This paper presents process of the UE obtains the cell system information in order to achieve communication with the LTE network on the LTE. This paper deals with the process of extracting MIB(Master Information Block) cell system information in LTE. To study the 3GPP LTE standard spec series 36.200 and 36.300, the simulation is implemented to extract the MIB in MATLAB program. The simulation process is divided into three parts. It consisted of a part that extracts the PSS, SSS and MIB. Called a cell search process for detecting the PSS and SSS, the process is to be done in order to extract only the cell system information. The simulation program is verified based on the signal captured from the real Air.
The specification of the Home Evolved NodeB (Home-eNB), which is a small base station designed for use in residential or small business environment, is currently ongoing in 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution) systems. One of the key requirements for its feasibility in the LTE system is the mobility management in the deployment of the numerous Home-eNBs and other 3GPP network. In this paper, we overview the characteristic of Home-eNB and also describe the mobility management issues and the related approaches in 3GPP LTE based Home-eNB systems.

Heterogeneous Network and CSG cell are hot issues in the 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced system. In this paper, we analyze the system information measurement methods which are essential for handover to CSG cell. Since there have been no sufficient discussion about this problem, we present and analyze five possible solutions. Moreover, we propose a novel solution to reduce system information measurement delay. In the proposed Autonomous Measurement with Parallel Small Gap(AMPSG) method, the UE measures system information of neighbor cells in a parallel manner. As a result, the proposed method shows better delay performance. Therefore, the proposed AMPSG method can reduce handover delay since the UE have to measure the system information of neighbor cells before CSG handover decision.

In 3GPP LTE system downlink, PSS (primary synchronization signal) and SSS (secondary synchronization signal) sequences are used for initial cell search and synchronization. UE (user equipment) detects slot timing, frequency offset, and cell ID by using PSS. After that it should detect frame timing, cell group ID, and CP length by using SSS. But in 3GPP LTE, there are two kinds of CP length, so we should operate FFT twice. In this paper, to minimize SSS detection complexity in cell searcher, we propose a CP length pre-decision algorithm that reduces the arithmetical complexity by half at most, with negligible performance degradation.

In this paper, we propose a coarse and fine frequency synchronization method which is suitable for the 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE(Long Term Evolution) FDD(Frequency Division Duplexing) / TDD(Time Division Duplexing) dual mode system. In general, PSS(Primary Synchronization Signal) correlation based estimation method and CP(Cyclic Prefix) correlation based tracking loop are applied for coarse and fine frequency synchronization in 3GPP LTE OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system, respectively. However, the conventional coarse frequency synchronization method has performance degradation caused by fading channel and squaring loss. Also, the conventional fine frequency synchronization method cannot guarantee stable operation in TDD mode because of signal power difference between uplink and downlink subframe. Therefore, in this paper, we propose enhanced coarse and fine frequency synchronization methods which can estimate more accurately in multi-path fading channel and high speed channel environments and has stable operation for TDD frame structure, respectively. By computer simulation, we show that the proposed methods outperform the conventional methods, and verify that the proposed frequency synchronization method can guarantee stable operation in 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD dual mode downlink receiver.

Due to the increasing demand of network convergence, in future, hybrid/integrated satellite and terrestrial systems will play an important role. In that case, compatibilities between the satellite and terrestrial systems are very important for efficiency of the systems. 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) is one of the 4G system. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce the design of interleaver for mobile satellite system based 3GPP LTE specification. The 4G system including the LTE specification adopted adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) schemes for efficient usage of resources, and the updating interval of resource allocation is an order of msec. However, because of the long round trip delay of satellite systems, we cannot employ the same AMC scheme specified for the terrestrial system, and thus it cannot effectively counteract to short term fadings. Therefore, in order to overcome these problems, we propose an interleaver scheme combined with AMC. We present the interleaver design results considering mobile satellite system based on the LTE and analyze the simulation results.
Despite the exponential throughput improvement in mobile communications systems, their ability to satisfy requirements of state-of-the-art and future applications of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is still under investigation. Challenges are mainly due to the inadequacy of third generation partnership project (3GPP) networks to support large amounts of devices simultaneously, while the number of AMI end-devices and the frequency of their data transmission increase with new AMI-based applications. In this introductory survey, innovative and future AMI applications and their communication requirements are first reviewed. Then, we identify challenges of 3GPP long term evolution (LTE) in enabling future AMI applications. More importantly, the latest improvements to LTE-A standard release 12 and 13 are reviewed and analyzed with regards to their potential to improve the quality of LTE-enabled AMI. It is found that 3GPP enhancements on machine type communications (MTC) standards will significantly enhance AMI communications. Beyond MTC specifications, non-MTC-specific enhancements such as carrier aggregation and multi-connectivity for user equipment will also contribute greatly to improving reliability and availability of AMI devices. The paper's focus is towards improved backhaul support for innovative and future AMI applications, beyond traditional automatic meter reading.

3GPP evolved packet system (EPS) is an all-IP based system that supports various access networks such LTE, HSPA/HSPA+, and non-3GPP networks. Recently, the support of IP flows with packet level QoS profiles was added to the requirements of the EPS. This paper proposes an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme that supports the QoS of such IP flows in the 3G LTE access network of the EPS. Defining the retransmission as a critical factor for QoS, the proposed scheme applies different maximum packet error probability $P_{max}$ to each packet when selecting the AMC transmission mode. In determining $P_{max}$, the QoS constraints and NACK-to-ACK error as well as channel condition are considered, balancing two objectives: the satisfaction of the QoS and the maximization of spectral efficiency. The simulation results show that it is able to reduce both delay violation and status report by 10%, while improving the throughput 10% in comparison with an existing scheme.
3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project)는 3세대 이동통신인 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)의 초기 표준화 이후 HSPA(High Speed Packet Access), MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service) 등의 기술 개발로 UMTS 시스템을 지속적으로 발전시켜 왔다.

이 중에서 2G의 GSM과 3G의 비동기식 기술 WCDMA의 진화 기술인 3GPP LTE(Long Term Evolution) 및 SAE(System Architecture Evolution)가 유력한 4G 이동 통신 기술 후보로 평가 받고 있다.
