In the semi-solid die casting process, the important thing is the flow behaviors of semi-solid material. The flow patterns of semi-solid material can make the defects during die filling. To control of the flow patterns, is very important and difficult. In this paper, the flow behaviors of the semi-solid A356 alloy material during die filling at various die gate shapes has been observed with the grain size controlled material. The effects of the gate shape on the die filling characteristics were investigated. The filling tests in each plunger strokes were experimented, also simulated on the semi-solid material die casting process by MAGMAsofi. According to the filling tests and computer simulation, the effect of the gate shape on liquid segregation had been investigated.

In thixoforming process, the size of Si particles is changed by many parameters of forming. Especially, reheating and heat treatment are very important parameters. It was found that the mechanical properties was significantly improved by the thixoforming process. In this study, to investigate the relation between the mechanical properties and Si particles, the experiment of semi-solid die casting has been performed. Large suspension part with A356 alloy was fabricated with controlled ram speed. The effect of the size and shape of silicon particles on microstructure of tensile test has been investigated.
For this paper, we investigated the area specific resistance (ASR) of commercially available ferritic stainless steels with different chemical compositions for use as solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) interconnect. After 430h of oxidation, the STS446M alloy demonstrated excellent oxidation resistance and low ASR, of approximately 40 $m{\Omega}cm^2$, of the thermally grown oxide scale, compared to those of other stainless steels. The reason for the low ASR is that the contact resistance between the Pt paste and the oxide scale is reduced due to the plate-like shape of the $Cr_2O_3$(s). However, the acceptable ASR level is considered to be below 100 $m{\Omega}cm^2$ after 40,000 h of use. To further improve the electrical conductivity of the thermally grown oxide on stainless steels, the Co layer was deposited on the stainless steel by means of an electroless deposition method; it was then thermally oxidized to obtain the $Co_3O_4$ layer, which is a highly conductive layer. With the increase of the Co coating thickness, the ASR value decreased. For Co deposited STS444 with 2 ${\mu}m$hickness, the measured ASR at $800^{\circ}$ after 300 h oxidation is around 10 $m{\Omega}cm^2$, which is lower than that of the STS446M, which alloy has a lower ASR value than that of the non-coated STS. The reason for this improved high temperature conductivity seems to be that the Mn is efficiently diffused into the coating layer, which diffusion formed the highly conductive (Mn,Co)$_3O_4$ spinel phases and the thickness of the $Cr_2O_3$(S), which is the rate controlling layer of the electrical conductivity in the SOFC environment and is very thin

The control head components used in small military vessels are designed to be domestically produced, prototypes, structural analysis, and casting methods are designed and cast. The control head assembly consists of a lever, an aluminum outside cover, Middle, front gear cover, back gear cover, and a zinc worm gear. In order to reverse the design of each component, 3D scanning device was used, 3D modeling was performed by CATIA, and prototype productions were carried out by 3D printer. In order to reduce the cost of components, gating system is used by gravity casting method. The SRG ratio of 1:0.9:0.6 was set by applying non-pressurized gating system to aluminum parts, 1:2.2:2.0 and pressurized gating system to zinc parts, and the shapes of sprue, runner and gate were designed. The results of porosity were also confirmed by casting analysis in order to determine whether the appropriate gating system can be designed. The results showed that all parts started solidification after filling completely. ANSYS was used for structural analysis, and the results confirmed that all five components had a safety factor of 15 more. All castings are free of defects in appearance, and CT results show only very small porosity. ZnDC1 zinc alloy worm gear has a tensile strength of 285 MPa and an elongation of 8%. The tensile strength of the four components of A356 aluminum alloy is about 137-162 MPa and the elongation is 4.8-6.5%.
Planarization of the free-standing diamond film surface as smooth as possible could be obtained by using the hydrogen plasma etching with the diffusion of the carbon species into the metal alloy (Fe, Cr, Ni). For this process, we placed the free-standing diamond film between the metal alloy and the Mo substrate like a metal-diamond-molybdenum (MDM) sandwich. We set the sandwich-type MDM in a microwave-plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) system. The sandwich-type MDM was heated over ca. 1000 $^{\circ}C$ by using the hydrogen plasma. We call this process as the hydrogen plasma etching with carbon diffusion process. After etching the free-standing diamond film surface, we investigated surface roughness, morphologies, and the incorporated impurities on the etched diamond film surface. Finally, we suggest that the hydrogen plasma etching with carbon diffusion process is an adequate etching technique for the fabrication of the diamond film surface applicable to electronic devices.
This study delves into the significant impact of integrating nanomaterials, specifically carbon and graphene nanoparticles, into the polymer matrix of aluminum alloy 356, utilizing the vortex casting technique, with the aim of improving the mechanical properties of table tennis equipment. Athletes and their coaching teams have long been on a quest for high-performance sports gear, recognizing its pivotal role in unlocking the full potential of players. The dedication of engineers to craft designs, select materials with precision, and uphold stringent testing standards reflects the commitment to meeting the demands of the sporting world. Yet, to remain at the forefront, sports engineering must continually align with contemporary technologies, and nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force in this regard. This study not only underscores the meticulous efforts in material integration but also highlights the remarkable strides made possible by nanotechnology. Aluminum nanocomposites, particularly, showcase a groundbreaking fusion of exceptional strength and reduced weight, marking a notable achievement in sports equipment innovation. The research outcomes are compelling, revealing a substantial enhancement in the mechanical performance of the sports structures under scrutiny. This promising development hints at a potential paradigm shift in the manufacturing of sports equipment, promising a new era of elevated athlete performance and enhanced safety during the rigors of physical education training. This study stands as a testament to the tangible impact of nanotechnology on the ever-evolving landscape of sports equipment.

This paper deals with a flat type ultrasonic motor, which uses a longitudinal-bending multi mode vibrator of rectangular form. This ultrasonic motor was designed by combination of the first longitudinal and eighth bending mode, and the motor consisted of a straight aluminum alloy bar bonded with piezoelectric ceramic elements as a driving element. The geometrical dimensions of the rectangular aluminum vibrator were determined by Euler-Bernoulli theory In the experimental device, piezoelectric ceramics ( a piece of ceramic for the L-mode, $24\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$, and four pieces for the B-mode, $12.5\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$) were attached to one side of a aluminum plate($100\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$), and the stator was supported with a plastic case. As results, no-load rpm was 50[rev./m] when applied voltage was 150[Vrms] at the resonance frequency, and as the voltage was increased, the rpm was increased.

This study presents a mathematical model predicting the stress-strain behavior of fiber reinforced (FMMCs) and fiber/particle reinforced metal matrix composites (F/P MMCs). MMCs were fabricated by squeeze casting method using Al2O3 short fiber and particle as reinforcement, and A356 aluminum alloy as matrix. The fiber/particle ratios of F/P MMCs were 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 with the total reinforcement volume fraction of 20 vol.%, and the FMMCs were reinforced with 10 vol,%, 15 vol. %, 20 vol. % of fibers. Tensile tests were conducted and compared with predictions which were derived using laminate analogy theory and multi-failure model of reinforcements. Results show that the tensile strength of FMMCs with 10 vol.% of fiber was well matched with prediction, and as the fiber volume increases, predictions become larger than experimental results. The difference between the prediction and experiment is considered to be a result of matrix allowance of fiber damage in tensile loading. As the fiber volume fraction in FMMCs increases, the fiber damage increases and so that the tensile strength is reduced. The strength of F/P MMCs approaches more closely to the prediction than FMMCs reinforced with 20 vol.% of fibers because F/P MMCs contains small quantity of fibers and thus has a positive effect in fiber strengthening.
For the deformation, life time prediction and improvement of the life time in high temperature materials it's very important to know the mechanism of deformation. For these mechanisms the dislocation loop models of Orlova et al. and Mills et al. are used often now. But they show controversial differencies, even if they have unertaken similar experimental tests with the same alloy of A1-5.5at.% Mg. In this work also the similiar tests of them have done under the same temperature of 573 K ; (1) The specimen was deformed by $\sigma$= 30MPa and $\varepsilon$=0.03. (2) Direct after creep deformation of $\sigma$= 30MPa and $\sigma$= 0.03 the stress reduction tests to 15, 10 and OMPa have been performed. (3) To study the loop models dislocation structure and dislocation density ( p ) have been observed.
To improve the quality of the product and the cost efficiency, the joining of A356 alloy to an Al-18wt%Si alloys has been performed by centrifugal casting. The influence of the mold preheating temperature, the pouring temperature and the rotational velocity of the mold on the microstructures of the shell in the centrifugal casting was investigated using the experimental and simulation methods. In the present study, the cellular automaton (CA) technique and the finite volume method (FVM) were adopted to simulate the evolution of the macro structures and to calculate the temperature profiles, respectively. The evolution of the microstructures was also simulated using a modified cellular automaton (MCA) model. The optimal rotational speed of the mold for obtaining the sound shape of the shell was estimated experimentally to be over 1200 rpm. For the uniform microstructure, the outer shell needs to be cast with higher preheated mold temperature and lower pouring temperature, and the melt was poured at lower temperature in the inner shell. In order to obtain the sound shape of the joining, the different materials were poured simultaneously.
