Background: There haven't been any papers that have analyzed the recent trends in the changing attitudes and results of Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons who submit scientific papers to the major cardiothoracic journals. Material and Method: I analyzed the original articles that were published in the major cardiothoracic surgery journals from 1995 to 2008 by Korean thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. The data was retrieved from the internet websites of Pubmed, three major international SCI (Science Citation Index) journals and the Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. I then analyzed the data according to the chronological year, the subjects and the subspecialties. Result: The total number of original articles in the three international journals was 14,629. Among them, the number of articles written by Korean scientists was 157 (1.07%). A sharp increase was identified from 28 articles out of 7,674 articles (0.36%) prior to 2002, to 129 articles out of 6,955 articles (1.83%) after 2003. On the other hand, the annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was markedly decreased from 126.8 articles by 1999 to 80.0 articles after 2000. The annual number of articles in the Korean Journal was also decreased from 58.8% by 1999 to 48.3% after 2000. Conclusion: There was an observed increase in submitting articles to the international SCI journals after 2000 rather than to the Korean journal. The proportion of original articles in the Korean journal is also decreasing. I think we need to pay special attention to improve the quality and quantity of articles published in the Korean journal.

This study was conducted to investigate the amounts of capsaicinoid and free sugar, as well as ASTA color values in three pepper cultivars grown in different regions of Korea. Pepper cultivars from ten different regions of Korea were collected in 2011 and 2012. The capsaicinoid contents of the three cultivars, Urigun, Bugang, and Muhanjilju, varied in the range of 52.53~362, 15.35~126.40, and 3.41~50.86 mg/100 g, respectively, depending on their cultivation region. Among the three cultivars, Urigun had the highest average capsaicinoid content, followed by Bugang and Muhanjilju. The free sugar contents of Urigun, Bugang, and Muhanjilju varied in the range of 18.29~35.54, 16.91~32.83, and 18.63~33.21%, respectively, depending on the region. Average free sugar contents did not vary significantly among the cultivars grown in different regions as well as in different years. The ASTA color values of Urigun, Bugang, and Muhanjilju varied in the range of 57.17~132.61, 66.23~139.49, and 85.43~133.26, respectively. ASTA color values of the three cultivars grown in 2012 were significantly higher than those grown in 2011. Variations in the amounts of capsaicinoids, free sugar contents, and ASTA color values observed in this study can be attributed to the intrinsic genetic characteristics of each cultivar or alternatively to the environmental conditions. We assume that the quantity of capsaicinoid is affected more by the genotype than the cultivation region, whereas the reverse holds for the variations in free sugar quantity and ASTA color values.

국내 주요기업(83개)의 개인정보보호책임자를 대상으로 조사한 결과 1백만명 이상의 개인정보를 수집하고 있는 기업이 61.4%(08년 기준)나 되고 국내 개인정보 침해건수는 2005년 18,000여건이던 건수가 급격하게 증가하여 2008년에는 39,000여건에 이르고 있다. 국민들이 개인정보를 안전하게 관리하는 기업을 손쉽게 식별할 수 있는 기준이나 정보가 미흡한 실정이며, 기업 스스로가 개인정보 침해사고를 사전에 방지하고 개인정보를 안전하게 관리할 수 있는 개인정보보호 체계의 필요성이 절실한 시기이다. 이에 본고에서는 국내 외(개인)정보보호관리체계 동향을 비교 분석하고 국내 환경에 적합하도록 개인정보보호에 특화된 개인정보보호관리체계 인증제도를 소개하고 구축에 필요한 방법을 선구축한 기업의 입장에서 살펴보고자 한다.

7월은 산업안전보건의 달이다. 지난해 1년동안 산업재해로 인한 인명피해는 사망 불구.노동 불능을 합쳐 15만6천9백72명에 이르렀다. 이 같은 엄청난 인력손실 외에 경제적 손실도 지난해의 경우 5천8백8l억원에 달했다. 이는 83년도 GNP (국민총생산)의 1 %에 해당하고 있으며, 산업발전과 경제성장에 따라 매년 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 생산성을 높이는 데만 치우쳐 천대받아온 산업안전과 보건문제가 점차 중요한 경제.사회문제로 인식되고 있다. 이에 따라 대한산업보건협회는 지난 10일 서울 여의도 전경련회관에서 정부와 노사.학계 관계자들을 초청, 산업안전보건에 대한 세미나를 갖고, 이에 대한 대책과 개선방안을 모색했다. 이날 세미나에 참석한 사람들의 의견을 모아 본다.

자동화라는 것은 1788년에 유명한 James Watt의 증기기관에 있어서 조속기에서 처음으로 찾아볼 수 있다고 하며, 그후도 각종기기에서 부분적인 자동제어화된 예를 볼 수가 있다. 그러나, 현대 적이고 본질적인 자동화는 1914년에 Ford 자동차직립공장에서 흐름적립선을 설치하여 다량생산 방식의 근대산업을 개발하여 생산과정을 진정한 의미로 기계화하고 설인간화하였는데 있다고 하며 현대적감독의 자동화라는 말도 1946년에 출현한 transfer machine에 대하여 사용한 것이 처음이라고 한다 여하간 모든 산업에 있어서의 자동화는 현대산업발전의 촉진제로서 역할을 하여 획기적인 변혁을 가져왔고 경제발전의 원동력으로서의 자리를 굳혔을 뿐 아니라 설안간화, 성 력화의 단계를 넘어서 무인화의 영역에 도전하기에 이르렀다. 자동화 무인화의 영역에 도전하 기에 이르렀다. 자동화의 기술은 초기의 기계적방법을 거쳐서 유압식, 전기전자식으로 발전하였 으며, 현대과학기술의 정화인 전산기와 결합되어 종합과학기술로 발전하였고 앞으로 더욱 가속 화될 것이 기대된다.

(사)한국포장기술사회(회장 김기태)는 제87회 기술사 자격시험에서 8명의 포장기술사가 합격했다고 전했다. 올해 탄생한 포장기술사는 $\blacktriangle$ 율촌화학(주) 소재생산1 팀 홍건화 팀장 $\blacktriangle$ 삼성전자 원진식 책임연구원 $\blacktriangle$ (주) 화승인더스트리 생산부 정해군 부장 $\blacktriangle$ 씨피엔피기술연구원 문홍철 대표 $\blacktriangle$ 앰텍테크 민성기 대표 $\blacktriangle$ CJ제일제당 박광수 차장 $\blacktriangle$ 롯데중앙연구소 서택교 수석연구원 $\blacktriangle$ 서흥캅셀 조성 부장 등으로 국내 포장기술사는 총 83명으로 늘어났다. 포장기술사는 포장분야의 최고 기술전문사로 일상생활에 밀접하게 연관되어 있는 포장의 기술적 발전과 적합한 사용을 위해 노력하고 있다, 현재 국내 포장기술사는 (사)한국포장기술사회를 중심으로 국내 포장 문화 진흥에 주력하고 있다 본 고에서는 2009년 포장기술사 합격자들의 합격 소감과 향후 계획을 들어보았다.

Articles in Public Opinion Quarterly have some implications to the Korean survey research community in such a way that the types of researches to improve survey qualities and meta analyses of previously conducted survey researches seem to be the most useful and necessary at present.

올해는 광복 63주년, 건국 60주년이 되는 해다. 대한민국은 건국 초기 1인당 국민소득 50달러를 밑도는 최빈국에서 반세기만에 무려 400배 가까운 신장으로 선진국 문턱에 바짝 다가서는 '한강의 기적'을 일궜다. 경제성장과 민주화라는 두마리 토끼를 성공적으로 잡은 대한민국을 초고속 성장으로 이끈 견인차가 과학기술임을 부인할 수 없다. 1970-80년대의 중화학공업, 1990-2000년대의 전자 및 IT, 생명공학(BT), 자동차.철강.조선 등 우리 경제를 이끌어온 성장 동력의 저변엔 우수 두뇌의 눈부신 활약이 있었다. 무엇보다 갖가지 열악한 여건 아래서도 인력 양성과 산업 입국을 통해 나라를 부강하게 했던 원로들의 눈물겨운 희생과 헌신이 오늘의 우리를 있게 한 것이다. 그러나 그에 대한 점검과 정리는 미흡하다. 공교롭게도 전사회적으로 과학기술계 홀대와 이공계 기피 풍조가 만연하면서 우리는 선진국 문턱에서 주춤거리고 있다. 월간 '과학과 기술'은 이달부터 '과학원로에게 듣는다'를 신설, 지난 60년 동안 우리 과학기술계를 이끌어온 원로들의 활약과 혜안, 그리고 조언을 경청하고자 한다. 그리하여 대한민국이 다시금 성장의 추동력을 받아 온전한 선진국 반열에 들어서는데 일조하게 되기를 간절히 소망한다.

현대 의학기술의 발달에 따라 양질의 의료서비스를 원하는 것은 민간뿐만 아니라 군내에서도 활발히 이루어져 의료서비스를 제공 및 제공받는 것이 기존 의료수혜의 수준을 벗어난 당연한 권리이며 우리 의무병과는 이러한 권리를 보장해 줄 의무를 갖고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 이 글에서는 미군이 1984년도 시험평가 후 광범위하게 사용하고 있는 DEPMEDS(전개형의무시설)을 미군야전교범을 토대로 하여 개발배경, 추진경과, 설치운용시 고려사항 및 각 구성품(Component)별 기능과 배치도에 대해 고찰해 보았따. 또한 독일군이 1998년 이후 전력화하여 유럽 각국 및 NATO에서 실전배치하고 있는 EADS Dornier사의 TransHospital 장비 관련자료 등 서방국가 전개형의무시설에 대한 고찰을 통하여 한국적 전개형의무시설 개발의 필요성과 차후 정책추진 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
