The purpose of this study was to investigate the projectile factors and biomechanical characteristics of men's hammer throwing during turning phases. Four national leveled athletes including Korea national record holder participated in this study. After full warm-up, each participant performed 6 trials of hammer throwing with their best. The best recorded trial was selected from each participant and they were analyzed for this study. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 5 video cameras at a sampling frequency 60Hz was performed for this study. As the number of turns increased, athletes revealed following characteristics. 1) The single and double support time decreased. 2) The rotation foot was closed to axis foot and it revealed greater medio-lateral displacement than that of horizontal one. 3) At the transition point from double support to single support, ball was in front of rotation foot so that not much angular velocity obtained. For the projectile factors, projectile angle did not show differences while projectile height and velocity revealed differences among the participants. It may indicated that each athlete has different fitness and skill level to resist centrifugal force which become larger as the number of turn increased.

The introduction of geodetic methods of absolute displacement monitoring in tunnels has significantly improved the value of the measurements. Structurally controlled behavior and influences of an anisotropic rock mass can be determined, and the excavation and support adjusted accordingly. Three-dimensional finite element simulations of different weakness zone properties, thicknesses, and orientations relative to the tunnel axis were carried out and the function parameters were evaluated from the results. The results were compared to monitoring results from Alpine tunnels in heterogeneous rock. The good qualitative correlation between trends observed on site and numerical results gives hope that by a routine determination of the function parameters during excavation the prediction of rock mass conditions ahead of the tunnel face can be improved. Implementing the rules developed from experience and simulations into the monitoring data evaluation program allows to automatically issuing information on the expected rock mass quality ahead of the tunnel.
The purpose of this study was to investigate a three dimensional kinematic variables about the last stride and the release phase of the throwing technique for female javelin throwers. For the motion analysis, Six female javelin throwers were used as subjects. Three-dimensional coordinates were collected using the Kwon3D Motion Analysis Package Version 2.1 Program. Two S-VHS Video Cameras were used to record the locations and orientations of control object and the performances of the subjects at a frequency of 6.0 HZ. After the kinematic variables such as the time, the distance, the velocity, and the angle were analyzed about the last stride and release phase, the followings were achieved; 1. For the effectively javelin throwing, the subjects appeared to do long the approach time in the phasel of landing phase, and short the delivery time in release phase 2. In the release event, the other subjects except for subject A appeared to throwing in the lower condition than the height of themselves. This result showed to slow the projecion velocity. 3. For increase the projection vcelocity of the upper extremity joint in the release event, it appeared to do extend rather the shoulder angle than increase the extension of elbow joint. 4. The body of COG angle showed to gradually increase nearly at the vertical axis in the release event. But the front lean angle of trunk showed a small angle compare to increase of the body of COG angle. Therefore for the effectively momentum transmission of the whole body in the javelin, the front and back lean angle of trunk appeared to do fastly transfer the angle displacement in the arch posture or the crescent condition during the deliverly motion of the release phase.

This study was carried out to compare the amount of the maxillary bone remodeling and tooth displacement in each three maxillary superimposition methods, Ricketts, Best-fit, Structural method. Forty cases of the lateral cephalometric radiographs from 27 boys and 13 girls who had been treated to correct anterior cross-bite were selected for the study. The initial radiographs were taken at about 8-year-old and the second radiographs were taken in about 3.3 years later. Followings were the results: 1. With the Structural method, backward movement was shown in PNS, while forward movement was observed in ANS and point A. With the Ricketts method, however, all structures were shown significant backward movement comparing with Structural method(P<0.05). With the Best-fit method, the amount of horizontal movement was similar to that of the Structural method(P>0.05). 2. The palate seemed to be moved downward with Structural method, but there was no measured downward remodeling on nasal floor with Ricketts and Best-fit method(P<0.05). 3. Comparing with Structural method, Ricketts and Best-fit method significantly underestimated the eruption of the teeth by 20% to 30% (P<0.05). 4. The Structural method showed the anteroinferior rotation (43%) and posteroinferior rotation(57%) of the palatal plane, while the Best-fit method showed mostly anterosuperior rotation(87%), but no change was found in the Ricketts method. 5. With the Structural method, there was a statistically significant correlation between the amount of the rotation of the palatal plane and that of N-S line(r=0.86). 6. The measured angles of the long axis of the incisors and molars showed no significant difference in each 3 methods(P>0.05).

This paper aims at investigating the face stability of large-diameter underwater shield tunnels considering seepage in soft-hard uneven strata. Using the kinematic approach of limit upper-bound analysis, the analytical solution of limit supporting pressure on the tunnel face considering seepage was obtained based on a logarithmic spiral collapsed body in uneven strata. The stability analysis method of the excavation face with different soft- and hard-stratum ratios was explored and validated. Moreover, the effects of water level and burial depth on tunnel face stability were discussed. The results show the effect of seepage on the excavation face stability can be accounted as the seepage force on the excavation face and the seepage force of pore water in instability body. When the thickness ratio of hard soil layer within the excavation face exceeds 1/6D, the interface of the soft and hard soil layer can be placed at tunnel axis during stability analysis. The reliability of the analytical solution of the limit supporting pressure is validated by numerical method and literature methods. The increase of water level causes the instability of upper soft soil layer firstly due to the higher seepage force. With the rise of burial depth, the horizontal displacement of the upper soft soil decreases and the limit supporting pressure changes little because of soil arching effect.
The bridge tested was 3 spans 90m-long PSC beam concrete bridge with a stub-type abutment which had a skew of 60$^{\circ}$ about the axis of bridge. A cement concrete was placed at the superstructural slab of the bridge. Inclinometers and straingauges were installed at piles as well. During 7 days-curing of superstructural slab, the pile behavior in response to hydration heat and drying shrinkage of the slab was monitored. Then monitored values were compared with the horizontal movement obtained from the HACOM program and the calculated lateral behavior obtained from the nonlinear p-y curves of pile. As a result, lateral behavior of H-piles by the field measurement occurred due to the influence of hydration heat and drying shrinkage obtained during curing of superstructural concrete. The lateral displacements by hydration heat and drying shrinkage were 2.2mmand 1.4mm respectively. It was observed as well that the inflection point of lateral displacement of pile was shown at 1.3m down from footing base. It means that the horizontal movement of stub abutment did not behave as the fixed head condition of a pile but behave as a similar condition. The measured bending stress did not show the same behavior as the fixed head condition of pile but showed a similar condition. The increment of maximum bending stress obtained from the nonlinear p-y curves of pile was about 300(kgf/$\textrm{km}^2$) and was 2 times larger than measured values regardless of installation places of straingauges. Meanwhile, lateral load, maximum lateral displacement, maximum bending stress and maximum bending moment of pile showed a linear behavior as curing of superstructural concrete slab.
A palaeomagnetic study was carried out on Early through Late Cretaceous sandstones and volcanic sequences (the Songnaedong Formation, Chaeyaksan Volcanics, Konchonri Formation, and Jusasan Andesite it ascending order) from Konchonri area in the northern Milyang subbasin of the Kyongsang Basin, Korea. A high-temperature stable remanence with direction of $d=22.9^{\circ},\;i=59.1^{\circ}\;({\alpha}_{95}=3.0^{\circ})$ has been isolated and a corresponding pole was $71.6^{\circ}N,\;199.6^{\circ}E\;(A_{95}=4.2^{\circ})$. The characteristic high-temperature component resides in both hematite and magnetite. The primary nature of this remanence is confirmed from positive fold and reversals tests, The palaeopole is consistent with those of the Hayang Group in other parts of the Kyongsang Basin. A comparison of the palaeomagnetic pole position from the studied area with the contemporary pole from China west of the Tan-Lu fault presents that Konchonri area has experienced little latitudinal displacement nor vertical-axis block rotation relative to the Chinese blocks since the Cretaceous. Based on the formations indicating dual polarity, radiometric and paleontologic data, the magnetostratigraphic age of the studied sequence from the Songnedong Formation to the Jusasan Andesite ranges from upper Albian to lower Campanian reverse polarity chronozone. On the other hand, volcanic samples of the Chaeyaksan Volcanics and the Jusasan Andesite showed the scattered directions considered in group, even though individual sample showed a stable remanent magnetization in response to thermal demagnetization. It indicates that they have been reworked after acquisition of the stable remanent magnetization.

The aim of this study was to analyze the initial movement and the stress distribution of each tooth and periodontal ligament during the lingual lever-arm retraction of 6 maxillary incisors using FEA. Two kinds of finite element models were produced: 2-properties model (simple model) and 24-properties model (multi model) according to the material property assignment. The subject was an adult male of 23 years old. The DICOM images through the CT of the patient were converted into the 3D image model of a skull using the Mimics (version 10.11, Materialise's interactive Medical Image Control System, Materialise, Belgium). After series of calculating, remeshing, exporting, importing process and volume mesh process was performed, FEA models were produced. FEA models are consisted of maxilla, maxillary central incisor, lateral incisor, canine, periodontal ligaments and lingual traction arm. The boundary conditions fixed the movements of posterior, sagittal and upper part of the model to the directions of X, Y, Z axis respectively. The model was set to be symmetrical to X axis. Through the center of resistance of maxilla complex, a retraction force of 200g was applied horizontally to the occlusal plane. Under this conditions, the initial movements and stress distributions were evaluated by 3D FEA. In the result, the amount of posterior movement was larger in the multi model than in the simple model as well as the amount of vertically rotation. The pattern of the posterior movement in the central incisors and lateral incisors was controlled tipping movement, and the amount was larger than in the canine. But the amount of root movement of the canine was larger than others. The incisor rotated downwardly and the canines upwardly around contact points of lateral incisor and canine in the both models. The values of stress are similar in the both simple and multi model.
This study was intended to perform the influence of condyle positional change after surgical correction of skeletal Class III malocclusion after orthognathic surgery in 37 patients(male 13, female 24) using computed tomogram that were taken in centric occlusion before, immediate after, and long term after surgery and lateral cephalogram that were taken in centric occlusion before, 7 days within the period of intermaxillary fixation, at the 24 hours later removing intermaxillary fixation and long term after surgery. 1. Mean intercondylar distance was $84.42{\pm}5.30mm$ and horizontal long axis of condylar angle was $12.79{\pm}4.92^{\circ}$ on the right, $13.53{\pm}5.56^{\circ}$ on the left side. Condylar lateral poles were located about 12mm and medial poles about 7mm away from the reference line(AA') on the axial tomogram. Mean intercondylar distance was $83.15{\pm}4.62mm$ and vertical axis angle of condylar angle was $76.28{\pm}428^{\circ}$ on the right, $78.30{\pm}3.79^{\circ}$ on the left. 2. In amount of set back, We found the condylar change(T2C-T1C) which had increasing tendency in group III (amount of setback : 10-15mm). but there was no statistical significance(p>0.05). 3. There was some correlation between condylar change(T2C-T1C) and TMJ dysfunction. It seemed that postoperative condylar change had influenced postoperative TMJ dysfunction, through there was no statistical significance (p>0.05). As we have observed the change of condylar axis in the group that complained of TMJ dysfunction in cases of large amount of mandibular setback. So we consider that the more trying to conserve condylar position will decrease occurrence rate of post operational TMJ dysfunction.

The refraction expansion joints have been newly developed by complementing the problems of shock, noise, replaceability, displacement in the direction perpendicular to bridge, vertical difference, which are problems of existing expansion joints. The Refraction expansion joints are characterized by continuous surfaces with small impact and low noise. The behavior of the Refraction expansion joints performs the bridge expansion behavior by rotation of the link. In the rotational behavior of the link, the bolt is the central axis of the behavior. Therefore, it can be said that the durability of the bolt is very important. However, the theoretical and experimental verification of the bolt durability of the Refraction expansion joint is lacking. In this paper, to verify the fatigue durability of the bolt, test specimens with a 300 mm Refraction expansion joint were fabricated. A strain gauge dedicated to the bolt was installed inside the manufactured test specimen bolt. The test method was applied in accordance with KS F 4425. The fatigue durability of the bolts assembled inside the diaphragm expansion joint was confirmed by the repeated fatigue test of 2,000,000 cycles.
