  • In this study, we propose a multi-GPU-based 8KVR stitching system that operates in real time on both local and cloud machine environments. The proposed system first obtains multiple 4 K video inputs, decodes them, and generates a stitched 8KVR video stream in real time. The generated 8KVR video stream can be downloaded and rendered omnidirectionally in player apps on smartphones, tablets, and head-mounted displays. To speed up processing, we adopt group-of-pictures-based distributed decoding/encoding and buffering with the NV12 format, along with multi-GPU-based parallel processing. Furthermore, we develop several algorithms such as equirectangular projection-based color correction, real-time CG overlay, and object motion-based seam estimation and correction, to improve the stitching quality. From experiments in both local and cloud machine environments, we confirm the feasibility of the proposed 8KVR stitching system with stitching speed of up to 83.7 fps for six-channel and 62.7 fps for eight-channel inputs. In addition, in an 8KVR live streaming test on the 5G MEC/cloud, the proposed system achieves stable performances with 8 K@30 fps in both indoor and outdoor environments, even during motion.

  • The performances of fish culture were evaluated in the integrated recirculating aquaculture system consisting of a double drain type rearing tank ($2.5 m^3$), a sedimentation tank, a floating bead filter, a foam separator and a rotating biological contactor. A system was stocked with nile tilapia at an initial rearing densities of $5\%$ (A), $5\%$ (B) and $7\%$ (C) oyer 30 days. Feed coefficient was 1.62, 1,79 and 1.80 and average daily growth rate was $0.452\%$, 0.u5% and $0.423\%$, respectively. The level of TAN was maintained below $1 g/m^3$ for $5\%$ of initial rearing density and $2-4 g/m^3$ for $7\%$. The dissolved oxygen level ($2-4 g/m^3$) was not optimum but should not be inhibitory to fish growth. The total suspended solid was completely removed during overall experimental period.

  • Let G be a graph with vertex set V(G) and let f be a nonnegative integer-valued function defined on V(G). A spanning subgraph F of G is called a fractional f-factor if $d^h_G$(x)=f(x) for all x $\in$ for all x $\in$ V (G), where $d^h_G$ (x) = ${\Sigma}_{e{\in}E_x}$ h(e) is the fractional degree of x $\in$ V(F) with $E_x$ = {e : e = xy $\in$ E|G|}. In this paper it is proved that if ${\delta}(G){\geq}{\frac{b^2(k-1)}{a}},\;n>\frac{(a+b)(k(a+b)-2)}{a}$ and $|N_G(x_1){\cup}N_G(x_2){\cup}{\cdots}{\cup}N_G(x_k)|{\geq}\frac{bn}{a+b}$ for any independent subset ${x_1,x_2,...,x_k}$ of V(G), then G has a fractional f-factor. Where k $\geq$ 2 be a positive integer not larger than the independence number of G, a and b are integers such that 1 $\leq$ a $\leq$ f(x) $\leq$ b for every x $\in$ V(G). Furthermore, we show that the result is best possible in some sense.

  • The uranium concentrations were determined in groundwater collected from 3,820 community groundwater system (CGS) located in remote rural areas where access to the nationwide water work is not easy. The frequency distribution of uranium concentrations shows a lognormal distribution which is common in most radionuclide surveys. The measured maximum uranium concentration was $1,757.0{\mu}g/L$ with an average of $6.46{\mu}g/L$ and a median of $0.76{\mu}g/L$. When grouping the uranium concentration results of CGS into 10 geological units, the median uranium concentration was high ($0.99-2.05{\mu}g/L$) in three granite areas, and low in sedimentary rocks areas and porous volcanic rocks areas ($0.04-0.50{\mu}g/L$). Of the 3,820 samples, 3.8% are above the guideline value of $30{\mu}g/L$ (WHO, 2011). On the other hand, the exceeding rates of JGRA and PGRA CGS are 8.5% and 7.5%, respectively. Therefore, attention should be paid for the development of new CGS along with the management of the existing CGS in JGRA and PGRA areas.

  • A holographic display based on a viewing window enables the converging of a reconstruction wave into a viewing window by means of an optical system. Accordingly, a user can observe a reconstructed hologram image, even with a small diffraction angle. It is very difficult to manufacture an optical system with no aberrations; thus, it is inevitable that a certain amount of wave aberrations will exist. A viewing-window-based holographic display, therefore, always includes distortions in an image reconstructed from a hologram pattern. Compensating the distortions of a reconstructed image is a very important technical issue because it can dramatically improve the performance when reconstructing a digital three-dimensional content image from a hologram pattern. We therefore propose a method for suppressing image distortion by measuring and compensating the wave aberration calculated from a Zernike polynomial, which can represent arbitrary wave aberrations. Through our experimental configuration using only numerical calculations, our proposed method decreased the reconstructed image distortion by more than 28%.

  • In the fifth generation (5G) and beyond 5G (B5G) mobile communication, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has attracted great attention due to higher spectral efficiency and massive connectivity. We investigate the impacts of the channel estimation errors on the bit-error rate (BER) of NOMA, especially with the single-user decoding (SUD) receiver, which does not perform successive interference cancellation (SIC), in contrast to the conventional SIC NOMA scheme. First, an analytical expression of the BER for SUD NOMA with channel estimation errors is derived. Then, it is demonstrated that the BER performance degrades severely up to the power allocation less than about 20%. Additionally, we show that for the fixed power allocation of 10% in such power allocation range, the signal-to-noise (SNR) loss owing to channel estimation errors is about 5 dB. As a consequence, the channel estimation error should be considered for the design of the SUD NOMA scheme.

  • From 2015 to June 2020, the backscattering coefficients of 532 and 1064 nm measured using LIDAR and the depolarization ratio at 532 nm were used to separate the backscattering coefficient at 532 nm as three types as PM10, PM2.5-10, PM2.5 according to particle size. The mass extinction efficiency (MEE) of three types was calculated using the mass concentration measured on the ground. The overall mean values of the calculated MEE were 5.1 ± 2.5, 1.7 ± 3.7, and 9.3 ± 6.3 m2/g in PM10, PM2.5-10, and PM2.5, respectively. When the mass concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 was low, higher than average MEE was calculated, and it was confirmed that the MEE decreased as the mass concentration increased. When the MEE was calculated for each type according to the mixing degree of Asian dust, PM2.5-10 was twice at pollution aerosol as high as 2.1 ± 2.8 m2/g, compare to pollution-dominated mixture, dust-dominated mixture, and pure dust of 1.1 ± 1.8, 1.4 ± 3.3, 1.1 ± 1.5 m2/g, respectively. However, PM2.5 MEE showed similar values irrespective of type: 9.4 ± 6.5, 9.0 ± 5.8, 10.3 ± 7.5, and 9.1 ± 9.0 m2/g. The MEE of PM10 was 5.6 ± 2.9, 4.4 ± 2.0, 3.6 ± 2.9, and 2.8 ± 2.4 m2/g in pollution aerosol (PA), pollution-dominated mixture (PDM), dust-dominated mixture (DDM), and pure dust (PD), respectively, and increased as the dust ratio value decreased. Even if the same type according to the same mass concentration or Asian dust mixture was shown, as the PM2.5/PM10 ratio decreased, the MEE of PM2.5-10 decreased and the MEE of PM2.5 showed a tendency to increase.
