The ignition characteristics of repetitive electric sparks into a quiescent acetylene-air premixture and LPG-argon-air premixture was investigated by using a home-made Repetitive-Spark-Generator(RSG) to elucidate the effect of fuel burning velocity to ignition ability of RSG. Results show that the optimum spark delay time interval is strongly related with fuel burning velocity, or implicitly with characteristic reaction time scale of each fuel.

The synthesis and pyrolysis of trans-2-butenedial ditosylhydrazone with sodium methoxide in aprotic solvents have been studied to investigate the products of pyrolysis. The pyrolysis of dry lithium salt of tosylhydrazone also has been made, one of its products was acetylene which might come from a certain strained ring compound.

$\alpha$-Linolenic acid ethylester, $C_{19}$ spiroketalenolether polyyne, herniarin and steroid were isolated from the leaves of Artemisia selengensis (Compositae). The structures of the compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence. Liver protective effects of these constituents were studied using galactosamine and CCI$_{4}$-induced cytotoxicity in primary cultured rat hepatocytes.

앞으로 본지를 통하여 현재 쓰이고 있는 유해물의 허용한계가 어떠한 근거로 정하여졌는가를 소개하고자 한다. 허용한계에 대하여 여러가지로 소개된 바 있으나 그 근거를 알지 못하여 그 적용에 있어서 잘못이 생길 수 있다. 소개되는 내용은 미국의 ACGIH의 TLV가 결정 됨에 있어서 이용된 여러가지 문헌을 소개하고 그 내용을 간추려 보고자한다. 1966년에는 367가지의 물질에 대한 TLV가 알려져 있었고 1971 년에는 500 가지의 물질에 대하여 결정된 바 있으나 본지에서는 우리나라에서 찾아볼 수 있는 물질과 기타 중요하다고 생각되는 물질을 선택하여 소개하고자 한다.

The phytochemical study of the aerial parts of Artemisia japonica ssp. littoricola (Asteraceae) led to the isolation of two acetylenic compounds, (3R)-dehydrofalcarinol (2) and (3R)-dehydrofalcarindiol (6), two sesquiterpenes, $1{\beta}$, $6{\alpha}$-dihydroxy-4(15)-eudesmene (5) and oplodiol (8), and four phenolic compounds, eugenol (1), vanillin (3), 3'-methoxy-4'- hydroxy-trrans-cinnamaldehyde (4) and p-hydroxyacetophenone (7). Their structures were determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods.

Three $NIf^{-}$ -mutants were isolated from Enterbacter agglomerans 339 through the transposon umtagenesis using a RP4-mobilising system for its nif-gene characterization. All mutants hadn't acetylene-reduction ability. Then we confirmed that Tn5 was inserted into all conserved nif-plasmids through the Southern Hybridization.

Oligodeoxyribonucleotide bearing the di-acetylenic linkage has been prepared. Staring from 5-Iodo-2'-deoxyuridine(1), a four-step sequence, consisting of the Pd(0)-catalyzed Heck-type C-C coupling with acetylenic group, protection of 5'-hydroxy group, generation of acetylenic hydrogen, and Glaser oxidative coupling reaction leads to the dimeric oligodeoxyribonucleotide(5).
