본 논문은 EMTDC/PSCAD 프로그램을 이용한 80MVA UPFC(Unified Power Flow Controller)해석모델 개발과 2003년 실계통 적용시 적용효과에 대하여 기술하였다.
This paper presents a centralized control algorithm for power system performance in the Korean power system using Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices. The algorithm is applied to the Korean power system throughout the metropolitan area in order to alleviate inherent stability problems, especially concerns with voltage stability. Generally, control strategies are divided into local and centralized control. This paper is concerned with a centralized control strategy in terms of the global system. In this research, input data of the proposed algorithm and network data are obtained from the SCADA/EMS system. Using the full system model, the centralized controller monitors the system condition and decides the operating point according to the control objectives that are, in turn, dependent on system conditions. To overcome voltage collapse problems, load-shedding is currently applied in the Korean power system. In this study, the application of the coordination between FACTS and switch capacitor (SC) can restore the solvability without load shedding or guarantee the FV margin when the margin is insufficient. Optimal Power Flow (OPF) algorithm, for which the objective function is loss minimization, is used in a stable case. The results illustrate examples of the proposed algorithm using SCADA/EMS data of the Korean power system in 2007.

Advanced controllers among Flexible AC Transmission System(FACTS) devices employ self-commutated switching converters, VSI (Voltage Sourced Inverters), as the synchronous voltage source. Such controllers are SSSC (Static Synchronous Series Compensator), STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) and UPFC (Unified Power Flow Controller). UPFC is series-shunt combined controller. Its series and shunt inverters can be modeled as SSSC and STATCOM but the dependant relation between the inverters is very complex. For that reason, the complexity makes it difficult to develop the UPFC model by simply combining the SSSC and STATOM models when we apply the model for conventional power system dynamic simulation algorithm. Therefore, we need each relevant models of VSI type FACTS devices for power system analysis. This paper proposes a modeling approach which can be applied to modeling of VSI type FACTS devices. The proposed method using Newton-type current injection method can be used to make UPFC, SSSC, and STATCOM models. The proposed models are used for 2-area test system simulation, and the results verify their effectiveness.

Power system for renewable energy is composed of module, transform DC power into AC power inverter, control power flow and device for a charge of the grid-connected. Power system for renewable energy produce the most DC power, when this system is much insolation in summer and daytime. But if the certain temperature rises above, the essential grid-connected power inverter is take a nose dive. There, in this paper, we propose an improved reduction of heating system. In addition, selection of the most serious heat region and through analysis of temperature characteristics according to location and distance derive the optimal model.
In this study we investigated ac transport current losses in the face to face stack for the anti-parallel current flow, and compared the electromagnetic properties with those of the single SC tape as well as those of the same stack for the parallel current path. The gap between the SC tapes in the stack varied in order to verify the electromagnetic influence of the neighbors when current flows in opposite direction, and the model was implemented in the finite element method program by the commercial software, COMSOL Multiphysics 4.2a. Conclusively speaking, the loss was remarkably decreased for the anti-parallel current case, which is attributed the magnetic flux compensation between the SC layers due to the opposite direction of the current flows. As the gap between SC tapes was increased, the loss mitigation became less effective. Besides, the current density distribution is very flat cross the sample width for the narrower gap case, which is believed to be benefit for the power electric system. These results are all in good agreement with those predicted theoretically for an infinite bifilar stack.

This paper describes a controller design and dynamic performance analysis of UPFC based on 3-level inverters. Major attention is focused on the controller design for both shunt and series inverters, including regulator design for the dc link voltage sharing across the dc capacitors. An energy-based approach was investigated for effectively designing the controller. A detailed UPFC model has been developed with EMTP using 24-pulse 3-level inverters to verify this approach. Simulation results about dynamic performance of UPFC confirm effects for increasing transmission capacity and damping low-frequency oscillation. The developed simulation model would be very effective to analyze the dynamic performance of UPFC.
AC Losses for face to face stacks of four identical coated conductors (CCs) were numerically calculated using the H-formulation combined with the E-J power law and the Kim model. The motive sample was the face to face stack of four 2 mm-wide CC tapes with 2 ${\mu}m$ thick superconducting layer of which the critical current density, $J_c$, was $2.16{\times}10^6A/cm^2$ on IBAD-MgO template, which was suggested for the mitigation of ac loss as a round shaped wire by Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute. For the calculation the cross section of the stack was simply modeled as vertically aligned 4 rectangles of superconducting (SC) layers with $E=E_o(J(x,y,t)/J_c(B))^n$ in x-y plane where $E_o$ was $10^{-6}$ V/cm, $J_c$(B) was the field dependence of current density and n was 21. The field dependence of the critical current of the sample measured in four-probe method was employed for $J_c$(B) in the equation. The model was implemented in the finite element method program by commercial software. The ac loss properties for the stacks were compared with those of single 4 cm-wide SC layers with the same critical current density or the same critical current. The constraint for the simulation was imposed in two different ways that the total current of the stack obtained by integrating J(x,y,t) over the cross sections was the same as that of the applied transport current: one is that one fourth of the external current was enforced to flow through each SC. In this case, the ac loss values for the stacks were lower than those of single wide SC layer. This mitigation of the loss is attributed to the reduction of the normal component of the magnetic field near the SC layers due to the strong expulsion of the magnetic field by the enforced transport current. On the contrary, for the other case of no such enforcement, the ac loss values were greater than those of single 4cm-wide SC layer and. In this case, the phase difference of the current flowing through the inner and the outer SC layers of the stack was observed as the transport current was increased, which was a cause of the abrupt increase of ac loss for higher transport current.
The design of industrial arc plasma systems is still largely based on trial and error although the situation is rapidly improving because of the available computational power at a cost which is still fast coming down. The desire to predict the behavior of arc plasma system, thus reducing the development cost, has been the motivation of arc research. To interrupt fault current, the most enormous duty of a circuit breaker, is achieved by separating two contacts in a interruption medium, $SF_{6}$ gas or air etc., and arc plasma is inevitably established between the contacts. The arc must be controlled and interrupted at an appropriate current zero. In order to analyze arc behavior in $SF_{6}$ gas circuit breakers, a numerical calculation method combined with flow field and electromagnetic field has been developed. The method has been applied to model arc generated in the Aachen nozzle and compared the results with the experimental results. Next, we have simulated the unsteady flow characteristics to be induced by arcing of AC cycle, and conformed that the method can predict arc behavior in account of thermal transport to $SF_{6}$ gas around the arc, such as increase of arc voltage near current zero and dependency of arc radius on arc current to maintain constant arc current density.

In order to overcome the power fluctuation issues in photovoltaic (PV) smart grid-connected systems and the inverter nonlinearity model problem, an adaptive backstepping command-filter and a double second order generalized Integrators (DSOGI) controller are designed in order to tune the AC current and the DC-link voltage from the DC side. Firstly, we propose to present the filter mathematical model throughout the PV system, at that juncture the backstepping control law is applied in order to control it, Moreover the command filter is bounded to the controller aiming to exclude the backstepping controller differential increase. Additionally, The adaptive law uses Lyapunov stability criterion. Its task is to estimate the uncertain parameters in the smart grid-connected inverter. A DSOGI is added to stabilize the grid currents and eliminate undesirable harmonics meanwhile feeding maximum power generated from PV to the point of common coupling (PCC). Then, guaranteeing a dynamic effective response even under very unbalanced loads and/or intermittent climate changes. Finally, the simulation results will be established using MATLAB/SIMULINK proving that the presented approach can control surely the smart grid-connected system.
The Gaussian process model (GPM) is a flexible surrogate model that can be used for nonparametric regression for multivariate problems. A unique feature of the GPM is that a prediction variance is automatically provided with the regression function. In this paper, we estimate the safety margin of a nuclear power plant by performing regression on the output of best-estimate simulations of a large-break loss-of-coolant accident with sampling of safety system configuration, sequence timing, technical specifications, and thermal hydraulic parameter uncertainties. The key aspect of our approach is that the GPM regression is only performed on the dominant input variables, the safety injection flow rate and the delay time for AC powered pumps to start representing sequence timing uncertainty, providing a predictive model for the peak clad temperature during a reflood phase. Other uncertainties are interpreted as contributors to the measurement noise of the code output and are implicitly treated in the GPM in the noise variance term, providing local uncertainty bounds for the peak clad temperature. We discuss the applicability of the foregoing method to reduce the use of conservative assumptions in best estimate plus uncertainty (BEPU) and Level 1 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) success criteria definitions while dealing with a large number of uncertainties.
