  • In lactic acid fermentation, the end product inhibition by lactic acid causes several problems. The most important of which are low lactate formation rate and its recovery from fermentation broth. To overcome these problems, extractive lactic acid fermentation was carried out in a bioreactor, which was connected to a column packed with anion exchange resin (Amberlite IRA-400, 250 g). The system was started as a batch process, and then the separation process was started when the lactic acid concentration reached 10 g/L, 20 g/L or 30 g/L. In each case, total lactic acid concentration was reached to 48.6, 53.6, 52.6 g/L with its productivity of 1.2 g/L $.$ h, 1.6 g/L $.$ h, and 1.3 g/L $.$ h, respectively Especially, in the case of the 20 g/L recycling-initiation process, extractive fermentation reduced tie fermentation time (17 hrs) by 34% in comparison with the conventional batch process. The direct consequence of this time reduction was shown by a 1.8 fold increase in overall lactic acid productivity.

  • The amounts of organic carbon and several nutrients in litterfall on the forest floor of Quercus mongolica forest were assessed for two years from 1998 through 2000 in Mt. Songnisan National Park in Korea. The amounts of organic carbon (C) in litterfall were the highest in autumn with the values of $150.4g/m^2$ (62.6%) in 1998 and $219.2g/m^2$ (61.0%) in 1999. In winter, organic C was the lowest with the values of $16.3g/m^2$ (6.8%) in 1998 and $12.5g/m^2$ (6.7%) in 1999. It was estimated that the organic C added to forest floor via litterfall was 240.1 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ and 186.6 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ 1998 and 1999, respectively. The amounts of nitrogen (N) in litterfall were the highest in autumn with the values of 5.9 $g/m^2$ (58.0%) in 1998 and 5.2 $g/m^2$ (62.3%) in 1999. The amount of phosphorus (P) in litterfall showed its peak in autumn with 0.19 $g/m^2$ (52.9%) in 1998 and 0.11 $g/m^2$ (52.6%) in 1999. The amount of P returned to forest floor via litterfall was 0.35 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1998 and 0.22 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1999. The amount of potassium (K) in litterfall showed its peak in autumn with 0.57 $g/m^{2}$ (53.8%) in 1998 and 0.42 $g/m^2$ (55.3%) in 1999. The amounts of K returned to forest floor via litterfall was 1.11 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1998 and 0.81 $g{\cdot}m^{-2}yr^{-1}$ in 1999.

  • Water is the most important resource for the potato cultivation, especially to get the maximum water use efficiency and yield of potato, Water has to be applied moderately based on the water requirement of the potato. Crop water requirement (WR) is a function of the Potential evapo-transpiration(PET) and Crop coefficient (Kc). PET can be estimated by the climate data measured at the weather station in the production region. Kc was measured by the NIAST (RDA) through Lysimeter experiments. In this study, the growth stage of potato was divided as four (G-1 : Apr. 1~Apr. 15, G-2 : Apr. 16~May. 10, G-3 : May. 11~May. 31, G4 : Jun. 1~Jun. 15). The average PET during potato growing season of the 45 areas was $2.95mm\;day^{-1}$. The most water requirement was the G-3 stage among the potato growth stage. The MWR (Mean water requirement) according to growth stage was 1.0~1.2 (average 1.1), 1.5~1.8 (average 1.6), 1.9~2.2 (average 2.0) and 1.7~2.1 (average 1.8) mm $day^{-1}$, in the G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4 stage, respectively. The TWR (Total water requirement) according to growth stage was 18.0~22.1 (average 19.3), 50.6~66.6 (average 56.3), 63.5~88.2 (average 72.4) and 38.3~54.5 (average 44) mm, in the G-1, G-2, G-3 and G-4 stage, respectively.

  • Melt blend of PA6/PP-g-MA system containing SEBS-g-MA as a compatible impact modifier was prepared to investigate the change of mechanical properties and morphologies. The tensile strength slightly decreased, but the elongation at break increased with increasing content of SEBS-g-MA in the blend. Also the notched izod impact strength increased with increasing the content of PP-g-MA and SEBS-g-MA. It is attributed to improved compatibilization and interfacial adhesion by reaction of the amide of PA6 with maleic anhydride of SEBS-g-MA and PP-g-MA. The result of dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) showed a typical behavior of the compatibilization in the polymer blends. Finally, in the phase structure observed by the use of SEM, we confirmed improvement of the compatibilization and interfacial adhesion with increasing the content of SEBS-g-MA and PP-g-MA.

  • While the fifth generation (5G) and beyond 5G (B5G) mobile communication networks are being rolled over the globe, several world-wide companies have already started to prepare the sixth generation (6G). Such 6G mobile networks targets ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). In this paper, we challenge to reduce the inherent latency of existing non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in 5G networks of massive connectivity. First, we propose the novel unipodal binary pulse amplitude modulation (2PAM) NOMA, especially without SIC, which greatly reduce the latency in existing NOMA. Then, the achievable data rates for the unipodal 2PAM NOMA are derived. It is shown that for unequal gain channels, the sum rate of the unipodal 2PAM NOMA is comparable to that of the standard 2PAM NOMA, whereas for equal gain channels, the sum rate of the unipodal 2PAM NOMA is superior to that of the standard 2PAM NOMA. In result, the unipodal 2PAM could be a promising modulation scheme for NOMA systems toward 6G.

  • The reaction mechanism of the pyrolysis of sulphonyl oximes ($CH_3-C_6H_4-S(O)_2O-N=C(H)-C_6H_4Y$), in the gas phase is studied theoretically at HF/3-21G, ONIOM (B3LYP/6-31G**:HF/3-21G) and ONIOM (MP2/6- 31G**:HF/3-21G) levels. All the calculations show that the thermal decomposition of sulphonyl oximes is a concerted asynchronous process via a six-membered cyclic transition state. The activation energies (Ea) predicted by ONIOM (B3LYP/6-31G**: HF/3-21G) method are in good agreement with the experimental results for a series of tosyl arenecarboxaldoximes. Five para substituents, Y = $OCH_3$, $CH_3$, H, Cl, and $NO_2$, are employed to investigate the substituent effect on the elimination reaction. Linear Hammett correlations are obtained in all calculations in contrast to the experimental finding.

  • Rhodamine dyes belong to xanthene family has excellent photostability and photophysical properties. In rhodamine dyes, Rhodamine 6G and its precursors also have xanthene chromophore and it shows high fluorescent quantum yield. Rhodamine 6G derivates are simple to synthesis and its high sensitivity and water solubility are suitable as good chemosensor. In this regard, Rhodamine 6G derivates which have selectivity to specific metal cation can used to detect various heavy metal ions. In this study, rhodamine 6G derivatives were synthesized by reaction of rhodamine 6G hydrazide and glyoxal and 4-phenyl thiosemicarbazide and it showed colorimetric and fluorescence sensing toward $Hg^{2+}$ ion. This novel chemosensor was analyzed and measured on UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometer. HOMO/LUMO values were also calculated by computational calculation.

  • PMMA was grafted on MWCNT surface in order to prepare conducting film composed of 6FDAbased polyimide/MWCNT. The electrical conductivity of 6FDA-based polyimide/PMMA-g-MWCNT was investigated as a function of PMMA-g-MWCNT content. Dispersion of MWCNT in 6FDA-based polyimide composite film was better than the pristine MWCNT due to the interaction force between PMMA and 6FDA-based polyimide. Electrical conductivity was interpreted by percolation threshold theory. As a result, 6FDA-6FpDA/PMMA-g-MWCNT which have high critical exponents and low critical concentration showed better dispersion than polyimide composite material that contains DABA(diamino benzoic acid).
