A Power Losses Analysis of AC Railway Power Feeding Network using Adaptive Voltage Control (능동형 전압제어를 통한 교류 전기철도 급전망에 대한 전력손실 분석)

  • This paper compares power losses between voltage controlled before and after using power conversion device in AC feeding system. For this purpose we present voltage control procedures and criteria and model high speed line and train using PSCAD/EMTDC to compare power losses in various feeding condition. Power losses of the simulation result in power control before and after in single point feeding system was reduced maximum 0.37 MW(23.8 %) and average 0.23 MW(20.5 %) when one vehicle load operates maximum load condition. When three vehicles operate maximum load condition in one feeder section, power losses after voltage control was reduced 1.03 MW(49.5%) compared to before voltage control. And, power loss of parallel feeding system is reduced the average 0.08 MW(7.2 %) compared to the single feeding system. In conclusion, adaptive voltage control method using power conversion device can reduce power losses compared with existing method.

  • The electrified railway has various power supply schemes. Although the identical trains are operated in same condition and the impedance of track are equal, the genealogy impedance of track is changed according to composition method of feeding scheme. So, the collection voltage of train and supplying power from railway substation are greatly unlike. For simulation of collection voltage and power supply according to feeding scheme, using 6-port network analysis proposed previously simulate collection voltage and supply power according to feeding scheme(Parallel Post feeding system, normal feeding system and tie feeding system) and compare and investigate each characteristics.

  • In AC railway feeding system, three phase received from the network is changed to two phase power sources with different phases. The main circuit breaker installed train is automatically open by track signal when the train passes the neutral section. In order to continuously supply power source to train, the changeover system was used in Japan. Therefore, the train is able to operate under powering condition when it was passing through the neutral section. We investigated the control method to reduce the inrush current flowing main transformer in train. To examine the inrush current and operate the static semiconductor switch such as thyristor, we manufactured the small scale the changeover system and carried out performance tests.

  • The electric railway has been widely used as a transportation all over the world. It also was opened in 1973 in korea and it has been steadily proceeded in making electric railway network for a big city and building Keongbu high speed , electric railway. That's why the system of electric railway is able to solve the environmental pollution and operate the useful energy in environmental ways, it helps to increase the ability of transportation and to decrease the cost. Because of the advantage of making the economic situation better, the system of electric railway is trying to do their best in developing technique of electric railway. Because of the increasing of transportation and the high speed operation, cars with regenerative braking system was adapted. Therefore, unbalanced voltage and current of three phase system and the drop and rise of voltage of feeding circuit is expected. Now that building the substation, newly spends lots of costs and time, it is a very difficult situation to solve the problem. We can guess that electric railway line can't receive power from the power system of bigger size in building newly electric railway. In this paper, it was proved that series voltage compensator was suitable as a solution according to voltage drop and voltage fluctuating through computer simulation.
