gas to nitrogen gas of 5:5 and the treatment time used was 30 sec. Cracked lap shear specimens of aluminum/CFRP composites were made using secondary bonding procedure. Fracture toughness of aluminum/CFRP composites was determined using the work factor approach. Then, the fracture toughness of plasma-treated aluminum/CFRP composites was compared with that of untreated aluminum/CFRP composites. The results showed that the fracture toughness of plasma-treated aluminum/CFRP composites was about 50 % higher than that of untreated aluminum/CFRP composites.

  • The effects of noble gas (such as helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) on the sonolytic decomposition of water and 2-methyl-2-propanol(t-butanol) with 200 KHz high power ultrasound were investigated. The physical properties of the noble gas have an effect on the formation rate of products $(H_2O_2,\;H_2,\;O_2)$ and the decomposition rate on the sonolytic decomposition of water. The pyrolysis products, such as methane, ethane, ethylene, and acetylene are formed during the sonolytic decomposition of t-butanol. From the estimation of the ratio $[C_2H_4+C_2H_2] / [C_2H_6]$, the cavitation temperature would be varied by the used noble gas. In all cases for the sonolytic decomposition of water, t-butanol, and diethyl phthalate, the decomposition rates were xenon > krypton > argon > neon > helium with a significant difference and were closely correlated with the formation rate of OH radical and high temperature inside the cavitation bubble under each noble gas.

  • Water-Electrolyzed gas is a mixed gas of the constant volume ratio 2:1 Hydrogen and Oxygen gained from electrolyzed water, and it has better characteristics in the field of economy, efficiency of energy, and environmental intimacy than acetylene gas and LPG used for existing gas welding equipment. So studies of Water-Electrolyzed gas are activity in progress nowadays, and commercially used as a source of thermal energy for gas welding in the industry. The object of this paper is V-I feature of Hydrogen -Oxygen Gas Generator using DC source

  • We fabricated the 1-inch diode type flat lamp using CNTs, which were grown directly on soda-lime glass substrate at 600 ∼ 650 $^{\circ}C$ by thermal chemical vapor deposition(CVD) of acetylene gas. Turn- on field was about 2.8 V/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. We observed that uniform and high brightness had been obtained. The brightness of CNT flat lamp was measured up to about 14 kcd/$m^2$ at 2000V in spacing of 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The results showed that the CNTs were very good emission source and suitable for application in the lamp.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with few defects and very small amount of amorphous carbon coating have been synthesized by catalytic decomposition of acetylene in $H_2$ over well-dispersed metal particles supported on MgO. The yield, quality and diameters of CNTs were obtained by control of catalyst metal compositions to be used. The optimization condition of carbon nanotubes with high yield is when Co and Mo are in a 1:1 ratio and Fe metal contents to Co is increased on magnesium oxide support. It is also found that the diameter of the as-prepared CNTs can be controlled mainly by adjusting the molar ratio of Fe-Mo, Co-Fe, and Co-Mo versus the MgO support. Our results indicated that desired diameter distribution of CNTs is obtained by choosing or combining the catalyst to be employed.

  • Thermal and mechanical properties were investigated in several semi-conductive materials which is composed of carbon black and polymer. EVA, EEA, and EBA is normally used for matrix polymer and normally acetylene black and furnace black is used. Isothermal thermo gravimetric analysis is done as a function of atmosphere and temperature. In nitrogen atmosphere semicon compound was slowly degradaded but in ambient condition degradaded fast. So in the cable manufacturing, atmosphere and materials are very important.

  • This study investigated the effect of $H_2$ upon the growth of CNTs by changing the ratios of $H_2$ to Ar during the growth using $C_2H_2$. With higher contents of $H_2$ in Ar, CNTs became longer and thinner, resulting in their higher aspect ratios.

  • A new practical method is described for the synthesis of (Z)-7-eicosen-11-one (1) and (Z)-7-nonadecen-11-one (2), the active principles of the sex pheromone of the peach fruit moth. Lithium anion of 1-octyne (from acetylene and 1-bromohexane) was alkylated with 3-bromo-1-propanol tetrahydropyranyl ether and deprotected to afford 4-undecyn-1-ol, which was oxidized with pyridinium chlorochromate to 4-undecyn-1-al. 4-Undecyn-1-al was treated with 1-nonylmagnesiumbromide or 1-octylmagnesiumbromide to yield 7-eicosyn-11-ol and 7-nonadecyn-11-ol. Jones oxidation, followed by Lindlar catalytic hydrogenation afforded the target compounds. Biological activity of the synthetic pheromones as attractants for males of the peach fruit moth was tested in the field using polyethylene capsules as containers. For each vial containing about 3.0 mg of the synthetic pheromone, the number of trapped moths were counted.

  • The molecular interaction of $Mo_2(OR)_4({\mu}-OR)_2$$ unit has been studied for carbonyl and acetylene ligands by means of extended Huckel calculations. We have extended the extended Hckel calculations to unknown apex bridged $Mo_2(OR)_6({\mu}-X)$ complexes (X = $SO_2$H, and Cl) in order to compare the stability of the complexes. In the $C_2H_2$and H apex bridged complexes, one finds a relatively small HOMO-LUMO gap. However, both complexes are stabilized due to Jahn-Teller distortion. The stability of both complexes is comparable to that of $Mo_2(OR)_6(CO)$ complex. The comparisons and predictions in the stability of known and unknown complexes are the subject of this study.
