Lots of 2D vision algorithms have been applied for inspection. However, these 2D vision algorithms have limitation in inspection applications which require 3D information data such as the height of semiconductor chips. Stereo vision is a well known method to measure the distance from the camera to the object to be measured. But it is difficult to apply for inspection directly because of its measurement error. In this paper, we propose two adjustment methods to reduce the error of the measured height data for stereo vision. The weight value based model is used to minimize the mean squared error. The average value based model is used with simple concept to reduce the measured error. The effect of these algorithms has been proved through the experiments which measure the height of semiconductor chips.

3D stereoscopic viewing of large scale imagery, such as aerial photography and satellite images, needs different parallaxes relative to the display scale. For example, when a viewer sees a stereoscopic image of aerial photography, the optimal parallax of its zoom-in image should be smaller than that of its zoom-out. Therefore, relative parallax adjustment according to the display scale is required. Merely adjusting the spacing between stereo images is not appropriate because the depths of the whole image are either exaggerated or reduced entirely. This paper focuses on the improving stereoscopic viewing with a single remote sensing image and a digital surface model (DSM). We present the parallax adjustment technique to maximize the 3D realistic effect and the visual comfort. For remote sensing data, DSM height value can be regarded as disparity. There are two possible kinds of methods to adjust the relative parallax with a single image performance. One is the DSM compression technique: the other is an adjustment of the distance between the original image and its stereo-mate. In our approach, we carried out a test to evaluate the optimal distance between a single remote sensing image and its stereo-mate, relative to the viewing scale. Several synthetic stereo-mates according to certain viewing scale were created using a parallel projection model and their anaglyphs were estimated visually. The occlusion of the synthetic stereo-mate was restored by the inpainting method using the fields of experts (FoE) model. With the experiments using QuickBird imagery, we could obtain stereoscopic images with optimized parallax at varied display scales.
This paper represents the design of 3D endoscopic image processing system in order to Improve visualization and enhance the ability of the surgeon to perform delicate endoscopic surgery. The proposed 3D systems have four features of stereo endoscopic image processing The multiplexer give field seauential stereo for recording and for aligning cameras and viewing stereo with 3D monitor. Demultiplexing of the field sequential image which separates out the R and L images for dual TFT-LCD 3D monitor viewed with passive polarized glasses. separable processing of the left and right eye images, and design of TFT-LCD 3D monitor. The viewing angle, zone, and image quality of the Polarization-type Stereoscopic Display (SM500TFT-3D) system which we have developed using 15 Samsung TFT-1.CD with a screen resolution of 1024×768 pixels were measured and compared with those of Electric Shutter-type Stereoscopic Display system. The result of experiments shows that the Polarization-type Stereoscopic Display System using TFT-LCD has a wade viewing angle and zone which Is necessary fort multi-view and it has better image quality and stability of the optical performances than the Electric Shutter-type does.

Visualization requires for effective analysis of the spatial data collected by various sensors. The best way to convey 3D digital spatial information which is modeling of the real world to the users, realistic 3D visualization and display technology. Since most of the display is based on 2D or 2.5D projection to the plane, there is limitation in representing real world in 3D space. In this paper, data from airborne LiDAR for topographic mapping, Flashi-LiDAR as emerging sensor with great potential to 3D data acquisition, and multibeam echo-sounder for underwater measurement, were stereoscopically visualized. 3D monitors are getting popular and could be information media and platform in geoinformatics. Therefore, study on creating 3D stereoscopic contents of spatial information is essential for new technology of stereo viewing systems.
In this paper, a new rectification scheme to transform the uncalibrated stereo image pair into the calibrated one is suggested and its performance is analyzed by applying this scheme to the reconstruction of the intermediate views for multi-view stereoscopic display. In the proposed method, feature points are extracted from the stereo image pair by detecting the comers and similarities between each pixel of the stereo image pair. These detected feature points, are then used to extract moving vectors between the stereo image pair and the epipolar line. Finally, the input stereo image pair is rectified by matching the extracted epipolar line between the stereo image pair in the horizontal direction. Based on some experiments done on the synthesis of the intermediate views by using the calibrated stereo image pairs through the proposed rectification algorithm and the uncalibrated ones for three kinds of stereo image pairs; 'Man', 'Face' and 'Car', it is found that PSNRs of the intermediate views reconstructed from the calibrated images improved by about 2.5${\sim}$3.26 dB than those of the uncalibrated ones.
In this paper, a new 3D object tracking system using the disparity motion vector (DMV) is presented. In the proposed method, the time-sequential disparity maps are extracted from the sequence of the stereo input image pairs and these disparity maps are used to sequentially estimate the DMV defined as a disparity difference between two consecutive disparity maps Similarly to motion vectors in the conventional video signals, the DMV provides us with motion information of a moving target by showing a relatively large change in the disparity values in the target areas. Accordingly, this DMV helps detect the target area and its location coordinates. Based on these location data of a moving target, the pan/tilt embedded in the stereo camera system can be controlled and consequently achieve real-time stereo tracking of a moving target. From the results of experiments with 9 frames of the stereo image pairs having 256x256 pixels, it is shown that the proposed DMV-based stereo object tracking system can track the moving target with a relatively low error ratio of about 3.05 % on average.
We developed a glasses-free 3D stereoscopic display using an LCD display panel, a view control film and a grating film for stereoscopic viewing. The observer can watch overlapped stereoscopic images for left and right eyes without special glasses such as polarized glasses.
In this paper, a new 3D robot vision system using the hierarchical opto-digital algorithm is proposed and implemented. From some experimental results with the 20 frames of the stereo input image pairs, the proposed system is found to be able to effectively extract the area where the target object is located from the stereo input image regardless of the background noises.
Human visual system infers 3D vision through stereo disparity in the stereoscopic images, and stereo visioning are recently being used in consumer electronics which has resulted in much research in the application field. Basically, stereo vision system consists of four processes, which are cost computation, cost aggregation, disparity calculation, and disparity refinement. In this paper, we present and evaluate the existing various methods, focusing on cost aggregation for stereo vision system to comparatively analyze the performance of their algorithms for a given set of resources. Experiments show that Normalized Cross Correlation and Zero-Mean Normalized Cross Correlation provide higher accuracy, however they are computationally heavy for embedded system in the real time systems. Sum of Absolute Difference and Sum of Squared Difference are more suitable selection for embedded system, but they should be required on improvement to apply to the real world system.

This paper investigates the robustness of watermarking techniques for stereo or multi-view images generated from texture and depth images. A three-dimensional (3D) warping technique is applied to texture and depth images to generate stereo or multi-view images for a 3D display. By using the 3D warping technique, in this paper, we developed watermarking techniques and evaluated the robustness of these techniques that can extract watermarks from texture images even when the viewpoints are moved. A depth image is used to generate a stereo image with the largest viewpoint difference to the left and right. The overlapping region in the stereo image that does not disappear after warping is then obtained, and DWT is applied to this region to embed a watermark in the LL sub-band. The proposed watermarking techniques were found to yield bit error rates of about 3%-16% when they were applied to stereo images generated from texture and depth images. Furthermore, the results showed that the copyright could be seen when the extracted watermark was visually confirmed.
