The rising demand for carotenoids can be met by microbial biosynthesis as a promising alternative to chemical synthesis and plant extraction. Several species of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) specifically produce C30 carotenoids and offer the added probiotic benefit of improved gut health and protection against chronic conditions. In this study, the recently characterized Lactiplantibacillus plantarum subsp. plantarum KCCP11226T produced the rare C30 carotenoid, 4,4'-diaponeurosporene, and its yield was optimized for industrial production. The one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) method was used to screen carbon and nitrogen sources, while the abiotic stresses of temperature, pH, and salinity, were evaluated for their effects on 4,4'-diaponeurosporene production. Lactose and beef extract were ideal for optimal carotenoid production at 25℃ incubation in pH 7.0 medium with no salt. The main factors influencing 4,4'-diaponeurosporene yields, namely lactose level, beef extract concentration and initial pH, were enhanced using the Box-Behnken design under response surface methodology (RSM). Compared to commercial MRS medium, there was a 3.3-fold increase in carotenoid production in the optimized conditions of 15% lactose, 8.3% beef extract and initial pH of 6.9, producing a 4,4'-diaponeurosporene concentration of 0.033 A470/ml. To substantiate upscaling for industrial application, the optimal aeration rate in a 5 L fermentor was 0.3 vvm. This resulted in a further 3.8-fold increase in 4,4'-diaponeurosporene production, with a concentration of 0.042 A470/ml, compared to the flask-scale cultivation in commercial MRS medium. The present work confirms the optimization and scale-up feasibility of enhanced 4,4'-diaponeurosporene production by L. plantarum subsp. plantarum KCCP11226T.

Zeolite 4A-impregnated complex molecular sieve was prepared by hydrothermal reaction after aluminosilicate gel was penetrated into the pore of activated carbon granule. The crystals of zeolite 4A mainly were formed in the macropore of activated carbon, and their average diameter is $0.8{\mu}m$. The pore volume of activated carbon granule is $0.67m{\ell}/g$, and the pore volume of the sample including 21.6wt% of zeolite 4A crystal is $0.41m{\ell}/g$ decreasing the pore volume by 40% due to the crystallization of zeolite 4A crystals on the internal surface of activated carbon. The calcium ion exchange capacity of zeolite 4A-impregnated sample is 320mg $CaCO_3/g$ zeolite, and this value is almost the same as that of zeolite 4A powder. The crystal of zeolite 4A was not separated from the support of activated carbon granule in the course of ultrasonic dispersion. The adsorption isotherm of water on zeolite 4A-impregnated sample shows the intermediate shape between types, I and III. In addition, zeolite 4A-impregnated sample shows the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties simultaneously.
This paper proposes a unified $4{\times}4$ transform architecture for HEVC and VP9 codec to reduce hardware size. It performs HEVC $4{\times}4$ IDCT, HEVC $4{\times}4$ IDST, VP9 $4{\times}4$ IDCT, and VP9 $4{\times}4$ IADST in a unified hardware. HEVC $4{\times}4$ IDCT and VP9 $4{\times}4$ IDCT have same IDCT computation except for the scales of coefficients. Similarly, HEVC $4{\times}4$ IDST and VP9 $4{\times}4$ IADST have same IDST computation except for the scales of coefficients. Furthermore, IDCT and IDST have quite a lot of similarity, so they can share some hardwares in common. So the proposed hardware performs all 4 operations in a unified hardware, where each operation has its own multiplication coefficients with shared butterfly adders. The synthesized block in 0.18 um technology is 6,679 gates, and the gate count is reduced by 25.3% in comparison with conventional designs.
Econazole nitrate, 1-{2-[(4-chlorophenyl)methoxy]-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl) ethy1}-1H-imidazole mono-nitrate.C18 H16 CI13 N3 O4 Mw=444.7 Monoclinic P/2₁c,a=17.337(4)A, b=15.191(5), c=7.601(3)A, β=91.72(2)', V=2000.9A3, Z=4, Dc=1.49g/cm3, Dm=1.45g/cm3(mo-ka)= 0.7107A, μ=4.31cm-1, F(000)=912.0, T=298'K, final R=0.061 for 1330 unique observed reflection. Each of the three ring system for the stars with B,A and C ring in order whilst A and C ring of econazole lie close to the same plane which is nearly 60˚with B ring. The hydrogen binding nitrogen of C ring and oxygen of nitrate contributes to stailization of econazole nitrate. Intr and intermolecular distances and angles are within the values recorded for simiar compounds.
Second-order rate constants $k_N$ have been measured for reactions of benzyl 2-pyridyl thionocarbonate (4b) and t-butyl 2-pyridyl thionocarbonate (5b) with a series of cyclic secondary amines in MeCN at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. The $k_N$ values for the reactions of 4b and 5b have been compared with those reported previously for the corresponding reactions of benzyl 2-pyridyl carbonate (4a) and t-butyl 2-pyridyl carbonate (5a) to investigate the effect of changing the electrophilic center from C=O to C=S on reactivity and reaction mechanism. The thiono compound 4b is more reactive than its oxygen analogue 4a. The Br${\o}$nsted-type plots for the reactions of 4a and 4b are linear with ${\beta}_{nuc}=0.57$ and 0.37, respectively. The reactions of 4a were previously reported to proceed through a concerted mechanism, while those of 4b in this study have been concluded to proceed through a stepwise mechanism with formation of an intermediate being the rate-determining step on the basis of the ${\beta}_{nuc}$ value of 0.37. Enhanced polarizability upon changing the C=O in 4a by C=S has been suggested to be responsible for the reactivity order and the contrasting reaction mechanisms. In contrast, the reactivity of 5a and 5b is similar, but they are much less reactive than 4a and 4b. Furthermore, the reactions of 5a and 5b have been concluded to proceed through the same mechanism (i.e., a concerted mechanism) on the basis of linear Bronsted-type plots with ${\beta}_{nuc}=0.45$ or 0.47. It has been concluded that the strong steric hindrance exerted by the t-Bu in 5a and 5b causes a decrease in their reactivity and forces the reactions to proceed through a concerted mechanism.
The purpose of this paper is to give an upper bound for A[n,4], the maximum number of codewords in a binary code of word length n with minimum distance 4 between codewords. We have improved upper bound for A[12k+11,4]. In this correspondence we prove $A[23,4]\leq173716$.
Eight numerically dominant 4-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy) butyric acid (2,4-DB)-degrading bacteria and three pairs of bacteria showing syntrophic metabolism of 2,4-DB were isolated from soils, and their phylogenetic and phenotypic characteristics were investigated. The isolates were able to utilize 2,4-DB as a sole source of carbon and energy, and their 2.4-DB degradative enzymes were induced by the presence of 2.4-DB. Analysis of 16S rDNA sequences indicated that the isolates were related to members of the genera, Variovorax, Sphingomonas, Bradyrhizobium, and Pseudomonas. The chromosomal DNA patterns of the isolates obtained by polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR) amplification of repetitive extragenic palindromic (REP) sequences were distinct from each other. Four of the isolates had plasmids, but only one strain, DB 1, rad a transmissible 2,4-D degradative plasmid. When analyzed with PCR using primers targeted to the tfdA, B, and C genes, only strains DB2 and DB9a produced DNA bands of the expected sizes with the tfdA and C primers, respectively. All of the isolates were able to degrade 2,4-D as well as 2,4-DB, suggesting that the degradation pathways of these compounds were closely related to each other, but respiratory activities of many isolates adapted to 2,4-DB metabolism were quite low with 2,4-D.
Two isolated strains, Comamonas testosteroni CPW301 and Arthrobacter ureafaciens CPR706, were able to use 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as a sole carbon and energy source. CPW301 was found to degrade 4-CP via a meta-cleavage pathway in which the chloro-substituent was eliminated even when 4-chlorocatechol was cleaved by the catechol 2, 3-dioxygenase. In contrast, CPR706 removed chloride from 4-CP prior to the ring-fission reaction, producing hydroquinone as a transient intermediate during 4-CP degradation. CPR706 exhibited much higher tolerance for 4-CP than CPW301, which was indicated by the maximum degradable concentration and degradation rate.
The reaction of 2-aminobenzamide with phthalic acid anhydride In dioxane produced a bicyclic product 2,8-dioxoisoindole(1,2,a) quinazoline (I) in addition to hydrolysis product 2(2-Carboxyphenyl)-1,2-2H-quinazoline-4-one (II). The yields were 64% and 30% respectively. On the other hand, the same reaction in DMF afforded compound (I) and 2(2N-dimethyl carbamyl phenyl)-1,4-2H-quinazoline-4-one (III) in 30% and 60% yield respectively. The compound III was also obtained by the reaction of compound II with dimethylamine. However the reaction of 2-aminobenzamide with neat succinic acid anhydride gave only bicyclic product 2,8-oxopyrrolidine (2,1,a)-1,4-2H-quinazoline (IV) in 93%.
2',4'-Dihydroxychalcone (2',4'-DHC) was identified from a heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90)-targeting library as a compound with Hsp90 inhibitory and antifungal effects. In the presence of 2',4'-DHC ($8{\mu}g/mL$), radial growth of Aspergillus fumigatus was inhibited 20% compared to the control, and green pigmentation was completely blocked. The expression of the conidiation-associated genes abaA, brlA, and wetA was significantly decreased (approximately 3- to 5-fold) by treatment with 2',4'-DHC. The expression of calcineurin signaling components, cnaA and crzA, was also significantly reduced. The inhibitory effects of 2',4'-DHC on metabolic activity and mycelial growth were significantly enhanced by combination treatment with itraconazole and caspofungin. Docking studies indicated that 2',4'-DHC bind to the ATPase domain of Hsp90. These results suggest that 2',4'-DHC act as an Hsp90-calcinurin pathway inhibitor.
