A Secure and Efficient Message Authentication Scheme for Vehicular Networks based on LTE-V

  • Vehicular networks play an important role in current intelligent transportation networks and have gained much attention from academia and industry. Vehicular networks can be enhanced by Long Term Evolution-Vehicle (LTE-V) technology, which has been defined in a series of standards by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). LTE-V technology is a systematic and integrated V2X solution. To guarantee secure LTE-V communication, security and privacy issues must be addressed before the network is deployed. The present study aims to improve the security functionality of vehicular LTE networks by proposing an efficient and secure ID-based message authentication scheme for vehicular networks, named the ESMAV. We demonstrate its ability to simultaneously support both mutual authentication and privacy protection. In addition, the ESMAV exhibit better performance in terms of overhead computation, communication cost, and security functions, which includes privacy preservation and non-frameability.

  • In this paper, we design on nonliner 3 user Dirty Paper Precoding for MIMO adjacant interference signal cancellation based on 3 GPP LTE Release 10. In this paper, in order to reduce the inter-channel interference at the transmitted side, we propose the Dirty Paper Precoding scheme for 3-user MIMO wireless systems using LQ decomposition and Gram-Schmidt algorithm based in its orthonormal basis.

  • A core technological base to provide enhanced data rates required by 5G mobile wireless communications is the improved bandwidth efficiency using massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission. MIMO transmission requires the channel estimation using the channel state information reference signaling (CSI-RS) and appropriate beamforming, thus the design of the codebook defining proper beamforming vectors is an important issue. In this paper, we propose a multi-rank codebook based on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix, by utilizing statistical properties of the channel generated by the spatial channel model (SCM). The proposed method includes a structural change of the precoding matrix indicator (PMI) by considering the phase difference distributions between adjacent antenna elements, as well as the selected codevector characteristics of each transmission layer. Performance gain of the proposed method is evaluated and verified by making the performance comparison to the 3GPP standard codebooks adopted by Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems.

  • Since OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology is applied into LTE(Long Term Evolution)/LTE-Advanced system, it is important to estimate the spectrum sharing and to analyze interference in LTE system based on the characteristics of frequency assignment. Therefore, in this paper, a study on the adjacent channel interference between two operators/systems to provide LTE services. For co-existence of LTE systems, the relative capacity loss and the relative throughput loss in uplink and downlink have been simulated to evaluated ACIR(Adjacent Channel Interference Ratio) values with 5% loss rate. Some parameters such as the location of user, aggressor bandwidth, and the separation offset affect the required ACIR value for spectrum sharing, and these results and interference analysis schemes in this article can provide reliable reference for LTE RF standardization and efficient frequency utilization in future.

  • An advanced receiver which can manage inter-cell interference is required to cope with the explosively increasing mobile data traffic. 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has discussed network assisted interference cancellation and suppression (NAICS) to improve signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio (SINR) and receiver performance by suppression or cancellation of interference signal from inter-cells. In this paper, we propose the advanced receiver based on soft decision to reduce the interference from neighbor cell in LTE-Advanced downlink system. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by calculating the unbiased estimation value of interference signal using minimum mean square error (MMSE) or interference rejection combing (IRC) receiver. The interference signal is updated using soft information expressed by log-likelihood ratio (LLR). We perform the system level simulation based on 20MHz bandwidth of 3GPP LTE-Advanced downlink system. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver can improve SINR, throughput, and spectral efficiency of conventional system.

  • 평균 셀 스펙트럼 효율 및 최대 데이터 전송 속도를 극대화 하는 방향으로 진화하던 3GPP LTE 표준 기술이 셀 가장자리에 있는 단말들까지 골고루 높은 데이터 전송 속도를 지원하는 기술로 진화하면서 전송 지점 간의 간섭 제어가 표준의 새로운 중요 사안으로 대두되고 있다. 이로 인해 전송지점 간의 간섭을 제어하기 위한 주요 기술인 협력 통신(coordinated multi-point transmission; CoMP) 이 LTEA-dvanced Release 11의 study item으로 합의되었고 표준화를 통한 CoMP 기술의 지원이 현실화되고 있는 상황이다. 특히 기지국의 안테나들이 셀 전 영역에 분산 배치되어 통신 서비스를 지원하는 분산 안테나 시스템 (distributed antenna system; DAS)을 heterogeneous 네트워크를 고려한 CoMP 기술중의 하나로 분류하고 DAS의 표준지원에 대한 가능성이 논의되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 LTE-Advanced Release 11에서 논의되고 있는 CoMP기술들의 표준화 진행 상황을 살펴보고 협력 통신 방법의 특성 및 시스템 설험을 통한 성능을 분석한다.

  • Discontinuous Reception 메커니즘은 LTE 시스템에서 고속 트래픽 성취에 뒤따른 이동 단말의 배터리 효율성의 중요도 상승에 따라 3GPP 표준으로 채택된 이용 단말의 비 연결적인 컨트롤 채널수신 확인 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 채널 상황 및 트래픽 특성에 효율적인 DRX 파라미터 설정의 중요성에 대해 확인하기 위해 Ns-3 시뮬레이터를 통해 DRX 활성/비활성 파라미터에 따른 성능을 확인하였으며 실험 결과에 통해 DRX 활성/비활성 파라미터의 비율에 따른 성능 변화를 확인하였다.

  • Vehicle communication can facilitate efficient coordination among vehicles on the road and enable future vehicular applications such as vehicle safety enhancement, infotainment, or even autonomous driving. In the $3^{rd}$ Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), many studies focus on long term evolution (LTE)-based vehicle communication. Because vehicle speed is high enough to cause severe channel distortion in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) environments. We can utilize channel estimation methods to approach a reliable vehicle communication systems. Conventional channel estimation schemes can be categorized as least-squares (LS), decision-directed channel estimation (DDCE), spectral temporal averaging (STA), and smoothing methods. In this study, we propose a smart channel estimation scheme in LTE-based V2V environments. The channel estimation scheme, based on an LTE uplink system, uses a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) as the pilot symbol. Unlike conventional channel estimation schemes, we propose an adaptive smoothing channel estimation scheme (ASCE) using quadratic smoothing (QS) of the pilot symbols, which estimates a channel with greater accuracy and adaptively estimates channels in data symbols. In simulation results, the proposed ASCE scheme shows improved overall performance in terms of the normalized mean square error (NMSE) and bit error rate (BER) relative to conventional schemes.

  • In this paper, we analyse HARQ scheme that utilizes symbol mapping diversity (SMD) techniques such as MDSM and CORE. The exploitation feasibility of MDSM and CORE is evaluated in the perspective of system complexity and storage capacity as we consider a BICM system based on 3GPP LTE standards and multipath fading channels. Also, a simple method which obtains SMD effects by circularly shifting bit-block in a codeword is proposed. The experimental results performed in BICM-OFDM systems with single antenna as well as multiple antennas show that frame error rate of the proposed method is close to that of CORE while having lower complexity.

  • In this paper, we propose a reliable $8{\times}8$ up-down switching polar relay code based on 3GPP LTE standard, motivated by 3GPP LTE down link, which is 30 bps/Hz for $8{\times}8$ MIMO antennas, and by Arikan's channel polarization for the frequency selective fading (FSF) channels with the generator matrix $Q_8$. In this scheme, a polar encoder and OFDM modulator are implemented sequentially at both the source node and relay nodes, the time reversion and complex conjugation operations are separately implemented at each relay node, and the successive interference cancellation (SIC) decoder, together with the cyclic prefix (CP) removal, is performed at the destination node. Use of the scheme shows that decoding at the relay without any delay is not required, which results in a lower complexity. The numerical result shows that the system coded by polar codes has better performance than currently used designs.
