Change of Total Convergence on Visual Function Case after 3D Images

  • The level of change in distant PTC, near PTC, distant NTC, and near NTC was measured divided by before and after viewing 3D images. The 50 examinees were categorized into Low/ Middle/ High groups according to the level of change by test subject. Among all the entries, the exophoria group showed the highest change distribution, and in the distant and near NTC entries showed statistically significant differences in variation.

  • The desktop-level 3D printing machines makes it easier for independent designers to produce collectible models. Desktop 3D printers that use FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology usually use a minimum nozzle diameter of 0.4mm. When using FDM printers to make Gunpla models, Thin slice structures are prone to slicing errors, which lead to deformation of printed objects and reduction in structural strength. This paper aims to analyze the printing model that produces errors, control a single variable among the three variables of slice layer height, slice wall thickness and filament type for comparative testing, and find a way to avoid gaps. To provide assistance for using FDM printers to build models containing thin-walled structures.

Design and Implementation of the 4D-Media Broadcasting Service System in a Smart TV Environment (스마트 TV 환경을 위한 4D 미디어 방송 서비스 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently, as the development of 3D contents service, production of 4D media that user can feel physical effects by the scene of movie has been increased. This 4D media uses the SMMD (Single Media Multiple Devices) method to give users enhanced effects with multiple devices playing rather than the SMSD (Single Media Single Device) method with single device playing in a smart TV environment. To give more sensible effects to users, from the beginning of making one media, we produced 4D media that consists of 3D contents and the SEM (Sensory Effect Metadata) to define effects of the scene. 4D media is transmitted to a HS (Home Server) to represent 3D contents in 3DTV and multiple devices with synchronized way. In this paper, we suggested the concept and overall 4D media broadcasting service system architecture, aggregator time acquisition, media time scheduling, real-sense device scheduling, evaluation results, user interfaces and implemented devices.

  • 3D image must have depth image for depth information in order for 3D realistic media broadcasting. We used generally belief propagation algorithm to solve probability model. Belief propagation algorithm is operated by message passing between nodes corresponding to each pixel. The high resolution image will be able to precisely represent but that required much computational complexity for 3D representation. We proposed fast stereo matching algorithm using belief propagation with multi-resolution based wavelet or lifting. This method can be shown efficiently computational time at much iterations for accurate disparity map.

  • Today, each broadcasting station makes the best use of CG (computer Graphics), which is the latest technology in election broadcasting, and competes to attract the eyes of viewers. This paper investigated the history of CG technology and design transitions in election ballot counting broadcasts from the perspective of CG designers. From the 1980s, when computer-based election ballot counting began, to the full-scale use of virtual studios, the image and technology produced by CG while watching the ballot-counting broadcast video of general elections, presidential elections, and local elections. We analyzed the utilization from various angles. In Korea, we started with the EDDS (Election Data Display System) developed in-house, created a database using a computer, and introduced manual animation CG every day from that time. After that, broadcasting stations focused on diverse and gorgeous CG image competition, and CG images were expanded from 2D to 3D while technology and design developed together. From 1985 to 1992, Korean broadcasting can be seen as a transitional period in which the image changes due to the emphasis on information power while utilizing digital technology.

  • This study is to consider the major policy issues related to 3DTV in terms of the platform projects, not the terminal and equipment manufacture. It reviews what problems the 3D policy in terms of the platform projects has posed so far, and discusses the issues that may appear when the 3D TV is commercialized in the broadcasting market. The major issues dealt in the study include the frequency policy of the terrestrial platform, the additional services activation of the pay platform players, the retransmission policy of terrestrial broadcasting, and the advertising market policy.

  • Automatic inspection system is required for increment of copper plate production and demand expansion. Thus 3D surface form and defect detection of copper plate calls for 3D image and GUI analysis. Limitation of 2D analysis, such as error occurrence and decision difficulty makes eye inspection automatic. Automatic inspection is able to raise accurate inspection rate and productivity efficiency elevation. In this paper defect classification is defined and inspection system is implemented. Defect analysis algorithms and GUI for 3D image analysis is developed and tested.

  • The user-centric broadcasting environment includes the agent system and personalized broadcasting services for user-adaptive TV watching. In this paper, we propose broadcasting environment consisting of personalized broadcasting services and a multi-agent broadcasting system for the services. The proposed system employs the intelligent agent technology of the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) as well as metadata technology of MPEG-7 and TV-Anytime Forum (TVAF). To verify the usefulness of the proposed environment, we implemented a test-bed and demonstrated the proposed agent system with three services including intelligent user-information management service, information mobility service, and content retrieval service.
