  • A pot experiment was conducted to find the nitrogen fixing activities associated with ice rhizoplane in nine varieties at various growth stage by acetylene reduction technique. Results obtained ware Summarized as follows. 1. Nitrog en fixing activites associated with rice rhizoplane differ by the rice variety and the growth stage. The activities increased with progressing of growing time, and maximum activities were obtained from the ear forming stage to the heading stage. 2. The application of rice straw did not greatly enhanced the nitrogen fixing activities associated with rice rhizoplane. However, somewhat increasing tendency was obtained in the Kataktara, TKM-6, Centrypartna. Daegujo, and Jodongji varieties. 3. The nitrogen fixed during the one rice cropping period was estimated as 0.55kg of N per 10a by Milyang-23 variety to 2.6kg of N per 10a by Jodongji variety. 4. The amount of rice root showed no significant relationship with the amount of nitrogen fixed during the growing period of rice plant.

A polymer pH-Selectrode Based on Tribenzylamine as Neutral Carrier (Tribenzylamine 중성운반체를 이용한 pH-선택성 고분자 막전극)

  • For the preparation of pH-selectrode, tribenzylamine, polyvinylchloride, dioctylphthalate, sodium tetraphenylborate and tetrahydrofuran were mixed with 0.02, 0.62, 1.34, 0.02g and 10ml respectively, and added 1g of acetylene black, graphite, silicon carbide or tungsten carbide respectively to improve electric conductivity. The selectrodes of seven kinds were shown linear to hydrogen ion in the range of pH 2 and 9. The best electric conductor for preparation of pH-selectrode based on tribenzylamine as neutral carrier was acetylene black and responded potential of the selectrode to hydrogen ion was shown the values near to theoretical Nernstian slope at $20^{\circ}C$. The interfering effects of the selectrode on hydrogen ion in the presence of alkali and alkaline earth metal ions were shown the better results with less error than glass electrode. The reproducibility and stability were good for use as a selectrode, especially in the presence of fluoride ion.

  • 기존의 일반적인 에탄올 제조법으로는 1) ethylene의 가수분해, 2)전분이나 당분의 발효, 3)acetylene으로부터 얻은 acetaldehyde의 환원반응이 있다. 기존의 화석연로에 의존하지 않고 에탄올을 생성하는 방법은 발효에 의한 방법이다. 발효에 의해 생성되는 에탄올의 농도는 batch식 발효에서 13-14%, 고정화 발효방법에서 5-10%정도이다. 이를 고순도의 에탄올로 농축하기 위한 방법으로는 증류법, 투과증발법, 역삼투법등이 있으며 증류를 이용하여 농축하는 경우에는 상당히 큰 열에너지를 필요로 한다.

Deposition of Diamond Film by Hydrogen-oxyacetylen Combustion Flame

  • Diamond film was deposited on Mo substrate at atmospheric pressure using combustion flame apparatus with the addition of H2. At a temperature above 100$0^{\circ}C$, parts of the film were converted into graphites and these were etched by hydrogen atoms. With increasing $C_2H_2/O_2$ ratio, the nucleation density of the film increased. But the greater part of the film was formed with cauliflower-shaped amorphous carbon. These amorphous carbn were crystallized etching amorphous carbon.

  • Spectroscopic data between 7 and 15 microns obtained in 1979 by Voyager 1 and 2 Infrared Interferometer Spectrometer (IRIS) have been revisited. Using the spectral data, Jupit.er images have been constructed at the emission bands of hydrocarbons, such as methane, ethane, and acetylene. The resultant. images show differences in emission intensities in the polar regions, suggesting inhomogeneous distributions of the hydrocarbons over the auroral regions of Jupiter.

  • Taxonomic relationships between some inulin containing plants such as Platycodon and Codonopsis have been investigated comparing their contents of inulin crystals, resin, as well as TLC patterns of saponins and acetylenes. Although Platycodon and Codonopsis have been known to be close in anatomic characters, the present results showed that there were significant differences between not only in the genus but also in the species.
