Estimating Network Externalities Mark-up in Mobile Telecommunications Service in Korea (이동통신서비스 외부성 마크업 추정)

  • This paper constructed a model estimating mobile nework externalities based on Ofcom model and estimated externalities mark-up. The main results are as follows: 1) there are 15,626,711 marginal subscribers in mobile network irrespective of its maturity. 2) the value of network externalities ranges 2.1 billions won to 435.4 billions won. 3) the extrenalities mark-up to support marginal subscribers ranges 0.03 won to 6.47 won. This results provide useful implications to policy about mobile network terminations fee as well as externalities mark-up disputes.

Biomechanical Characteristic on Lower Extremity with or without Chronic Ankle Instability during Double Leg Drop Landing (양발 드롭랜딩 시 만성적인 발목 불안정성 유무에 따른 하지주요관절의 역학적 특성)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate differences of landing strategy between people with or without chronic ankle instability (CAI) during double-leg drop landing. Method: 34 male adults participated in this study (CAI = 16, Normal = 18). Participants performed double-leg drop landing task on a 30 cm height and 20 cm horizontal distance away from the force plate. Lower Extremities Kinetic and Kinematic data were obtained using 8 motion capture cameras and 2 force plates and loading rate was calculated. Independent samples t-test were used to identify differences between groups. Results: Compared with normal group, CAI group exhibits significantly less hip internal rotation angle (CAI = 1.52±8.12, Normal = 10.63±8.44, p = 0.003), greater knee valgus angle (CAI = -6.78±5.03, Normal = -12.38 ±6.78, p = 0.011), greater ankle eversion moment (CAI = 0.0001±0.02, Normal = -0.03±0.05, p = 0.043), greater loading Rate (CAI = 32.65±15.52, Normal = 18.43±10.87, p = 0.003) on their affected limb during maximum vertical Ground Reaction Force moment. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that CAI group exhibits compensatory movement to avoid ankle inversion during double-leg drop landing compared with normal group. Further study about how changed kinetic and kinematic affect shock absorption ability and injury risk in participants with CAI is needed.

  • A new dithering algorithm, "Hi-FRC", to enable full (16,777,216) color display on LCD panel with 6-bit source D-IC's is presented. The conventional FRC can display only 16,194,277 colors. In addition, The LCD panel with Hi-FRC can meet the color grayscale linearity of TCO '03 because it can improve the color shift problem.

  • 방사성동위원소를 이용한 아스팔트함량 측정장비의 실험적인 방법에 의한 설계는 많은 시간과 비용이 소요되므로, 코드모사를 통해 설계할 경우 이러한 노력을 줄일 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 장비의 활용성을 증대시키기 위해 법적 규제 면제치인 100 $\mu$Ci이하의 방사성동위원소를 이용하며, 6%의 아스팔트함량을 갖는 혼합물을 5분간 측정하였을 경우 0.2%이내의 함량측정오차를 갖는 장비를 MCNP 코드를 이용하여 설계하였다 또한 코드 모사를 통한 설계를 바탕으로 장비를 제작한 후 5개의 시료에 대한 함량을 측정하고 그 결과를 비교하여 코드의 적용가능성을 검증하였다 실험결과 6.03% 아스팔트 함량을 가진 시료를 5분간 측정하여 5.85%의 함량을 얻을 수 있었다.

The Relationship between Pesticide Exposure and Central Nervous System Symptoms (농약 노출과 중추신경 증상과의 관련성)

  • Objectives: The acute toxic effects of pesticide are well known. Concern has also been expressed that long-term exposure may result in damage to the central nervous system. This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that central nervous system symptoms might occur due to pesticide exposure. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, first, cumulative exposure index (CEI) was estimated. Neurologic symptoms (Q-16 questionnaire) for 541 farmers (exposed to pesticides) were compared with 119 non-exposed persons in spraying season nine rural areas in Korea. Results: The pesticides poisoning rates for last 3 months were 67.2% for orchard farmers, 55.3%for dry field farmers, and 20.5% for husbandry farmers, respectively, showing significant difference (p<0.001). Compared with non-exposure group, exposure groups (especially, orchard farmers) reported significantly more neurologic symptoms and had a higher overall neurological symptoms score (p<0.001). Factors related to the positive neurological symptoms (answers "yes" to six or more of Q-16 questionnaire) adjusted for age, sex, education level, smoking and alcohol drinking were type of farming (OR 3.08, 95% CI 1.50-6.30 in orchard farmers vs non-exposure group), CEI (OR 2.75, 95% CI 1.12-6.78 in Q3 vs Q1), past poisoning (OR 1.97, 95% CI 1.21-3.20 vs normal), current mild poisoning (OR 3.03, 9500 CI 1.47-6.22 vs normal) and current moderate poisoning (OR 6.34, 95% CI 3.03-13.25 vs normal), respectively. Conclusions: These results suggest that long-term exposure to pesticides appears to be associated with subtle changes in the central nervous system.

  • Ninty four strains of lysine producing micro-organisms in culture broth during fermentation have been isolated from soil and other sources. From the comparison of the amounts of lysine produced, 6 strains have been selected as the potentially useful strains, and identified tentatively as Micrococcus sp. (S-16-4), Corynebactcrium sp. (S-27-12, S-281-3, CBY-4) and Brevibacterium sp. (M-6-71, F-629-2), respectively. From the further studies with Corynebacterium sp., S-27-12, its maximum yield was found to be 4mg lysine/ml of synthetic medium, consist of glucose(7.5%), urea(0.6%), $KH_2PO_4(0.2%)$, $Na_2HPO_4(0.05%)$, $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O(0.03%)$, $MnSO_4{\cdot}4H_2O(0.001%)$ and $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O(0.0005%)$ at pH 7.2 and $30^{\circ}C$ after 4 days.

Inhibitory Effect of Nisin upon Kimchi Fermentation (김치발효에 대한 Nisin의 저해효과)

  • To examine the inhibitory effect of nisin on Kimchi, comparison of the fermentation pattern was studied between the Kimchi added nisin (100 WIg) and the control Kimchi at 15cC. The Kimchi added nisin was showed pH 4.03 at 7 days fermentation, on the other hand the control Kimchi showing pH 4.04 at 5 days. And total acidity (lactic acid%) showed 0.47,0.69,0.88 at 5,9, 14 days fermentation compared with the control Kimchi showing 0.57,0.93, 1.13 respectively. Maximum growth of lactic acid bacteria on the control Kimchi indicated 1.8, 1.6 x 108 CFU/ml at 7 days but on presence of nisin indicated 9.5,6.4 x 107 CFU/ml at 5 days. In conclusion, nisin showed inhibitory action to Kimchi fermentation from pH, total activity and lactic acid bacteria count results.

Design of CPW-Fed Broadband Antenna Using the CSRR for WLAN Band Notched Characteristic (CSRR을 이용한 WLAN 대역 저지 특성 CPW 급전 광대역 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a broadband antenna of the CPW structure with a band-notched characteristic is presented. To obtain this characteristic, the complementary split ring resonator(CSRR) is inserted in the ground plane. In addition, the IEEE 802.11a WLAN band(5.15~5.825 GHz) appears in the band-notched characteristic. The proposed antenna dimension is $36{\times}60{\times}1.6\;mm^3$, and it is designed on the FR-4 substrate having a relative dielectric constant of 4.4. The designed antenna shows that the resonant frequency is 2.03~10.78 GHz below the return loss of -10 dB and a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied. As a result, the proposed CSRR has a band-notched characteristic in the range of 4.917~6.017 GHz which the center frequency is about 5.4 GHz band.

Volatile Flavor Components in Various Varieties of Grape(Vitis vinifera L.) (포도의 품종별 휘발성 향기성분 분석)

  • Volatile flavor components in three grape(Vitis vinifera L.) varieties were extracted by SDE(Simultaneous steam distillation and extraction) method using the mixture of n-pentane and diethylether(1:1, v/v) as an extract solvent. Grapes of the following varieties were studies : Blackolympia, Campbell and Delaware. The volatile extracts were analyzed by GC-FID and GC/MS. The totals of 77, 72 and 74 volatile flavor components were identified in Blackolympia, Campbell and Delaware, respectively. (E)-2-Hexenal(20.36%), diethylacetal(18.03%), hexanal and ethyl acetate were contained as the main compounds of Blackolympia. In Campbell, ethyl acetate(30.81%) was relatively more abundant than other compounds and among functional groups, C$\_$6/ aldehydes and alcohols were major constituents of the extract. On the other hand, in Delaware, alcohols was the major constituent group and (E)-2-hexenal(21.07%) and (E)-2-hexena1-ol(19.43%) were the main compounds. All of three grape varieties contained a large amount of hexanal, (E)-2-hexenal, hexanol, (E)-2-hexen-1-ol, thus C$\_$6/-compounds proved to be major volatile components of grape and small amount of terpenols were only detected from Delaware.
