  • A modified ABS algorithm for solving a class of singular non-linear systems, $F(x) = 0, $F\;\in \;R^n$, constructed by combining the discreted ABS algorithm and a method of Hoy and Schwetlick (1990), is presented. The second differential operation of F at a point is not required to be calculated directly in this algorithm. Q-quadratic convergence of this algorithm is given.

  • Based on the recently developed ABS algorithm for solving linear Diophantine equations, we present a special ABS algorithm for solving such equations which is effective in computation and storage, not requiring the computation of the greatest common divisor. A class of equations always solvable in integers is identified. Using this result, we discuss the ILP problem with upper and lower bounds on the variables.

  • The general scheme of an algorithm, called an ABS-FRE algorithm, for solving systems of fuzzy relation equations (systems of FRE) via the ABS algorithms is presented. As special cases, two particular algorithms for obtaining the greatest and minimal solutions of systems of FRE are described. Several new operations used in this scheme are given, for instance, operators $\veebar$ and $\underline{\wedge}$ called quasi-inverses of operators $\vee$ and $\wedge$, respectively, etc.

  • Using the recently developed ABS algorithm for solving linear Diophantine equations we introduce an algorithm for solving a system of m linear integer inequalities in n variables, m $\leq$ n, with full rank coefficient matrix. We apply this result to solve linear integer programming problems with m $\leq$ n inequalities.

  • In this paper, it is to development of brake system with ABS function for aircraft. The test of brake system is required before applying on aircraft. The real-time dynamic simulator with 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is developed for braking performance test of ABS (Anti-skid Brake System) control h/w with anti-skid brake functions. The dynamic simulator is real-time interface system that is composed of dynamic simulation parts, master control parts, digital and analog in/out interface parts, and user interface parts. The 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is composed of a big contour and a little contour by simulation s/w. The big contour represents the interactions of forces in airframe, nose and main landing gear, and engines on the center of gravity. The little contour represents interactions of wheel, braking units, hydraulic units and a control unit. ABS control h/w unit with ABS control algorithm is also developed and is tested with simulator under the some conditions of gripping coefficient. We have known that ABS control h/w unit on wet or snowy runway as well as dry runway very well protects wheel skid.

Off-line CORDIC Vector Rotation Algorithm for High-Performance and Low-Power 3D Geometry Operations (고성능/저전력 3D 기하 연산을 위한 오프라인 CORDIC 벡터회전 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, to make a high performance and low power CORDIC architecture for 3D operations in mobile devices, we suggest two off-line vectoring algorithms named Angle Based Search (ABS) and Scaling Considered Search (SCS). The ABS algorithm represents a 3D vector with two angles and those angles are used as a condition for searching CORDIC rotation sequences. The SCS algorithm determines the best CORDIC rotation sequence in advance to eliminate extra scaling computation. Using the proposed algorithms, we can observe 50% of latency is reduced. Furthermore, we perform a simple analysis and discuss possible reduction of power consumption by applying voltage scaling method together with the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a simple but effective DYC algorithm which enhances vehicle lateral stability by using an anti=lock brake system (ABS). In the proposed algorithm, only the front outer wheel is controlled during cornering maneuver instead of controlling all four wheels because the wheel has the largest role in DYC and it is easy and simple to control the only one wheel. An ABS Hardware - In -The -Loop Simulation ( HILS) system that may be used to realistically test real vehicle dynamic behavior in a lab is used for evaluating the proposed DYC algorithm in severe situations where a vehicle is destabilized without DYC . The HILS results show that the proposed DYC algorithm has the potential of maintaining vehicle stability in some dangerous situations.

  • Antilock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheels from being locked-up under emergency braking of a vehicle. Therefore it improves directional stability of the vehicle, shortens stopping distance, and enhances maneuvering during braking, regardless of road conditions. Hardware In-the-Loop Simulation (HILS) is an effective tool for design Performance evaluation and test of vehicle subsystems such as ABS, active suspension, and steering systems. This paper describes a HILS model for ABS/ ASR(Acceleration Slip Regulation) system applications. A fourteen degrees-of-freedom vehicle dynamics model is simulated in an alpha-chip processor board. The proposed HILS system is tested with a basic ABS control algorithm. The design and implementation of HILS system for the ABS ECU(Electronic Control Unit) development of commercial vehicle are presented. The results show that the proposed HILS system can be used to test the performance, stability, and reliability of a vehicle under braking.

  • Anti-lock Braking System(ABS) is a device which prevents the wheels form locked up under emergency braking of a vehicle. So it helps the vehicle to maintain the steerability and shortens the braking distance by maintaining optimal frictional force during braking since the tire road slip is controlled in acceptable range. Recently, ABS is accepted as a standard equipment in vehicles, especially in commercial vehicles(bus and trucks).
