Local Parameterization of Polygonal Models Using Projection Level Set (투영 등위 집합을 이용한 다면체 모델의 부분 매개 변수화)

  • Parameterization has been one of very important research subjects in several application areas including computer graphics. In the parameterization research, the problem of mapping 3D polygonal model to 2D plane has been studied frequently, but the previous methods often fail to handle complicated shapes of polygonal surfaces effectively as well as entail distortion between the 3D and 2D spaces. Several attempts have been made especially to reduce such distortion, but they often suffer from the problem when an arbitrary rectangular surface region on 3D model is locally parameterized. In this paper, we propose a new local parameterization scheme based on the projection level set method. This technique generates a series of equi-distanced curves on the surface region of interest, which are then used to generate effective local parameterization information. In this paper, we explain the new technique in detail and show its effectiveness by demonstrating experimental results.

Realistic individual 3D face modeling (사실적인 3D 얼굴 모델링 시스템)

  • In this paper, we present realistic 3D head modeling and facial expression systems. For 3D head modeling, we perform generic model fitting to make individual head shape and texture mapping. To calculate the deformation function in the generic model fitting, we determine correspondence between individual heads and the generic model. Then, we reconstruct the feature points to 3D with simultaneously captured images from calibrated stereo camera. For texture mapping, we project the fitted generic model to image and map the texture in the predefined triangle mesh to generic model. To prevent extracting the wrong texture, we propose a simple method using a modified interpolation function. For generating 3D facial expression, we use the vector muscle based algorithm. For more realistic facial expression, we add the deformation of the skin according to the jaw rotation to basic vector muscle model and apply mass spring model. Finally, several 3D facial expression results are shown at the end of the paper.

  • IR thermography is a non-invasive method and used for the visualization of the surface temperature of the model. However, this technique only derives 2D results and not quantitative data. The goal of this study is to apply the 3D mapping technique for IR thermography. The wind tunnel model is an ogive-cylinder with a wind speed of 20 m/s ~ 80 m/s and the angle of attack ranging from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$. The real location of the model was made to correspond with the position of the IR image using the makers. Based on this result, quantitative results were obtained. The 3D mapping method was verified by comparing the separation point and the theoretical value.

  • The texture mapping used for the low-polygon models is one of the important workflows in the graphical representation of the 3D game. Only one hand painted texture is mapped on the surface of the 3D model and represents the color of the material and visual sense of touching by itself in that process. In the 3D game graphics, it is very important to visualize the textile sensation such as protruding and denting. It can be interpreted by the Gestalt Law to recognize a plane as a 3D sense of volume. Moreover, the concept of Affordance is necessary to recognize and perceive the textile sensation. It means visual recognizing of that relationship in the learning process. In this paper, The questionnaire survey targeting 3D game graphic designers is carried out. By analyzing the survey results, we suggest the important characteristic in the process of making hand painted texture.

  • Contemporary 21st century, the rapid development of technology has achieved due to the emergence of various digital devices, a variety of media to the diversification of the limits of visual representation is reduced. Therefore, the combination of technology and art, visual arts, giving limits of getting it free to the public will feel fresh new visual impact. Such a new approach to light of a combination of technology and art, a variety of fine art and motion picture of the visual arts, such as has been recognized as a new genre. Of the resolution of the projector by utilizing the current reality and unreality beyond the boundaries of the building or structure in the city, as a schematic design of the screen projected structure and mapping of the art technology in an attempt to integrate recent has been studied in various ways. The projected structure design and the mapping of the art technology in an attempt to incorporate recent research has been diverse. In this study, as a new technology of a projection mapping to study the technique of looking for the definition of mapping practices to maximize the effectiveness of Visual Perception 3D animation was applied to a case study. A combination of 3D animation and project mapping in the future the fusion of art and technology to meet the zeitgeist with new possibilities of visual art to create synergies that is expected.

Mapping 2D Midship Section into 3D Structural Models based on STEP AP218 (STEP AP218 방법에 따른 중앙단면 2차원 정보의 3차원 구조 모델로 매핑)

  • The structural model of midship section is within the scope of STEP AP218. It supports to represent the ship structure, but most of shipyards and classification societies exchange the information using 2D drawings at the present. To translate the 2D information into the ship structure model of STEP AP218, we analyze the 2D midship section information of KR-TRAS of Korean Register of shipping, and include the transverse members information with the 3D model. We also define the mapping table and the mapping relationships between two data structures. With this mapping table we develop the translator for the midship section, and visualize the translated ship structure model using a STEP viewer. The ship structure model can be used to exchange information between design departments, and through the lifecycle of design, analysis, and maintenance.

  • 본 논문은 3차원 TV에 있어서, 인간의 색 순응에 근거하여 3차원 재생 방식에서도 2차원 재생 방식의 색상을 재현하기 위한 색상 톤 매핑 연산자를 제안한다. 이를 위하여 각 재생 방식에 따라 동일한 128단계의 무채색 색표를 이용한 색상 요소 입출력 관계 곡선을 측정 및 모델링하였고, 그 오차를 보정하기 위한 색상 톤 매핑 연산자를 도출하였다. 또한 도출된 색상 톤 매핑 연산자에 의한 색 포화 및 색 대비 왜곡을 완화하기 위하여 동적 영역 정규화를 실시하였다. 이를 통해 기존 3차원 영상 대비 10.13dB의 PSNR 개선 효과를 확인 할 수 있었다.

Design of an Effective Bump Mapping Hardware Architecture Using Angular Operation (각 연산을 이용한 효과적인 범프 매핑 하드웨어 구조 설계)

  • Bump mapping is a technique that represents the detailed parts of the object surface, such as a perturberance of the skin of a peanut, using the geometry mapping without complex modeling. However, the hardware implementation for bump mapping is considerable, because a large amount of per pixel computation, including the normal vector shading, is required. In this paper, we propose a new bump mapping algorithm using the polar coordinate system and its hardware architecture. Compared with other existing architectures, our approach performs bump mapping effectively by using a new vector rotation method for transformation into the reference space and minimizing illumination calculation. Consequently, our proposed architecture reduces a large amount of computation and hardware requirements.

  • The MMS(Mobile Mapping System) using the vehicle equipped GPS, IMU and CCD Cameras is the effective system for the management of the road facilities, update of the digital map, and etc. The image, vehicle's 3 dimensional position and attitude information provided MMS is a important source for positioning objects included the image. In this research we applied the tracking technique to the specific object in image. The extraction of important object from immense MMS data makes more effectiveness in this system.

  • 본 논문에서는 COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 시스템에서 각 부채널이 갖는 신호대 잡음의 양을 수신단이 측정할 수 있는 특징을 이용하여 콘볼루셔널 디코더 메트릭 계산에 반영함으로서 콘볼루셔널 디코더의 성능이 향상될 수 있는 방안을 제안한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 OFDM 시스템에서 각 부채널이 갖는 신호대 잡음의 양은 부채널에서의 수신신호 전력에 비례함을 보인다. 또한, 콘볼루셔널 디코더의 메트릭 계산방법으로는 연판정 방법을 사용한다. 이때 부채널에서 수신된 신호의 신뢰도로 하여 신뢰도가 떨어지는 수신신호에 대하여는 메트릭 계산 과정에서 영향을 감쇄시키고 신뢰도가 높은 수신신호는 영향을 증대시키도록 한다. 제안된 방법을 경수로 20이고 직접파가 없는 다중경로채널에 적용하여 모의실험한 결과 coherent QPSK 매핑방법을 사용한 COFDM 시스템에서 10-4 BER을 기준으로 할 때 약 1.1dB의 SNR 성능향상을 얻었으며 16-QAM 매핑방법에서는 약 3.1dB 그리고 64-QAM 매핑방법을 사용한 경우 약 6.0dB의 성능향상을 얻었다.
