The appearances and geometry structures of knitted fabrics have important effects on their functions as textile fabrics. Structural design of the woven fabric, prior to the manufacturing processes in the weaving mill, often leads to a similar predictable appearance in the final outcome with the corresponding weave design. The increase of the employment of elastic textile yarns in knitting fabrics for comfort stretch or outdoor sports wear knit products has, however, resulted in difficulties in predicting the final appearance of the knit structure design. Due to the stretchability and exceptional recovery behavior of the elastic yarns such as polyurethane elastomeric yarns, the appearance of the final product often differs from the initial knit design. At textile CAD program for preparing tricot knit designs has been employed in this study to predict the two dimensional appearance of the design. The similarities between the designs and corresponding knit products seem to be acceptable for the two-dimensional textile CAD program in this study. However, when elastomeric yarns are partially employed in the polyester filament tricot product, a considerable amount of departure from the design is apparent due to the constriction and/or deformation of property differences in the elastomeric yarns and polyester filament yarns. Therefore, another purpose of this study is to measure the departure of the final tricot product from the initial tricot design, especially in the case employing elastomeric yarns in the knit structure together with regular polyester filament yarns. For measuring the three-dimensional departure, a 3D scanning system has been used for the mesh reconstruction of the fabric specimen. Hopefully, the result from this study will be used as a guide to modify and improve the current textile CAD program proposed for the two-dimensional simulation of the tricot.

Automated design system of injection mold was developed in this study. Shapes of mold parts and mold base were defined according to standards of mold components and database modules of mold components were built. And then an automation program of mold design was developed by the user definition features, family table and Pro/Program of Pro/Engineer. The automatic production divided into mold base and standard parts was manipulated to manufacture parts meeting the design requirements and the selected parts were changed in size and shape to meet the design goals. The mold design was also carried out to have organic relations and be easy in case of a change to the mold part or mold base. As a result, it is possible to design the mold efficiently and conveniently modify the designed mold parts and base by using the developed automated design system in this study.
We designed and implemented electronic catalog system for 3D CAD using XML. The XML(extensible Markup Language) is a Markup Language to describe data structure. XML was originally designed to meet the challenges of large-scale electronic publishing. XML Is also playing an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data on the Web and elsewhere. This XML catalog helps you easily create and edit the construction materials data. If you want to obtain informations from the construction materials data which is used by object-oriented 3-D CAD program then this system helps you.

Korean shipbuilders are starting to use three dimensional solid CAD systems to enhance their competitiveness in design and production. Despite many merits, three dimensional CAD systems reveal some problems in pipe-line modeling. Pipe-line modeling is heavily dependent on point data in routing. However, since the models built by sweeping or skinning operations do not have data about points and lines on the surfaces, the point data for routing are currently manually calculated by considering the diameters of the pipes and alignment conditions with other pipes. This process is inefficient and prone to errors. In order to enhance the pipe modeling, this paper presents an Offset Routing Program for a three dimensional CAD system, which aids designers to easily define the start points and to generate the pipe routings using reference objects.

In order to reduce the time needed for design, enterprises recently need the customizing technology that can modify the functions of existing CAD systems according to the their purposes. So most of the companies developing commercial CAD system are providing API to make possible the preparation of macro or external programs, which allow automatic performance of a series of repeated tasks. The objective of the present paper is to achieve more convenient carrying out of a particular modeling, by developing 3D CAD template of the standardized engineering rule of the particular model in order to establish a knowledge-based product development system. The formula, data and design knowledge which are required for the designing of the components of refrigerator were made into a program by means of Unigraphics' UG/Open API. And examples of such a development were presented. By using them in connection with commercial CAD system, design verification and modification were efficiently applied to the product design business.
These days, it is not easy to construct the transmission line because of the environmental association activity, a civil appeal, etc. To solve these kinds of difficulties, the program with leading-edge IT technology, such as GIS, 3 dimensions CAD, computer graphic, etc., is developed to be more transparent and objective in the design stage of the transmission line and the selection stage of the transmission line route. Comparing this program with previous methods, this program is composed of the environmental evaluation program, data producing program for analysis and selecting line route program because it is not possible to conduct those kinds of work without any help from the computer and well-developed program. To confirm the performance of the program, the result from the program and the human were compared. Therefore, the result from the program was same as the result conducted by human. In addition, the program makes the selection of the transmission line route easier by checking the mountainside, lumbering, the estimated cost of the tower construction, etc. in real-time.

This paper is to model a 3D-shape product applying mathematically the data acquired from a 3D scanner and using an Automatic Design Program. The research studied in the reverse engineering up to now has been developed continuously and surprisingly. However, forming 3D-shape solid models in CAE and CAM, based on the research, the study leaves much to be desired. Especially, analyses and studies reverse-designing automatically using measured data after manufacturing. Consequently, we are going to acquire geometric data using an 3D scanner in this study with which we will open a new field of reverse engineering by a program whic hcan design a 3D-shape solid model in a CAD-based program automatically.
There still is a limitation in the usage of 3D clothes model in the production line due to the lack of compatibility between 3D modeling software, and its accurate 2D pattern making software, especially for free formed dress with tight fitted zone and draped part. In this study, obstacles in the 3D direct dress design process was overcome by solving the compatibility among each step of 3D virtual design process as well as adopting 3D-2D direct pattern development program called 2C-AN. Efficacy of making 2D pattern from 3D dress design using 2C-AN program developed by the authors was examined during the course of actual dress making process. Accurate ease over the fitted dress part was examined by 3D scanning technology, and the actual appearance of the draped part was compared with the simulation image of dress model. It was confirmed that the entire 3D design process and direct 2D pattern development proposed in this study was accurate enough to use in the 3D design process.

This paper describes the forming of fine gear housing using RP system. In order to apply 3D model formed through CAD software to RP system, it is necessary of transforming 3D model into STL file format. Besides, when the same shape is formed repetitively, we must solve the program that the shape accuracy of prototype is irregular. Therefore, we will make an experiment on influence of 3D model, file transformation and prototype on facetres, AutoCAD system value. On the basis of experimental result, we will develop an automatic file transformation program for RP. In the final process, we will manufacture on a better prototype according to the experiment result of fine gear housing.

For the reuse of the existing 3D block model of a ship, we analyze the hull modeling process using AVEVA Marine which is a representative CAD (Computer-Aided Design) system for the shipbuilding. In the AVEVA Marine environment where the design engineer makes 3D model on the 2D view that is so-called 2.5D, it cannot be possible to copy to reuse the block model just simply copying the 3D feature model itself like in the general mechanical CAD system or Smart Marine 3D which are on the basis of the 3D model representation. In this paper, we analyze the scheme file where the 3D model is defined in AVEVA Marine so that we develop the program for the block copy and the translation using this scheme file. It is significant that this program can be immediately available as a real-world application on the AVEVA Marine environment.
