  • This paper analyses current densities induced inside a worker using AC arc welder. Applying the boundary element method, we calculate current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he was located at 1cm, 3cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm far from a power cable of AC arc welder. As results of study, we find a maximum current density induces at a heart surface and may be higher than $10mA/m^2$ of ICNIRP guideline if he works within 15cm from a power cable.

  • This paper analyses current densities induced inside a worker using AC arc welder when he wear a protective with double shielding cloth. Applying the boundary element method, we calculate current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he was located at 1[cm] far from a power cable of AC arc welder. As results of study, we fined aa protective cloth, which has high permeability in inner layer and high conductivity in outer layer, can give a higher shielding efficiency.

  • This paper analyses current densities induced inside a worker using AC arc welder when he wears a protective cloth. Applying the boundary element method, we calculate current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he was located at 1[cm], 15[cm], 20[cm] far from a power cable of AC arc welder. As results of study, we find a maximum current density induced in all organs may be lower than 10[$mA/cm^2$] if he wears a protective cloth. We also know high permeability materials can lower current density more than high conductivity materials.

  • Power cable of an AC arc welder can surround a body of worker at the moment of welding. Applying the boundary element method, we calculated current densities induced in organs inside a worker to study the magnetic field reduction characteristics of shielding wear materials. We knew shielding wear with high permeability materials lowers current density more than high conductivity materials. We also found current density was lowest when high permeability materials were inside high conductivity materials in double layer shielding wear.

  • In this paper A switched mode AC/DC three phase boost converter with high power factor and sinusoidal input current waveform is analyzed and simulated. The proposed converter retain high power factor and sinusoidal input current waveform even under electric arc welder load. It is shown that experimental result and simulation waveform yield a sinusoidal input current waveform at high power factor.

  • The shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) by AC power source was performed to evaluate the arc stability by arc monitoring and analysing. In this study, the arc stability index was evaluated quantitatively by using he coefficient of resistance variation for welding time. This coefficient was obtained for the long time (20sec.) by analysing the waveforms of welding current, voltage and resistance. The coefficient was applied to indicate numerically the variation level of arc length and the degree of arc extinction. Using the coefficient of resistance variation in practical welding, the arc stability of the high titanium oxide electrode (KS E4313) turned out to be better than that of the low hydrogen electrode (KS E4316). In evaluating the skill level of welders by the coefficient, the horizontal fillet weaving welding became clear to be very discriminating because the higher level welder could weave in keeping constant arc length, but the lower level welder showed the characteristics of weaving with the unstable arc length. And it was confirmed that the welding defects as blow holes was formed when the arc stability index were high.

  • In this paper, we analyze control methods and structures of AC arc-welders, which is a prerequisite to develop a low-cost and high accurate welder. By using the finite element methods, three types of AC an-welders, movable-core, movable-coil, and saturated-reactor type, are modeled and characterized in the coupled domain of electro-magnetic system.

  • Power cable of an AC arc welder can surround a body of worker at the moment of welding. Applying the boundary element method, we calculated current densities induced in organs inside a worker in case he weared a multi-layer shielding cloth. We know these were lowest when high permeability materials such as silicon and permalloy were applied to the interior of a suit and high conductivity materials such as copper were to the exterior.
