This paper presents the three section sliding mode control algorithm based on variable structure current controller design in a synchronous frame and indirect field oriented control method, and applies it to the position control of induction motor. This control scheme solves the problem of robustness loss during the reaching phase that occurs in a conventional VSC strategy, and ensures the stable sliding mode and robustness enhancement throughout an entire response. As the performance of a VSI fed induction motor drives depends on the characteristics of inner loop current controller, it is desired that the current controller have the fast tracking and robust nature. Therefore, we introduced the voltage mapping table based on the concept of voltage space vector for variable structure current control, and implemented fully digital control system using 16-bit microcontroller with on-chip peripherals without additional processing circuits. Simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of this control scheme for robust AC servo drive system of VSI fed induction motor.
This paper presents the new gait implementation of a biped robot with smooth walking using 3-dimensional continuous trunk motion and kick action of ankle joints. Trajectory generation ova trunk is performed not on a unit gait but on a whole walking interval. In applying kick action such as heel-touch or toe-off, varying coordinate system was employed for the simplification of the kinematic analysis. Desired ZMP (zero moment point) is also changed to implement the efficient kick action. As a result, balancing motion of the proposed gait was much more decreased than that of conventional one. Moreover, robot\\`s walking behavior is very smooth, natural and similar to the pace of a human. The walking experiment system is composed of eight AC servo motors and a DSP controller. The walking simulation and the experimental results are shown using the proposed new walking algorithm.
Dynamic postural control varies with the environmental context, specific task and intentions of the subject. In this paper, dynamic postural control against forward-backward perturbations of a platform was estimated using tri-axial accelerometers and a force plate. Ten young healthy volunteers stood upright in comfortable condition on the perturbation system which was controlled by an AC servo motor. With anterior-posterior perturbations, movements of ankle, knee and hip Joints were obtained by tri-axial accelerometers. and ground reaction forces with corresponding displacements of the center of pressure(CoP) by the force plate. The result showed that the ankle moved first and the trunk forward, which implies that the mechanism of the dynamic postural control in forward-backward perturbations, occurred in the procedure of the ankle, the knee and the hip. Knee flexion and hip extension in the period of acceleration, constant velocity and deceleration phase is very important fur the balance recovery. These responses depends on the magnitude and timing of the perturbation. From the present study the accelerometry-system appears to be a promising tool for understanding kinematic accelerative In response to a transient platform perturbation. A more through understanding of balance recovery mechanism may aid in designing methods for reducing falls and the resulting injuries.
The errors generated from current measurement paths are inevitable, and they can be divided into two categories: offset error and scaling error. The current data including these errors cause periodic speed ripples which are one and two times the stator electrical frequency respectively. Since these undesirable ripples bring about harmful influences to motor driving systems, a compensation algorithm must be introduced to the control algorithm of the motor drive. In this paper, a new compensation algorithm is proposed. The signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator is chosen and processed to compensate for the current measurement errors. Usually the d-axis current command is zero or constant to acquire the maximum torque or unity power factor in the ac drive system, and the output of the d-axis current regulator is nearly zero or constant as well. If the stator currents include the offset and scaling errors, the respective motor speed produces a ripple related to one and two times the stator electrical frequency, and the signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator also produces the ripple as the motor speed does. The compensation of the current measurement errors is easily implemented to smooth the signal of the integrator output of the d-axis current regulator by subtracting the DC offset value or rescaling the gain of the hall sensor. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has several features: the robustness in the variation of the mechanical parameters, the application of the steady and transient state, the ease of implementation, and less computation time. The MATLAB simulation and experimental results are shown in order to verify the validity of the proposed current compensating algorithm.
The MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) process is used in a micro/nano pattern manufacturing method. This method is based on the lithography technology. But the MEMS process has some problems such as complicated process, long processing time and high production costs. Many researchers are doing research in substitute manufacturing method to work out a solution to these problems. In this paper, we apply a dieless incremental forming technology to a substitute method of MEMS process. This dieless forming technology is using in the commercial scale sheet forming such as a prototype of automobile sheet parts. 5-axes CNC (Computerized Numeric Control) method are applied in this system to get a micro-scale dieless forming results. These 5-axes system are composed of precision AC servo motor stages (4-axes) and PZT actuator (1-axis). A PZT actuator is used in a precision actuating axis because it can be operated in the nano scale stroke resolution. This micro dieless incremental forming system has the advantage of minimization in manipulating distance and working space. As equipment and tools become smaller in size, minute inertia force and high natural frequency can be obtained. Therefore, high precision forming performance can be obtained. This allows the factory to quickly provide the customer with goods because the manufacturing system and process are reduced. To construct this micro manufacturing system, many technologies are necessary such as high stiffness frame, high precision actuating part, structural analysis, high precision tools and system control. To achieve the optimal forming quality, the micro dieless forming system is designed and made with high stiffness characteristic.

In recent years, robots have been used widely in industrial field and have been expanded as a result of continuous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization. The goal of this paper is to design the serial manipulator through kinematic analysis and to control the position and orientation of end-effector with respect to time. In general, a structure of industrial robot consists of several links connected in series by various types of joints, typically revolute and prismatic joints. The movement of these joints is determined in inverse kinematic analysis. Compared to the complicated structure of parallel and hybrid robot, open loop system retains the characteristic that each link is independent and is controlled easily. AC servo motor is used to place the robot end-effector toward the accurate point with the desired speed and power while it is operated by position control algorithm. The robot end-effector should trace the given trajectory within the appropriate time. The trajectory of end-effector can be displayed on the monitor of general personal computer through Opengl program.
Recent noticeable advances of CNC machine tools have considerably improved productivity and precision in manufacturing processes. However, in the respect of productivity some defects still remain because selection of machining conditions entirely depends on the experiences of programmers. Usually, machining conditions such as feed rate and spindle speed have been selected conservatively by considering the worst cases, and it has brought the loss of machining efficiency. Thus, the improvement of cutting force controller has been done to regulate cutting force constantly and to maximize feedrate simultaneously in case that machining conditions change variously. In this study, sliding mode control with boundary layer is applied to milling process for cutting force regulation and in a commercial CNC machining center data transfer between PC and PMC (programmable machine controller) of CNC machine is done using a standard interface method. And in the cutting force measurement, an indirect cutting force measuring system using current signal of AC servo is adopted in order not to use high-priced equipment like tool dynamometer. The purpose of this study is to maximize the productivity in milling process, thus its results can be applied to cases such as rough cutting process.
A cam profile CNC grinding machine is developed for manufacture of high precision contoured cams. The developed machine is composed of the high precision spindle using boll bearings, the high stiffness box layer type bed and the three axis CNC controller with the high resolution AC servo motor. In this paper, structural and modal analysis for the developed machine is carried out to check the design criteria of the machine. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. The machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements. And also, this paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation. The results provide structure modification data for good dynamic behaviors. And safety of the machine was confirmed by the modal analysis of modified machine design. Finally, the cam profile grinding machine was successfully developed.
