  • The main objective of this research work is to present analytical solutions for the thermoelastic bending analysis of sandwich plates made of functionally graded materials with an arbitrary gradient. The governing equations of equilibrium are solved for a functionally graded sandwich plates under the effect of thermal loads. The transverse shear and normal strain and stress effects on thermoelastic bending of such sandwich plates are considered. Field equations for functionally graded sandwich plates whose deformations are governed by either the shear deformation theories or the classical theory are derived. Displacement functions that identically satisfy boundary conditions are used to reduce the governing equations to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients. The results of the shear deformation theories are compared together. Numerical results for deflections and stresses of functionally graded metal-ceramic plates are investigated.

  • The use of physics based deformation methods is continuously increasing in computer graphics area such as game and simulation. Many researchers have worked on this method. However, relatively few researchers have considered the development of the user interaction to the 3D objects. This research proposes a physics-based deformation technique using AR (Augmented Reality) environments to enhance user immersion and the effectiveness of the deformation. In the AR circumstances, the physics based deformation should be accomplished in realtime. In the proposed method, we combine RBF (Radial Basis Function) [1] and LSM (Lattice Shape Matching) [2, 3] and apply it to polygonal models for real-time user interaction. The dynamics of the LSM is also calculated to trace the movement of each lattice. Finally these algorithms are implemented in AR environments.

  • Fundamental deformation mechanism and plastic behavior of AISI304 austenitic stainless steel were investigated to evaluate press formability. Local and uniform deformation capacity of AISI304 steel were compared to those of ferritic AISI430 steel and Al killed low carbon steel. Nine kinds of austenitic stainless steels having different austenite stabilities were made in laboratory scale to examine the transformation behavior in various deformation mode and variation of mechanical properties. Deformation path and strain distributions along edge corner of commercial sink die were illustrated and effect of austenite stability on press forming of sink die was clarified with experiments using square cup drawing tools.

  • Cold forging has several advantages as compared with conventional forming by cutting process. In this study, the elastic deformations of straight bevel gear and die induced by cold forging process are investigated to use 3D-Scanner. So we could estimate the total elastic deformation as comparing between forged bevel gears and die. And finite element analysis has been performed to predict the elastic deformation, each of cold forged bevel gear and die. The predicted values are compared with the experimental values and as a result they are well agreed with experimental data.

  • The dimensional accuracy of the cold forged products is strongly dependent on the elastic behavior of the die. The elastic deformation of the die is continuously changed during the process. Therefore, it is needed to measure the deformation of die. Strain gauges are used to measure the elastic strains in the die during cold backward extrusion process. The strain gauges are attached on the die surface and embedded at the interface between the die insert and the stress ring. In order to compare the results with the FE-analysis, the rigid-plastic FE-analysis of cold backward extrusion process using DEFORM-3D has been performed, and the analysis of elastic deformation of the die has been done by using ANSYS with non-linear contact.

  • Among the various parts of automobile, automotive seat is the most fundamental item that ride comfort can be evaluated as the direct contact part with human body. Automotive seat must have the sufficient rigidity and strength at the same time with ride comfort. In this study, cushion frame and back frame at car seat are modelled with 3D. There are structural simulation analyses about 3 kinds of tests on torsion strength, vertical load strength and back frame strength. In the analysis result, the initial total deformation and the permanent total deformation has the maximum values of 5.4821 mm and 0.02539mm respectively at the torsion strength test of cushion frame. Total deformations at front and rear end parts of cushion frame become the values of 2.1159mm and 0.0606mm respectively at the test of vertical load strength of cushion frame. In case of more than this load, the maximum value of total deformation also becomes 3.1739mm. The maximum value of total deformation becomes 0.18634mm at 3 kinds of the strength tests on back frame. By the study result of no excessive deformation and no fracture cushion frame and back frame at automotive seat, the sufficient rigidity and strength to guarantee the safety of passenger can be verified.

  • In this study, a macroscopic approach was carried out to gain insight into the bending mechanism of metallic sandwich plates. Shear force-punch stroke curves for various clearances were analytically derived for mild steel (CSP 1N) sandwich plates with the total thickness of 3 mm and 0.5 mm face sheets. As the clearance increases, shear force of the inner structures and sensitivity of punch stroke decrease. These data are useful to derive a criterion of judgment for core shear failure and de-bonding failure during U-bending.

  • The side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed using three dimensional car crash analysis. Medium size passenger car is modeled for finite element analysis. Total 24 side collision configurations, four different speed and six different angle, are set up for making side collision database. Deformation index and degree index are built up for each collision case. Deformation index is a kind of deformation estimate averaging displacement of side door of crashed car from finite element analysis result. Angle index is constructed measuring deformed angle of crashing car. There are two kinds of angle index, one is measured at driver's side and the other is measured at passenger's side. Also a collision analysis information in side of cars is used for giving a basis for scientific and practical reason in a reconstruction of the car accident. The analysis program, LS-DYNA3D is utilized for finite element analysis program for a collision analysis. Those database are used for side collision reconstruction. Side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed, and applied to find the collision conditions before the accident occurs. Three example collision cases are tried to check the effectiveness of the algorithm. Deformation index and angle index is extracted for the case from the analysis result. Deformation index is compared to the established database, and estimated collision speed and angle are introduced by interpolation function. Angle index is used to select a specific collision condition from the several available conditions. The collision condition found by reconstruction algorithm shows good match with original condition within 10% error for speed and angle. As a result, the calculation from the reconstruction of the situation is reproducing the situation well. The performance in this study can be used in many ways for practical field using deformation index and degree index. Other different collision situations may be set up for extending the scope of this study in the future.

  • This paper presents an experimental study of three two-dimensional (2D/planar) steel reinforced concrete (SRC) T-shaped column-RC beam hybrid joints and six 3D SRC T-shaped column-steel beam hybrid joints under low cyclic reversed loads. Considering different categories of steel configuration types in column cross section and horizontal loading angles for the specimens were selected, and a reliable structural testing system for the spatial loading was employed in the tests. The load-displacement curves, carrying capacity, energy dissipation capacity, ductility and deformation characteristics of the test subassemblies were analyzed. Especially, the seismic performance discrepancies between planar hybrid joints and 3D hybrid joints were intensively compared. The failure modes for planar loading and spatial loading observed in the tests showed that the shear-diagonal compressive failure was the dominating failure mode for all the specimens. In addition, the 3D hybrid joints illustrated plumper hysteretic loops for the columns configured with solid-web steel, but a little more pinched hysteretic loops for the columns configured with T-shaped steel or channel-shaped steel, better energy dissipation capacity & ductility, and larger interlayer deformation capacity than those of the planar hybrid joints. Furthermore, it was revealed that the hysteretic loops for the specimens under $45^{\circ}$ loading angle are generally plumper than those for the specimens under $30^{\circ}$ loading angle. Finally, the effects of steel configuration type and loading angle on the seismic damage for the specimens were analyzed by means of the Park-Ang model.

  • The blanking sequence of refrigerator and air-conditioner compressor-motor-core has been determined by trial and error. To improve such problem, 2d-analysis using ANSYS to verify the deformation state has been done firstly. And 3d-analysis following up the real process has been done. Additionally, verified the 3-d analysis result using S/W LS-DYNA.
