A microorganism which produced D-glucose isomerase was identified to be similar to Streptomyces antibioticus on the morphological, cultural and physiological characteristics except the spore chain and the utilization of sucrose. D-xylose grown cells of Streptomyces sp. strain K-17 were disrupted by grinding with sea sand. D-glucose isomerase was partially purified with the fractionation by ammonium sulfate, Mn-treatment, DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, DEAE-sephadex (A-50) column chromatography and gel filtration of sephadex G-200. The enzyme was purified about 380 fold with 25 ％ recovery.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating and moderating effects of fall-related efficacy and social support on the relationship between frailty and health-related quality of life among rural community-dwelling elderly. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a convenient sampling method, and data of 438 elderly residents living in a rural community was used. The structured questionnaire included items from the Euro Quality of life-5 Dimensions (mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort, anxiety/ depression), fall-related efficacy and social support. Results: Analysis of the mediating effect of fall-related efficacy and social support showed that there was significant mediating influence of fall-related efficacy on the relationship between frailty and health-related quality of life. There were no moderating effects of fall-related efficacy and social support. Conclusion: The findings suggest that fall-related efficacy may play a role in reducing the effect of frailty on health-related quality of life and underscore the need to consider ways of enhancing fall-related efficacy in interventions for rural community-dwelling frail elderly.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of significant panoramic radiographic findings and eventual treatment requirements before conventional or implant supported prosthetic treatment in asymptomatic edentulous patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A total of 743 asymptomatic edentulous patients were retrospectively evaluated using a digital panoramic system. We analyzed the radiographic findings, including impacted teeth, retained root fragments, foreign bodies, severe atrophy of the posterior maxillary alveolar bone, mucous retention cysts, soft tissue calcifications and radiopaque-radiolucent conditions. RESULTS. Four-hundred-eighty-seven (65.6%) patients had no radiographic finding. A total of 331 radiographic findings were detected in 256 (34%) patients. In 52.9% (n=175) of these conditions, surgical treatment was required before application of implant-supported fixed prosthesis. However, before application of conventional removable prosthesis surgical treatment was required for 6% (n=20) of these conditions. CONCLUSION. The edentulous patients who will have implant placement for implant-supported fixed prosthesis can frequently require additional surgical procedures to eliminate pathological conditions.

Acute transverse myelitis (ATM) in most patients is characterized by an abrupt onset of progressive weakness and sensory disturbance in the lower extremities with a preceding viral infection such as Epstein-Barr, herpes simplex, influenza, mumps and Varicella-zoster viruses (VZV). Although less frequent, some residual deficits including bladder dysfunction or weakness in the lower extremities may follow ATM, from which recovery usually begins within the first week of the onset of symptoms. In this report, we describe the case of a 9-year-old girl who experienced ATM following chickenpox and had bladder dysfunction as a sequela.

In order to analyze of the color perception Farnsworth Test Panel D-15 in the CIELab color space coordinates, it was measured by the reflectance spectrum of the 380~780nm wavelength regions. The Test Panel D-15 was situated in the near origin point of higher the saturation in CIELab coordinates (a, b). Normal person perceived to the similar color for the color of small color difference, and color deficiency person depended on the confusing color line and the neutral point unconcerned with the color difference. In case of Ptotanopia, Deutrnopia, r-g defect, y-b defect with the color deficiency, the neutral points position (a,b) were each (2.12,1.02), (4.25,2.05), (2.51,0.25), (1.20,-1.10).

While mobile IPTV services are supported through the mobile WiMAX networks, there must need some guaranteed bandwidth for the IPTV services especially if IPTV and non-IPTV services are simultaneously supported by the mobile WiMAX networks. The quality of an IPTV service definitely depends on the allocated bandwidth for that channel. However, due to the high quality IPTV services and to support of huge non-IPTV traffic over mobile WiMAX networks, it is not possible to guarantee the sufficient amount of the limited mobile WiMAX bandwidth for the mobile IPTV services every time. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the mobile IPTV service provider and mobile WiMAX network operator to reserve sufficient bandwidth for the IPTV calls can increase the satisfaction level of the mobile IPTV users. In this paper, we propose a SLA negotiation procedure for mobile IPTV users over mobile WiMAX networks. The Bandwidth Broker controls the allocated bandwidth for IPTV and non-IPTV users. The proposed dynamically reserved bandwidth for the IPTV services increases the IPTV user's satisfaction level. The simulation results state that, our proposed scheme is able to provide better user satisfaction level for the IPTV users.

The temperature dependence of $^{23}Na$ nuclear magnetic resonance in a $NaMnCl_{3}$ single crystal grown by the Czochralski method has been investigated by employing a Bruker FT NMR spectrometer operating at 4.7 T. The quadrupole coupling constant of $^{23}Na$ in $NaMnCl_{3}$ increases as the temperature increases. The temperature dependence of $e^{2}qQ/h$ may be fitted with a linear equation of the form $e^{2}qQ/h=155+0.117(T-T_{r})\;kHz$ for the temperature range of 140-380 K.

Multilayer coatings of $WO_3$ were deposited by the sol-gel technique on microscope slide glass and ITO coated glass. These films were characterized optically, chemically, and structurally by XRD, spectro-photometry, DTA/TGA, SEM/EDAX and RBS. Uniform $WO_3$ sol-gel films were dip coated on slide glass at dipping speed of 5mm/s. This sample indicated a low near IR transmittance in optical properties as a result of coloration using a dilute HCI electrolyte as the $H^+$ion sources. Differential thermal analysis results have allowed the accurate determination of the formation temperature of the $WO_3$ crystalline phase from the gel data in the range of $380^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$, consistent with crystallization temperature of sol-gel film. RBS spectrometry was performed on the uncolored $WO_3$ sol-gel film, yielding a chemical composition of $WO_3$.

SIME(Single Machine Equivalent) method has been recognized as a useful tool to determine transient stability of power system. In this paper, SIME method is used to develop the KEPCO transient stability assessment (TSA) tool. A new screening algorithm that can be generators are identified by a new index in the early stage of the time domain simulation. Thus, computational time require to find OMIB(One Machine Infinite Bus) can be reduced significantly. Second, clustering critical machines can be performed even in very stable cases. It enables to be avoid extra calculation of time trajectory that is needed in SIME for classifying the stable cases. This algorithm is applied to the fast TSA of the KEPCO system in the year of 2010.

A lectin was isolated from the fruiting bodies of Lampteromyces japonicus by preparative PAGE and named LJAP (Lampteromyces japonicus antibacterial protein). LJAP was a polymeric protein of more than one hundred kDa consisting of 17-kDa subunits. The amino acid analysis revealed a high content of serine, glycine, and acidic amino acids. LJAP has an excellent antibacterial activity for Escherichia coli, JM 109, K 12, HB 101, and JW 380. By the inhibition assay of the antibacterial activity, a glycoprotein, asialofetuin was confirmed as the best inhibitor. This is the first lectin isolated and characterized its antibacterial and agglutination activities from the family Lampteromyces.
