The purpose of this study is to develop a thesaurus for women's oral history in modern Korea. Literature review and case studies for four thesauri were performed for this study with which a thesaurus was built based upon the index terms in oral history records. The process of developing the thesaurus consisted of five steps. First, there are 1,784 index terms from the oral history records by 53 modern Korean women were extracted and analyzed. Second, possible terms for the thesaurus were selected through regular meetings with experts in the fields of information organization and women's oral history. Third, relationships between terms were defined by focusing on equivalence, hierarchy, and association. Fourth, after developing a Web-based thesaurus management system, terms and relationships were input to the system. Fifth, terms and relationships were again reviewed by experts from the relevant fields. As a result, the thesaurus comprise of 1,076 terms and those terms were classified to 39 broad subject areas, including proper nouns, such as geographic names, places, person's names, corporate names, and others, and it will be expanded with more oral history records from other people during the same period.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the terms which were described in panels for astronomic article on exhibition at the Gwacheon National Science Museum, and to clarify that the terms were appropriate and easily understandable or not. In research, totally, 965 terms were collected in 52 panels(14 panels in planetarium, 17 panels in national history part, and 21 panels in traditional science part). All terms were categorized to 4types, as 1.Standard/Scientific terms, 2.Non-Standard/Scientific terms, 3.Standard/Non-Scientific terms, 4. Non-Standanrd/Non-Scientific casual words, based on 'Dictionary of Standard Korean' and 'Terminology of Astronomy'. And questionnaires survey was done to 24 in-service teachers at elementary school, middle school, and high school to clarify that the level of the terms are appropriate to students. The results of this study show that accurate scientific terms were 68.5%, and many of students had difficulty in understanding those scientific terms in the panels because of unfamiliarity. Therefore, in order to make students get more interest and better understanding, it is proposed to minimize scientific terms and to substitute them to casual terms which were related with practical life.

The objective of this study was to understand the dietary life of North Koreans through the examination of dietary life terms assembled and classified from the North Korean sources. In order to ascertain any contrasting aspects and also to improve the degree of understanding, the comparable terms from the South Korean sources were also assembled and classified accordingly. The North Korean sources were the two dictionaries and the two Web sites related with the dietary life in North Korea and those of the South Korean sources were the middle school Home Economics textbooks in South Korea. The major findings of this study on the dietary life terms of North Korea were as follows: 1) The majority of the classified dietary life terms was from the food sector; 2) There were terms which were indicative of the food supply situation in North Korea; 3) The terms related to the corn as the primary crop for the North's food production policy occupied relatively a large proportion of the assembled terms; 4) Chinese-and foreign-origin terms seemingly modified through the North's word purification project were found in the various different categories; 5) Some terms were difficult to understand without special interpretation; 6) There were terms related to the agriculture which were obsolete in the South; and 7) In the South's Home Economics textbooks there were a number of the dietary life policy terms of South Korea and foreign-origin terms. It is hopeful that this study may contribute to the mutual understanding in the field of the dietary life for the South and North Korean youths in spite of the language bifurcation due to the South-North separation.
The terms of the one-room dwelling began to attract attention according to increasing of 1-2 person households in the 1990s. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning of the terms about one-room dwelling written in the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms. For this purpose, the first study was divided into three periods. The second study investigated publishing of the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms and analyzed meaning of the one-room dwelling written in the Korean dictionaries and the dictionaries of architecture terms. The result are summarized as follows. 1) 'Bang' and 'Sil', the smallest residence unit, have sense of the living space. 2) The terms written in dictionaries were five terms. It is Dankanbang, Dankan house, Ilsil house, One-room house, Ilsil dwelling. 3) Dankanbang and Dankan house meant a detached house and only a single room. 4) Ilsil house, One-room and Ilsil dwelling meant a multi-unit dwelling. Dwelling type combined unit space in a single room. 5) One-room and Ilsil dwelling focused on convenience and multipurpose. The result of this study is expected to provide useful information for small sized housing study.
The floor plan of the folk houses in Korean-Middle area was "-" type, "ㄱ" type and "double " type. The common terms of lifespaces were Anbang(안방), Wootbang(웃방), Cunnunbang(건넌방), Taechung(대청), Maru(마루), Buoak(부엌), Chungji(정지), Sarangbang(사랑방), Bongdang(봉당). 1) Anbang was basically a master room and was a family room. The function of another presented in Anbang was a space of the dying hour, the mourning decorums, and the memorial services. 2) Wootbang, Cunnunbang was terms that coming from the space position. Such spaces were the private rooms of children. 3) Sarangbang was basically the space of a reception of guests. 4) Buoak, Chungji were cooking and working space. Primarily, Buoak was the terms meaned Bootumk(부뚜막) in Chosun dynasty. 5) Maru, Tachung were terms of presented from side of construction. Specially, it was the chief space in family in Summer. 6) Bongdang was a terms of space that mean working areas, entry hall etc.working areas, entry hall etc.
Purpose: This study was done using meta-analysis to examine 58 studies from studies published in the past eight years (2000 to 2007) that included variables related to adolescents' suicidal ideation. Methods: The materials for this study were based on 32 variables which were selected from masters' thesis, doctoral dissertation and articles from Journals of the Korean Academy of Nursing. Results: The classification consisted of 5 variables groups and 32 variables. In terms of effect size on risk, variables which were significant included psychological variables (0.668), socio-cultural variables (0.511), family environmental variables (0.405), school environmental variables (0.221), and personal characteristics variables (0.147). In terms of effect size on protection, variables which were significant included personal characteristics variables (-1.107), psychological variables (-0.526), family environmental variables (-0.264), and school environmental variables (-0.155). In terms of effect size on risk variables, psychological variables (0.668) were highest. In terms of effect size on protective variables, the variable of personal characteristic (-1.107) was the highest. Conclusion: While the results indicate possible risk and protective variables for suicidal ideation, but prediction is still difficult. Further study to compare adolescents with similar variables but no suicidal ideation and those with suicidal ideation is necessary.
The purpose of this study was to investigate students' understanding of the terms presented on the information board in the Jinan-Muju National Geopark. To this end, a survey was conducted with 219 students (147 elementary, 41 middle, and 31 high school students) to determine the level of their perceptions of the geopark, and of the usefulness of the information board, and their understanding of the terms presented on the information boards of the National Geopark. To determine the students' understanding of terms, 10 representative information boards were selected and the entire content was converted into text. Afterwards, 256 key terms were extracted from the text through discussions with three experts, and these terms were presented to students to grasp their level of understanding. The results were as follows: First, the level of students' perceptions about the geopark was very low, so publicity and educational approaches are needed. Second, students were not interested in the information board and had a low level of understanding owing to the large amount of information and reading difficulties. Third, among the 256 terms, the number of terms that students found difficult to understand tended to decrease with increasing school grade: 80 for elementary school students, 53 for middle school students, and 31 for high school students. The reason the students had difficulty in understanding terms was that elementary school students had not yet learned the terms in the curriculum, whereas middle and high school students have difficulty understanding technical terms and Chinese characters. Therefore, the information board in the geopark will need to be easily translated into Chinese characters or additional explanations of technical terms need to be provided so that visitors can understand the concepts more easily.
By grouping freshly the virtue terms used in herbal medicine, we are apt to establish the position coordinates of concepts and raise the level of the herbal virtue research in future. As the terms related to the herbal virtue used in herbal medicine are used with the virtue terms mingled with the chief treatable disease terms, it's hard to use the herbal virtue data only. And though the virtues terms imply many data like medical act data or medical operation data, we can't use them fully. We sort the terms related to the herbal virtue into the virtue terms and the chief treatable disease terms and acquire many data like medical act data or medical operation data and group the data by same attribute. At this time in the process of classification we establish sort standards inductively, put relations between the attributes in order, out of this result we grasp the actual conditions of the virtue terms used now, and show useful data for herbal virtue research in future. We got the chief treatable disease terms from the ones related to the herbal virtue, acquired a lot of data from the virtue terms and grouped the data by the same attribute. We established a proper standard inductively in the process of classification, put the relations between the attributes in order, grasped the actual conditions of the virtue terms in use at the moment out of the result of the classification and presented the applicable data for the herbal virtue research in future.
Given the evolution of High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor(HTGR) designs, the source terms for licensing must be developed. There are three potential source terms: fission products, actinides in the fuel and tritium in the coolant. It is necessary to provide first an inventory of the source terms under normal operations. An analysis of source terms has yet to be performed for HTGRs. The previous code, which can estimate the inventory of the source terms for LWRs, cannot be used for HTGRs because the general data of a typical neutron cross-section and flux has not been developed. Thus, this paper uses a combination of the MCNP, ORIGEN, and MONTETEBURNS codes for an estimation of the source terms. A method in which the HTR-10 core is constructed using the unit lattice of a body-centered cubic is developed for core modeling. Based on this modeling method by MCNP, the generation of fission products, actinides and tritium with an increase in the burnup ratio is simulated. The model developed by MCNP appears feasible through a comparison with models developed in previous studies. Continuous fuel management is divided into five periods for the feeding and discharging of fuel pebbles. This discrete fuel management scheme is employed using the MONTEBURNS code. Finally, the work is investigated for 22 isotope fission products of nuclides, 22 actinides in the core, and tritium in the coolant. The activities are mainly distributed within the range of $10^{15}{\sim}10^{17}$ Bq in the equilibrium core of HTR-10. The results appear to be highly probable, and they would be informative when the spent fuel of HTGRs is taken into account. The tritium inventory in the primary coolant is also taken into account without a helium purification system. This article can lay a foundation for future work on analyses of source terms as a platform for safety assessment in HTGRs.
