The purpose of this study is to support the integration from current 2D drawing-based design to future 3D model-based design. In this paper, an important theme is the combination between the STEP-based 2D drawing standards (i.e., AP202) and the IFC-based 3D building model standards. To achieve the purpose, two methodologies are proposed as follows: the development of IFC extension model for the 2D shape data representation by harmonizing ISO/STEP AP202; and the development of mapping solution between IFC 2D extension model and KOSDIC by constructing the exchange scenario for 2D shape data representation. It is expected that the proposed IFC2X2 2D extension model and mapping solution will offer the basis of development of the integrated standards model in AEC industry.
Animated anaglyph is the most cost-effective method for 3D stereo visualization of virtual or actual 3D geo-based data model. Unlike 3D anaglyph scene generation using paired epipolar images, the main data sets of this study is the multi-typed 3D feature model containing 3D shaped objects, DEM and satellite imagery. For this purpose, a prototype implementation for 3D animated anaglyph using OpenGL API is carried out, and virtual 3D feature modeling is performed to demonstrate the applicability of this anaglyph approach. Although 3D features are not real objects in this stage, these can be substituted with actual 3D feature model with full texture images along all facades. Currently, it is regarded as the special viewing effect within 3D GIS application domains, because just stereo 3D viewing is a part of lots of GIS functionalities or remote sensing image processing modules. Animated anaglyph process can be linked with real-time manipulation process of 3D feature model and its database attributes in real world problem. As well, this approach of feature-based 3D animated anaglyph scheme is a bridging technology to further image-based 3D animated anaglyph rendering system, portable mobile 3D stereo viewing system or auto-stereo viewing system without glasses for multi-viewers.
Point cloud is a set of points for representing a 3D object, and consists of geometric information, which is 3D coordinate information, and attribute information, which is information representing color, reflectance, and the like. In this way of expressing, it has a vast amount of data compared to 2D images. Therefore, a process of compressing the point cloud data in order to transmit the point cloud data or use it in various fields is required. Unlike color information corresponding to all 2D geometric information constituting a 2D image, a point cloud represents a point cloud including attribute information such as color in only a part of the 3D space. Therefore, separate processing of geometric information is also required. Based on these characteristics of point clouds, MPEG under ISO/IEC standardizes V-PCC, which imitates point cloud images and compresses them into 2D DCT-based 2D image compression codecs, as a compression method for high-density point cloud data. This has limitations in accurately representing 3D spatial information to proceed with compression by converting 3D point clouds to 2D, and difficulty in processing non-existent points when utilizing 3D DCT. Therefore, in this paper, we present 3D Discrete Cosine Transform-based Point Cloud Compression (3DCT PCC), a method to compress point cloud data, which is a 3D image by utilizing 3D DCT, and confirm the efficiency of 3D DCT compared to V-PCC based on 2D DCT.

A controller who is responsible for visiter's safety makes a decision about measures for visiter safety in human-based decision making process. Many potential accidents that are caused by human error lurk in results of the process. The accidents can be decreased by changing the decision making process from human-based into technology-based. Technology-based decision making process can catch a controller's attention through data filtering, alarm filtering, and so on. So, the controller can get information on occurrence of an unforeseen accident pro-actively. The objective of this study is to suggest a concept of 3D spatial information control system for visitor flow control in multi complex building using technology-based decision making process. This study shows utilization of the system and contribution.

The self-weight of the 3D printing concrete increases with increasing printing height. Therefore, the lower layer must be hardened within a suitable time to secure continuous printing performance. In particular, the hardening speed of concrete is slow in the winter season when the temperature was low. Hence, the early strength of 3D printing concrete requires improvement. In domestic and international literature, cases of increasing the early strength of concrete using inorganic chemical additives, such as amine-based, nitrate-based, sodium-based, and calcium-based, have been reported. In this study, early strength improvement-type additive samples (amine-based, nitrate-based, sodium-based) were prepared, and their performance was evaluated. When using a nitrate-based additive, the early strength was increased significantly in a 10 ℃ environment. In addition, it was possible to secure a higher early strength than the existing 3D printing concrete mixed at 20 ℃.

Interior construction is required to estimate the quantity of material and the cost expected from 2D drawing in design phase and look for the reasonable method of work. Therefore, exact estimation for quantity and budgeting are very important processes, as a measure of judging the profitability of interior construction. These processes are mostly based on 2D drawing, so time and experienced staff are required. Error and omission can occur because the experienced staff also calculates the area using 2D based drawing. Interior market is currently based on 3D modeling from planning to final design. Accordingly, estimating quantity based on 3D modeling is emerging as a way of reducing error and omission. This paper will present the methodology on calculating area, the basic element of estimating quantity based on 3D Modeling in interior field.

Structural supervision on the construction site has been performed based on visual inspection, which is highly labor-intensive and subjective. In this study, the remote technique was developed to improve the efficiency of the measurements on rebar spacing using a 360° camera and reconstructed 3D models. The proposed method was verified by measuring the spacings in reinforced concrete structure, where the twelve locations in the construction site (265 m2) were scanned within 20 seconds per location and a total of 15 minutes was taken. SLAM, consisting of SIFT, RANSAC, and General framework graph optimization algorithms, produces RGB-based 3D and 3D point cloud models, respectively. The minimum resolution of the 3D point cloud was 0.1mm while that of the RGB-based 3D model was 10 mm. Based on the results from both 3D models, the measurement error was from 10.8% to 0.3% in the 3D point cloud and from 28.4% to 3.1% in the RGB-based 3D model. The results demonstrate that the proposed method has great potential for remote structural supervision with respect to its accuracy and objectivity.

ISO 15926 is an international standard for the sharing and integration of plant lifecycle information. Plant design data consist of logical configuration, equipment specifications, 2D piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), and 3D plant models (shape data). Although 3D computer-aided design (CAD) data is very important data across the plant lifecycle, few studies on the exchange of 3D CAD data using ISO 15926 have been conducted so far. For this, we analyze information requirements regarding plant 3D design in the process industry. Based on the analysis, ISO 15926 templates are defined for the representation of constructive solid geometry (CSG) - based 3D design data. Since system environments for 3D CAD modeling and Semantic Web technologies are different from each other, we present system architecture for processing and visualizing plant 3D design data in the Web Ontology Language (OWL) format. Through the visualization test of ISO 15926-based 3D design data for equipment with a prototype system, feasibility of the proposed method is verified.
This research is to understand customer satisfaction with virtual fitting based on a 3D body scanner and avatars as well as differences between avatars and the 'real me'. To this end, this research examined Korean college students to facilitate 3D body scanning, avatar generation and surveys. The author used 3D body scan data with direct measurements to identify differences between the 3D body scan data-based 'my avatar' and 'real me' in the virtual dress fitting system. The survey results on 'the level of customer awareness on 3D body scanner' found that the majority of both genders did not know about it and indicated a lower usability to incorporate IT technology into the fashion industry. The question in the 3D body scanning and avatar found an affirmative attitude. Satisfaction levels on the 3D avatars' similarity with 'own body' and garment fitting were positive and indicated a need for further technological improvements to express the avatars identical to customers' own body. More research is necessary for the accuracy of sizes for 3D body scanning that measure body sizes while wearing clothes. Avatars based on such datamay be less similar to 'own body' and cause customer dissatisfaction. Thus, further technology development is required to narrow gaps using data to make avatars that provide more accurate virtual fitting simulation services to customers.
Spatial relations among objects we one of the most frequently used searching criteria for a query based on the contents of 3-D images. However, the existing researches have mainly focused only the absolute directional relations based on a fixed viewpoint in 2-D images. So, this paper presents a representation method of viewpoint based directional relations that enables spatial relations among objects to be retrieved based on a viewpoint of an observer. The retrieval technique based on our method is a]so described. In this paper, the notion of 3D string is defined to express the spatial relations in a 3-D space. A retrieval method based on relative directional relations among objects from a viewpoint of an observer is also presented. The proposed method simplifies the retrieval of viewpoint-based directional relations because 2D+1D scheme reduces the dimension.
