Shape optimization of an upper plenum of PBMR type gas cooled nuclear reactor has been performed by using three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) analysis and surrogate modeling technique. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of uniformity of flow distribution in the core and pressure drop in the upper plenum and the core. The ratio of thickness of slot to diameter of rising channels, ratio of height of upper plenum to diameter of rising channels, and ratio of eight of the slot at inlet to outlet, are used as design variables for optimization. Design points are selected through Latin-hypercube sampling. The optimal point is determined through surrogate-based optimization method which uses 3-D RANS analyses at design points. The results show that the optimum shape represent remarkably improved performance in flow uniformity and friction loss than the reference shape.
Our objective is to model static multi-cracking processes in concrete. The explicit dynamic relaxation (DR) method, which gives the solutions of non-linear static problems on the basis of the steady-state conditions of a critically damped explicit transient solution, is chosen to deal with the high geometric and material non-linearities stemming from such a complex fracture problem. One of the common difficulties of the DR method is its slow convergence rate when non-monotonic spectral response is involved. A modified concept that is distinct from the standard DR method is introduced to tackle this problem. The methodology is validated against the stable three point bending test on notched concrete beams of different sizes. The simulations accurately predict the experimental load-displacement curves. The size effect is caught naturally as a result of the calculation. Micro-cracking and non-uniform crack propagation across the fracture surface also come out directly from the 3D simulations.
Geophysical survey for unconformity-type uranium deposit applied to this study area in Athabaska Basin, Canada were carried out airborne TEM and magnetic, resistivity-induced polarization (DC-IP), puser seismic reflection and well-logging method. The results of airborne survey interpreted the lithological boundary, geological structures, and conductors. Also, these results decided to main targets for ground DC-IP survey. The Low resistivity and the high chargeability slices of 3D modeling interpreted from DC-IP survey response for conductors related to hydrothermal alteration zones and fault-controlled graphitic zones occurring at the unconformity-type uranium deposit, and they confirmed by diamond drilling. Seismic results interpreted to lake bottom surface, alluvium layer and intra-sandstone faults. We suggest the resonable field data acquisition of DC-IP method on the land or the lake in Athabaska Basin.

To find the optimum extraction condition of dried omija, central composite experimental design having three independent variable (extraction temperature, extraction time and water ratio) with five levels was conducted for response surface analysis. The maximum of soluble solid was predicted to the extraction conditions of over 25 fold water ratio, $7{\sim}8hr$ and $75^{\circ}C$. Total acid, total phenol, reducing sugar and vitamin C were predicted to respectively 30 fold water ratio, 6 hr, $70^{\circ}C$, 30 fold water ratio, $6{\sim}7\;hrs,\;80^{\circ}C$ and 30 fold water ratio, $6{\sim}8\;hr,\;80^{\circ}C$, 25 fold water ratio, $5{\sim}6hr,\;80^{\circ}C$ extraction condition. Turbidity of extraction condition. Turbidity of extraction condition was 7 over 25 ford water ratio and over $60^{\circ}C$. From the superimposing results of response variables, the optimum extraction condition was predicted 25 folds water ratio, 6 hr and $65{\sim}70^{\circ}C$.
This study was conducted to develop a functional cookie with the addition of a sweet pumpkin powder on a cookie shape, that showed high preference level to all age group and that was very easily to store because of low moisture content, by substituting partially a sweet pumpkin powder for reducing content of wheat flour. This study has produced the sensory optimal composite recipe by making iced cookies, respectively, with each 5 level of Sweet pumpkin powder($X_{1}$), sugar($X_{2}$), butter($X_{3}$), by C.C.D(Central Composite Design) and conducting sensory evaluation and instrumental analysis by means of RSM(Response Surface Methodology). Sensory items showed very significant values in color, appearance, flavor, overall quality(p<0.05), texture(p<0.01), and instrumental analysis showed significant values in lightness, redness(p<0.01), yellowness, spread ratio, hardness(p<0.05). Also sensory optimal ratio of Sweet pumpkin cookie was calculated as sweet pumpkin powder 81.8g, sugar 116.6g, butter 210.7g, and it was revealed that the factors of influencing cookie aptitude were in order of Sweet pumpkin powder, butter, sugar.
In the present work, Arthrobacter sp. 25, a lead-tolerant bacterium, was assayed to remove lead(II) from aqueous solution. The biosorption process was optimized by response surface methodology (RSM) based on the Box-Behnken design. The relationships between dependent and independent variables were quantitatively determined by second-order polynomial equation and 3D response surface plots. The biosorption mechanism was explored by characterization of the biosorbent before and after biosorption using atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of 9.6 mg/g was obtained at the initial lead ion concentration of 108.79 mg/l, pH value of 5.75, and biosorbent dosage of 9.9 g/l (fresh weight), which was close to the theoretically expected value of 9.88 mg/g. Arthrobacter sp. 25 is an ellipsoidal-shaped bacterium covered with extracellular polymeric substances. The biosorption mechanism involved physical adsorption and microprecipitation as well as ion exchange, and functional groups such as phosphoryl, hydroxyl, amino, amide, carbonyl, and phosphate groups played vital roles in adsorption. The results indicate that Arthrobacter sp. 25 may be potentially used as a biosorbent for low-concentration lead(II) removal from wastewater.

We have studied a method to fabricated a Surface Acoustic Waves (SAW) filter for Wide band Codeless Division Multiple Access(WCDMA) was formed on the Langasite substrate and was evaporated by Aluminum-Copper alloy and then we developed a simulator using the mathematica package. And, we can design and fabricate the Slanted finger Inter-digital Transducer (SFIT) for the purpose to decreased the ultimate rejections on side of the electrodes, and performed computer-simulation by simulator. Also, we have employed that the block weighted type Inter-digital Transduce(IDT) as input transduce of the filter and the withdrawal weighted type IDT as an output transducer of the filter in order to minimize effect of diffractions. We have employed that the number of pairs of the input and output IDT are 50 pairs and the thickness and the width of reflector are $5000\AA$, and $1\lambda/4(\cong3.6{\mu}m)$, respectively. Also the width of IDT' finger and the space between IDT' finger and reflector are $1\lambda$/16 and 1\lambda$/8, respectively. Frequency response of the fabricated SAW bandpass filter has the property that center frequency is about 190MHz, bandwidth at the 3dB is probably 4MHz and out-band attenuation is -60dB approximately.

Volcanic ash components of Mt. Baekdu were estimated to response the change of water quality environment affected by Mt. Baekdu volcanic ash ejected during eruption. Then the change of water concentrations according to the sedimentation of volcanic ash components were analysed. To estimate volcanic ash components of Mt. Baekdu, similar volcanos were selected through the comparison of main foreign volcano's magma type and the selected volcanic ash components supposed as Baekdu Mountain's. To analyse the change of water concentrations, the change of harmful components affected by volcanic ash sedimentation were analysed and the results were compared with domestic drinking water quality standard. As the result, Al, Cd, F, Fe, Pb, Mg, Cl and Sr could affect to water quality. Among those components, concentrations of Cd, F, Fe, Pb and Mg were estimated to exceed the drinking water quality standard.
The efforts were made to optimite ethanol extraction from persimmon leaf with the time of extraction$(1.5{\sim}2.5\;hrs)$, the temperature of extraction$(70{\sim}90^{\circ}C)$, and the concentration of ethanol$(0{\sim}40%)$ as three primary variables together with several functional characteristics of persimmon leaf as reaction variables. The conditions of extraction was best fitted by using response surface methodology through the center synthesis plan, and the optimal conditions of extraction were established. The contents of soluble solid and soluble tannin went up as the concentration of ethanol went up and the temperature of extraction went down, and the turbidity went down as the concentration of ethanol went down. Electron donation ability was hardly affected by the extraction temperature and had the tendency to go up as the concentration of ethanol went up. The inhibitory activity of xanthine oxidase(XOase) had the tendency to go up as both the concentration of ethanol and the temperature of extraction went up. The inhibitory activity of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE), the significance of which still was not recognized, showed the maximum when the concentration of ethanol was 27%. In result, the optimal conditions of extraction was the extraction time of two hours, the extraction temperature of $75{\sim}81^{\circ}C$, and the ethanol concentration of $33{\sim}35%$.

This paper presents the active control of a flexible cantilever beam vibration. The cantilever beam was excitied by a steady-state harmonic and white noise point force and the control was performed by one piezo ceramic actuator bonded to the surface of the beam. An adaptive controller based on filtered-x LMS algorithm was used and the controller was defined by minimizing the square of the response of error sensor. In the experiment, gap sensor was used as an error sensor while the sinusoidal or white noise was applied as a disturbance. In the case of sinusoidal input, more than 20 dB of vibration reduction was achieved over all range of the natural frequencies and it takes 5 seconds to control the vibration at first natural frequency and 1 second at other natural frequencies. In the case of white noise input, 7 dB of vibration reduction was achieved at the first natural frequency and good control performance was achieved in the considered whole frequency range. Results indicate that the vibration of a flexible cantilever beam could be controlled effectively when the piezo ceramic actuator was used with filtered-x LMS algorithm.
