Recently, the sixth generation (6G) networks have become tremendous research topics. Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) technologies have been envisioned, to increase spectrum and energy efficiency for the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, towards the sixth generation (6G) communications. In this paper, especially for the strongest channel gain user, we investigate the bit-error rate (BER) of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems with intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). First, we derive a BER expression in a closed-form of Q functions. Second, we investigate the BER performance improvement of IRS NOMA systems over NOMA systems versus the power allocation. Moreover, we analyze the BER performance improvement of IRS NOMA systems over NOMA systems versus the number of IRS devices. In results, NOMA equipped with IRS technologies could play an important role in the paradigm shift from 5G mobile networks to 6G mobile networks.
With the rapid growth of network traffic, a large number of connected devices, and higher application services, the traditional network is facing several challenges. In addition to improving the current network architecture and hardware specifications, effective resource management means the development trend of 5G. Although many existing potential technologies have been proposed to solve the some of 5G challenges, such as multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), edge computing, millimeter-wave, etc., research studies in 5G continue to enrich its function and move toward B5G mobile networks. In this paper, focusing on the resource allocation issues of 5G core networks and radio access networks, we address the latest technological developments and discuss the current challenges for resource management in 5G.

In this paper, we analyze 5G network slicing and propose an efficient network slice configuration method in 5G mobile networks. Network slicing can be identified and performed based on the network slice instance information in 5G mobile networks. In case of discordance between the UE's network slice instance information and the network's one, the unnecessary signalling overhead occurs, when the UE's PDU Session Establishment request to the network fails. To solve this problem, this paper proposes two efficient network slice configuration methods, the UE-based ENSC(Efficient Network Slice Configuration) method and the Network-based ENSC method. The proposed schemes perform the prompt the configuration and provision of the updated network slice instance information between the UE and network and improve battery and resource efficiency and minimize unnecessary signalling overhead compared to existing methods in 5G mobile networks.
The mobile hotspot network (MHN), which is capable of providing a data rate of gigabits per second at high speed, is considered a potential use case of the future enhanced mobile broadband for 5G. Because a unidirectional network deployment has been considered for an MHN, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) can be employed to improve the system performance. For a practical implementation of NOMA under an MHN highway scenario where multiple pieces of MHN terminal equipment are served through the same beam simultaneously, a NOMA transceiver is proposed in this paper. For the NOMA transmitter, Gray-coded QAM constellation mapping is extended to arbitrary modulation order q. For the NOMA receiver, successive interference cancellation (SIC) is no longer necessary, and instead, a parallel demodulation is proposed. The numerical and simulation results suggest that the proposed NOMA transceiver outperforms the conventional NOMA SIC receiver and can be flexibly used for an MHN highway scenario.
In the fifth generation (5G) mobile networks, the mobile services require 100 times faster connections. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In NOMA, the users share the channel resources, so that the more users can be served simultaneously. There are several advantages offered by NOMA, such as higher spectrum efficiency and low transmission latency, compared to orthogonal multiple access (OMA), which is usually used in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks, for example, long term evolution (LTE). In this paper, we compare the receivers for NOMA. The standard NOMA receiver, the non-SIC NOMA receiver, and the symmetric superposition coding (SC) NOMA receiver are compared. Specifically, it is shown that the performance of the standard receiver is the best, whereas the performances of the non-SIC receiver and symmetric SC receiver are dependent on the power allocation.

In this paper, considering virtualized Evolved Packet Core(vEPC) network for 5G mobile network, we propose architecture for supporting Service Function Chaining(SFC) in 5G mobile network. Using SFC in 5G network, dynamic path configuration and providing network services based on subscriber and traffic information. SFC technology provides logical ordered set of network functions and delivers packet through providing logical path over the physical network. Based on the perspective of 5G core network in distributed manner, we design hierarchical SFC architecture to manage SFC for global path including vEPC and SGi-LAN network, and internal path between virtualized network functions in each cloud. In this paper, we define architecture and call flow for establishing data path using SFC. Finally, we design testbed architecture for real implementation based on open source software.
In this paper, we construct a commercial 4K UHD(Ultra High Definition) streaming device that utilizes a 5G mobile communication network as a transport channel and conduct a streaming performance test. It uses RTP(Realtime Transport Protocol) which has transmission quality monitoring capability as a transmission protocol to apply adaptive streaming. In addition, it provides the function to adjust the encoding rate of the video signal so that encoding can be optimized for the change in the bandwidth of the transmission channel. Through the performance test, it is confirmed that the H.265 encoding rate for 4K UHD signal is 48.69Mbps, the average glass-to-glass delay time is 293.60ms, and the average time difference between video and audio for lip sync is 120ms. With the result of performance test, it is shown that the streaming device is applied to 4K UHD Streaming device over 5G mobile communication network.
Recently, mobile telecommunication businesses contend with each other to expand their customer base by using aggressive marketing strategies. In order to determine if there strategies are effective, customer's switching behavior needs to be studied. This study identifies and analyzes direct, indirect factors that may customer switching behavior : attractiveness of alternatives, network externality, and switching cost. Results reveals that attractiveness of alternatives, network externalities have a direct impact on customer switching behavior. These two factors also have moderating effects on customer switching behavior but the switching cost does not In short, network externalities and alternatives strategically determine the success of 3.5G service. In this regard, mobile business should improve their own attractiveness of alternatives by developing specialized service in 3.5G service.

As W-CDMA R5(HSDPA) service became recently commercialized in Korea, there is increasing demand for new pricing methodology for the 3G mobile interconnection at the earliest possible time. However, it is hard to find any case of systematic study on it. In this paper, a synthetic investigation into the three aspects of new mobile telecommunication service - technology, market, and regulation - is conducted to verify the validity of new interconnection pricing methodology. As the findings of this research indicate, given the several technological limits of 3G, speed of mobile telecommunication industry evolution, the problem of verifying ex-ante regulations' validity, and the cases of some foreign countries, it is suggested that immediate revision of interconnection policy is not sensible and that the revision is more desirable to be postponed until the maturity of the 3G market or the adoption of All-IP network.
A heterogeneous network (HetNet) is a network topology composed by deploying multiple HetNets under the coverage of macro cells (MCs). It can improve network throughput, extend cell coverage, and offload network traffic; for example, the network traffic of a 5G mobile communications network. A HetNet involves a mix of radio technologies and various cell types working together seamlessly. In a HetNet, coordination between MCs and small cells (SCs) has a positive impact on the performance of the networks contained within, and consequently on the overall user experience. Therefore, to improve user-perceived service quality, HetNets require high-efficiency network protocols and enhanced radio technologies. In this paper, we introduce a 5G HetNet comprised of MCs and both fixed and mobile SCs (mSCs). The featured mSCs can be mounted on a car, bus, or train and have different characteristics to fixed SCs (fSCs). In this paper, we address the technical challenges related to mSCs. In addition, we analyze the network performance under two HetNet scenarios-MCs and fSCs, and MCs and mSCs.
