Pipe Atuo-Routing with Design Knowledge-base (선박용 배관의 Auto-Routing을 위한 설계 전문가 시스템)

  • Finding the optimum route of ship's pipes is complicated and time-consuming process. Experience of designers is the main tool in this process. To reduce design man-hours and human errors a design expert system shell and a geometric modeler is used to automate the design process. In this paper, a framework of the intelligent CAD system for pipe auto-routing is suggested, which consists of general-purpose expert system shell and a geometric modeler. The design expert system and the geometric modeling kernel have been integrated. The CADDS5 of Computervision is used as the overall CAD environment. The Nexpert Object of Neuron Data is used as the expert system shell. The CADDS5 ISSM is used as the interface that creates and modifies geometric models of pipes. Existing algorithms for the routing problem have been analyzed. Most of them are to solve the 2-D circuit routing problems. Ship piping system, specially within the engine room, is a complicated, large scale 3-D routing problem. Methods of expert system have been used to find the route of ship pipes on the main deck.

  • In this paper, the CNC cutting planning module for product with three dimensional solid shape is realized to develop a smart CAD/CAM system which performs systematically from the shape design of procuct by the B-Rep solid modeler to the CNC cutting of product by a machining center. The three dimensional solid shape of product can be easily designed and constructed by the Euler operators and Boolean operators of the solid modeler. And the various functions such as the automatic generation of tool path for the rough and finish cutting processes, the automatic elimination of overcut, the automatic generation of CNC code for the machining center and do on, are established. Especially, the overcut-free tool paths are obtained by splitting the CL solid which is composed of the offset surfaces of the solid shape of product.

  • This paper presents design automation system using API and parametric modeling of solid modeler, which is applied on axial fans for cooling towers. The design data including chord length and twist angle according to the fan length are given by design program, and API functions are applied to automate the modeling and assembly process of fan blade. The boss to connect fan and motor is designed with parametric design function provided by UG so as to be flexibly changed by the value of design parameters. The process of generating 2-D drafting for parts and an assembly is also automated. With developed system, the modeling time is reduced to 5 minutes even with unskilled operators.

  • This study attempts to develop a skeleton model to link construction schedule and 3D object for drawings in 4D system. Generally, the construction schedule and 3D object can be linked in 4D system by imported files which are made in specific S/Ws such as CAD S/W and scheduling S/W. Those methods have a difficulties for operating 4D data because extra work needs to link 4D data for each activity. This study develops a 4D model which the 4D data can be self-generated within the system. The suggested model can reduce the initial input data for new project by integrating schedule and 3D object in 4D system.

  • As computer system and information/communication technology develop rapidly, nowadays CSCW(Computer Supported Collaborative Work) system appears, through which it is available to work on virtual space without any restriction of time and place. Most of Un systems depend on a special network and groupware. The systems of graphics and CAD are not so many because they are characterized by Hardware and application software. In this paper, we propose a web-based collaborative CAD system which can be jointly worked on Internet WWW being independent from any platforms. It can generate and handle objects easily using lava 3D, and it can transmit, print, and store them. The interactive work for designing objects can be also carried out through dialling with each other. This system is executed in the environment of Client/server. Clients connect to the server through lava applet on WWW. The server is implemented by lava application, and it consists of three components : connection manager which controls the contact to users, work manager which keeps viewing in concurrency and provides virtual work space sharing with others, and solid modeler which generates 3D object.

  • This paper presents an automatic conversion of machining data from the orthographic views of press mold by feature recognition rule. The system includes following 6 modules : separation of views, function support, dimension text check and feature processing modules. The characteristic of this system is that with minimum user intervention, it recognizes basic features such as holes, slots, pockets and clamping parts and thus automatically converts CAD drawing details of press mold into machining data using 2D CAD system instead of using an expensive 3D Modeler. The system is developed by using IBM-PC in the environment of AutoCAD R12, AutoLISP and MetaWare High C. Performance of the system is verified as a good interfacing of CAD and CAM when applied to a lot of sample drawing.

  • This study is about development of Feature-based Solid Modeling system in integrated CAD/CAM environment. Parasolid modeling kernel and HOOPS/3D graphics library was used to develop this system in PC level. System feature library was defined using both procedural and declarative approach method. The raw stock is created by boolean operator using design primitives, and a part is designed that pre-defined feature is removed from the raw stock. This method is called "DSG(Destructive Solid Geometry)" and basic constructive operator of this system. This is not complete system and only the first step to develop Feature-based Solid Modeling System using Parasolid. We will add more powerful functionality and flexible GUI in Windows.n Windows.

  • This paper proposed efficient manufacturing system using OMM(on-machine measurement) system and OMM operating S/W based 3D modeler. A Developed program connected tool machine with RS232C. It is composed two operating system that touch probe operating and laser displacement sensor operating system. A program for touch probe possible measure considered inspection feature and CAD data. The laser operating program is used inspection for profile. very small hole using installed feature data. This system is applied manufacturing line of mold(cavity, core) also verification of efficiency manufacturing process that production, reduction machining error of each process

  • In this paper, an automated design system of suspension and steering parts is developed. The system automates the processes of 3-D modeling and 2-D drafting of the parts. In addition, the BOM and dimension data of the designed part is also automatically transferred to the database of ERP system. The system is developed by using the functions of parametric design and API(application Programming Interface) of the a commercial solid modeler.
