Optical communication systems are rapidly spread following increases in data traffic. In this work, a 32-Gb/s inductorless output buffer circuit with adjustable pre-emphasis is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of an output buffer circuit and an emphasis circuit. The emphasis circuit emphasizes the high frequency components and adds the characteristics of the output buffer circuit. We proposed a design method using a small-signal equivalent-circuit model and designed the compensation characteristics with a 65-nm CMOS process in detail using HSPICE simulation. We also realized adjustable emphasis characteristics by controlling the voltage. To confirm the advantages of the proposed circuit and the design method, we fabricated an output buffer IC with adjustable pre-emphasis. We measured the jitter and eye height with a 32-Gb/s input using the IC. Measurement results of double-emphasis showed that the jitter was 14% lower, and the eye height was 59% larger than single-emphasis, indicating that our proposed configuration can be applied to the design of an output buffer circuit for higher operation speed.
A 640Gb/s high-speed ATM switching system that is based on the technologies of advanced MCM, 0.25um CMOS and optical WDM interconnection is fabricated for future N-ISDN services. A 40 layer, 160mm$\times$114mm ceramic MCM realizes the basic ATM switch module with 80Gbps throughput. The basic unit ATM switch module with 80Gb/s throughput. The basic unit ATM switch MCM consists of in 8 chip advanced 0.25um CMOS VLSI and 32 chip I/O Bipolar VLSIs. The MCM employs an 40 layer, very thin layer ceramic MCM and a uniquely structured closed loop type liquid colling system is adopted to cope with the MCM's high-power dissipation of 230w. The MCM is Mounted on a 32cm$\times$50cm mother board. A three stage ATM switch is realized by optical WDM interconnection between the high-performance MCM.
The interaction of bilobalide (BB) and ginkgolides B (GB) with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated by fluorescent technique and UV/vis absorption spectroscopy. The results showed that BB and GB could intensively quench the fluorescence of BSA through a static quenching procedure. The binding constants (Ka) and the average binding distance between the donor (BSA) and the acceptor (ginkgolides) were obtained ($r_{BB}$ = 5.33 nm and $r_{GB}$ = 4.20 nm) by the theory of non-radiation energy transfer, and then the thermodynamic parameters such as ${\Delta}S^0$ (0.17-0.32 kJ/mol), ${\Delta}G^0$ (-20.76 ~ -17.79 kJ/mol) and ${\Delta}H^0$ (32.47-76.52 kJ/mol) could be calculated, respectively. All these results revealed that the interaction of BB and GB with BSA were driven mainly by hydrophobie force. The synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy was applied to examine the effect of two ginkgolides on the configuration of BSA. The configuration alteration of BSA could be induced by the hydrophobicitv environment of tyrosine with the increase of the drug concentration.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of warm needling at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$ on Complete Freund's Adjuvant(CFA)-induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats. Methods : Arthritis was induced by injecting CFA subcutaneously into the left knee joint and paw. Acupuncture(AT) and warm needling(W-AT0.5, W-AT1.0) were injected at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$, every other day for a total of 5 times beginning on day 10 after the CFA injection. Thereafter, external shape, paw edema, serum aminotransferase and anti-inflammatory factors were assessed, and hematological and histological observations were made. Results : In paw edema volume all 3 groups(AT, W-AT0.5, W-AT1.0) showed significant decrease compared to the CFA control group. In TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6, all 3 groups showed significant decrease compared to CFA control group. In AST and ALT all 3 groups showed no significant change. In IL-$1{\beta}$, W-AT0.5 and W-AT1.0, groups showed significant decrease compared to the CFA control group. Leucocyte, erythrocyte and thrombocyte, all 3 groups showed no significant change. In histological observations, all 3 groups were similar to the intact group in terms of synoviocyte, cartilage lacuna and cartilage cells. Conclusions : The results suggest that warm needling at $GB_{30}{\cdot}GB_{34}$, has the effect of suppressing inflammation of CFA-induced rheumatoid arthritis in rats.

A 1.8V 2-Gb/s scalable low voltage signaling (SLVS) transmitter (TX) is designed for mobile applications requiring high speed and low power consumption. It consists of 4-lane TX for data transmission, 1-lane TX for a source synchronous clocking, and a 8-phase clock generator. The proposed SLVS TX has the scaling voltage swing from 50 mV to 650 mV and supports a high speed (HS) mode and a low power (LP) mode. An output impedance calibration scheme for the SVLS TX is proposed to improve the signal integrity. The proposed SLVS TX is implemented by using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal CMOS with a 1.8 V supply. The simulated data jitter of the implemented SLVS TX is about 8.04 ps at the data rate of 2-Gb/s. The area and power consumption of the 1-lane of the proposed SLVS TX are $422{\times}474{\mu}m^2$ and 5.35 mW/Gb/s, respectively.
In Exp. 1, this study was conducted to determine the effect of dietary germanium biotite on growth performance and nutrient digestibility in nursery pigs. A total of sixty crossbred pigs (initial body weight 15.09$\pm$0.18kg) were used in this experiment. This study was carried out for 28 days. The five treatments were control (CON; basal diet), GB0.1 (basal diet + germanium biotite 0.1%), GB0.3 (basal diet + germanium biotite 0.3%), GB0.6 (basal diet + germanium biotite 0.6%) and GB1.0 (basal diet + germanium biotite 1.0%). For overall period, ADG and Gain/feed were not significantly different among the treatments. In Exp. 2, a study was conducted to evaluate the effect of germanium biotite as a substitute for antibiotics in growing pigs. A total of fifty five crossbred pigs (initial body weight 32.47$\pm$0.9kg) were used in this experiment. The three treatments were negative control (NC: basal diet without antibiotic), positive control (PC: basal diet + 200ppm CTC) and GB0.3 (basal diet + germanium biotite 0.3%). Pigs fed PC (17%, 385 vs 451 g/d) and GB0.3 (14%, 385 vs 438 g/d) diets grew faster(P<0.05) than pigs fed NC diet. Pigs fed PC and GB0.3 diets resulted higher(P<0.05) ADFI than pigs fed CON diet. However, pigs fed GB0.3 diet had improved gain/feed compared to pigs fed NC diet(P<0.05). Apparent digestibility of DM and N by pigs fed PC and GB0.3 diets were greater(P<0.05) than those by pigs fed NC diet. In Exp. 3, a study was conducted to determine the effect of dietary germanium biotite on growth performance, plasma characteristics, backfat thickness and fecal ammonia gas concentration in finishing pigs. A total of seventy-two finishing pigs (initial body weight 78.56$\pm$1.32kg) were used in this experiment. The treatments included 1) Control (CON; basal diet) 2) GB1.0 (basal diet + germanium biotite 1.0%), 3) GB3.0 (basal diet + germanium biotite 3.0%). Pigs fed GB1.0 diet grew faster than pigs fed CON diet and GB0.3 diet (P<0.05). Also, pigs fed CON diet showed higher(p<0.05) ADFI than pigs fed GB3.0 diet. Pigs fed GB diets had improved gain/feed compared to pigs fed CON diet(P<0.05). Total?and VLDL concentrations in plasma of pigs fed GB diets treatments were significantly decreased compared to those in pig fed CON diet(P<0.05). However, HDL-cholesterol concentration in plasma of the pig was significantly increased compared to those in pigs fed CON diet (P<0.05). Pigs fed CON diet exerted higher(P<0.05) backfat thickness than pigs fed GB1.0 (5.4%, 27.19 vs 25.71mm) and GB3.0 (16.1%, 27.19 vs 22.81mm) diets. Feces from CON treatment were higher in fecal ammonia gas concentration than faces from pigs fed GB1.0 (64.1%, 17.00 vs 6.10mg/kg)and GB3.0 (61.8%, 17.00 vs 6.50mg/kg) treatments(P<0.05). In conclusion, the results suggest that the dietary addition of germanium biotite into diets for nursery pigs did not affect growth performance. The results also suggest the possibility of germanium biotite to replace antibiotic in diets for growing pigs. In finishing pigs, dietary supplementation of germanium biotite was an effective means for improving growth performance and for decreasing Total-and LDL+VLDL-plasma cholesterols, backfat and fecal ammonia gas concentration.
We fabricated 40 Gb/s front-end optical receivers using spot-size converter integrated waveguide photodiodes (SSC-WGPDs). The fabricated SSC-WGPD chips showed a high responsivity of approximately 0.8 A/W and a 3 dB bandwidth of approximately 40 GHz. A selective wet-etching method was first adopted to realize the required width and depth of a tapered waveguide. Two types of electrical pre-amplifier chips were used in our study. One has higher gain and the other has a broader bandwidth. The 3 dB bandwidths of the higher gain and broader bandwidth modules were about 32 and 42 GHz, respectively. Clear 40 Gb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ) eye diagrams showed good system applicability of these modules.

The efficienty of ATM is based on the statical multiplexing of fixed-length packets, which are called cells. The most important technical point for realizing ATM switching network is an arrangement of the buffers and switches. Current most ATM switching networks are being achieved by using the switching modules based on the unit switch of $8{\times}8$ 150Mb/s or $16{\times}16$ 150Mb/s, the unit switch of $32{\times}32$150Mb/s for a large scale system is under study in many countries. In this paper, we proposed a new $32{\times}32$(4.9Gb/s throughput) ATM switch using Shared buffer memory switch which provides superior traffic characteristics in the cell loss, delay and throughput performance and easy LSI(Large Scale Integrated circuit). We analytically estimated and simulated by computer the buffer size into it. We also proposed the configuration of the large capacity ATM switching network($M{\times}M$.M>1,000) consisting of multistage to improve the link speed by non-blocking.

We propose a network processor called an OmniFlow processor capable of wire-speed flow management by a hardware-based flow admission control(FAC) in this paper. Because the OmniFlow processor can set up and release a wire-speed connection for flows, the update period of flows can be set to a short time, and only active flows can be effectively managed by terminating a flow that does not have a packet transmitted within this period. Therefore, the FAC can be used to provide a reliable transmission of UDP as well as TCP applications. This processor is fabricated in 65nm CMOS technology, and total gate count is 25 million. It has 40 Gb/s throughput performance in using the 32 RISC cores when maximum operating frequency is 555MHz.
