This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimal cooling rate and the plunging temperature into liquid nitrogen of the 8-cell hamster embryos. The female hamsters were induced to superovulate by intraperitoneal injection of 30 i.u. PMSG. Embryos were flushed from oviduct and uterine horn. Embryos were frozen and incubated with a modified Dulbecco's phosphate buffered saline, and equilibrated with 1.5M-dimethyl sulfoxide by a 3-step procedure. The cooling rate of samples was 1$^{\circ}C$/min from room temperature to -5$^{\circ}C$ and the samples were seeded at -5$^{\circ}C$. The plunging temperatures into liquid nitrogen were -20, -25, -30, -35, -40, -45, -50 and -55$^{\circ}C$ at 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min, 0.5$^{\circ}C$/min and 1$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rates, respectively. This mean numbers of ovulation points and recovered embryos were 59.4 and 48.4 appearing 81.6% recovery rate. The percentage of 8-cell embryos in recovered embryos was 68.2. The survival rates of embryos plunged at -45$^{\circ}C$ were 73.5% at 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min, 44.8% at 0.5$^{\circ}C$/min and 30.3% at 1$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rates, respectively. The survival rates at 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min were significantly high. Under the condition of 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rate, the survival rates of embryos according to the plunging temperature were 70.0% and 73.5% at -40 and -45$^{\circ}C$, and those were higher than other plunging temperatures. Under the condition of 0.5$^{\circ}C$/min and 1$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rates, the survival rates according to the plunging temperatures were lower than the cooling rate of 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min, showing the similar tendency at all the plunging temperatures. In conclusion, 8-cell hamster embryos showed the best survival rates at 0.3$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rate and -45$^{\circ}C$ plunging temperature.
We examined effects of interleukin $1{\alpha}$ ($IL1{\alpha}$) and phorbol 12, 13 dibutyrate (PDB), an activator of protein kinase C, on mRNA for Prostaglandin H synthase (PGHS) and prostanoid production in cultured ovine meningeal fibroblasts. Immuno- and morphologically-identified fibroblasts were derived from cerebral cortex and white matter from fetal lambs (approximately 120 days gestation) and grown to confluence on glass coverslips in 12 well plates. Levels of prostaglandin $F_{2{\alpha}}$ and the stable hydrolysis product of prostacyclin (i.e., $6-keto-PGF_{1{\alpha}}$) were determined using enzyme immunoassay. Relative amounts of mRNA were determined by in situ hybridization using ovine cDNA for PGHS1. $IL1{\alpha}$ (10 ng/ml) increased mRNA levels over baseline by $62{\pm}19%$ (p<0.05) at 60 min., $37{\pm}12%$ (NS) at 120 min., and $36{\pm}18%$ (NS) at 240 min (n=12). Levels of $6-keto-PGF_{1{\alpha}}$ were $148{\pm}18%$ pg/ml during baseline, $246{\pm}41%$ pg/ml at 60 min., $248{\pm}40%$ pg/ml at 120 min., and $259{\pm}62%$ pg/ml at 240 min (all p<0.05) (n=12). $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ was increased although it wasn't statistically significant. However, $IL1{\alpha}$ decreased $PGE_2$ level significantly (all p<0.05). PDB $(10^{-6}M)$ increased mRNA levels over baseline by $25{\pm}6%$ after 30 min., $40{\pm}6%$ after 60 min., and $20{\pm}8%$ after 90 min. (n=9) (all p<0.05). Levels of $6-keto-PGF_{1{\alpha}}$ were $200{\pm}43%$ pg/ml during baseline, $202{\pm}43%$ pg/ml after 30 min. (NS), $268{\pm}58%$ pg/ml after 60 min. (p<0.05), and $296{\pm}60%$ pg/ml after 90 min. (p<0.05) (n=9). Levels of $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ were $178{\pm}26%$ pg/ml during baseline, $300{\pm}30%$ pg/ml after 30 min., $299{\pm}35%$ pg/ml after 60 min., and $355{\pm}32%$ pg/ml after 90 min (all p<0.05) (n=6). Actinomycin-D (1 mg/ml) prevented increases in mRNA, $6-keto-PGF_{1{\alpha}}$, and $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ at 60 min. for both $IL1{\alpha}$ and PDB. We conclude that cerebral fibroblasts are avid producers of prostanoids, and that enhanced production of PGHS is responsible for augmented $PGF_{2{\alpha}}$ and prostacyclin production in the presence of an activator of protein kinase C and for decreased $PGE_2$ and increased prostacyclin production in the presence of $IL1{\alpha}$.
The purpose of this study was to prevent the dilutional effect of excessive absorption of irrigating solution by using furosemide intraoperatively during transurethral resection of the prostate, 30 patients, who belonged to physical status II or III of ASA classification, were selected randomly and divided with two groups as follows : G1(N=15) : Not-administrated furosemide(control group) G2(N=15) : Administrated furosemide(Experimental group). All patients were premedicated with Hydroxyzine(1mg/kg, IM) and were performed continous epidural anesthesia with 2% lidocaine(1-1.5mg/segment). For irrigating solution, 5% D-sorbitol was used and Hartman's solution were given for maintenance fluid and fixed the height of irrigating container to 60 cm from symphysis pubis. With the starting of operation, 20mg furosemide was administrated to experimental group. The blood samples for the values of $Na^+$, $K^+$, Glucose and BUN were performed at the periods of preoperation, 10 min, 20 min, 30 min after the starting of operation and immediate postoperation. Based these data, serum osmolality and effective osmolality were calculated. The results were as follows : 1. The sodium concentration of control group was decreased statistically significantly at 10 min, 20 min, 30 min after the starting of operation and immediate postoperative period as comparing with the preoperation value(p<0.05). But that of experimental Group was not changed significantly. 2. The serum osmolality and effective osmolality were decreased statistically significantly at 30 min after the starting of operation and immediate postoperative period as comparing with the preoperation value(p<0.05). But those of experimental group were not changed significantly. These results show that the dilutional effect of excessive absorption of irrigating solution might be prevented by using furosemide intraopertively. And so we recommend the use of furosemide during TURP, especially in patients with congestive heart failure or renal failure.
This study examined the association between hypertension (HTN), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) in Korean adults. Data for 8,922 adults (3,941 men and 4,981 women) aged ≥20 years from the Sixth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey VI (2013~2014) were analyzed. In men, after adjusting for the related variables, the odds ratios (ORs) of HTN [systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥140 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥90 mmHg, or use of HTN medications] were significantly higher in the decreased eGFR group [eGFR <60 mL/min/1.73 ㎡, 1.98 (95% CI, 1.21~3.24)], elevated ACR group [ACR ≥30 mg/g, 2.03 (95% CI, 1.54~2.69)], and decreased eGFR plus elevated ACR group [eGFR <60 mL/min/1.73 ㎡ and ACR ≥30 mg/g, 6.03 (95% CI, 2.82~12.92)] than in the normal group (eGFR ≥60 mL/min/1.73 ㎡ and ACR <30 mg/g). In women, after adjusting for the related variables, the ORs of HTN were significantly higher in the decreased eGFR group (2.29, 95% CI, 1.27~4.13), elevated ACR group (2.22, 95% CI, 1.68~2.94), and decreased eGFR plus elevated ACR group (10.77, 95% CI, 3.89~29.82) than the normal group. In conclusion, HTN was associated with a decreased eGFR and elevated ACR in Korean men and women. In addition, the prevalence of HTN increased greatly when a decreased eGFR and elevated ACR occurred simultaneously.
Spontaneous blinking as a function of visual activity and environmental condition with 60 healthy Korean young people(M=30, F=30) was estimated. Spontaneous blink rate of male and female was $19.2{\pm}2.0/min$ and $18.7{\pm}2.0/min$, respectively. There was no significant difference of blink rate in both contact lens wearer and non-wearer of female and also by various visual activity between female and male. Spontaneous blink rate was changed in response to changes in levels of visual activity and environmental condition such as windiness, rut not changed by light. In the more intense fixation spontaneous blink rate was lesser, but in the stronger windiness, the rate was higher than that in normal.
Metastable pseudomorphic GeSi layers grown by vapor phase epitaxy on Si(100) substrates were implanted at room temperature. The implantations were performed with 90 KeV As ions to a dose of $1\times 10^{13}\;\textrm{cm}^2$ for $Ge_{0.08}Si_{0.92}$ layers and 709 keV $BF_2^+$ ions to a dose of $3\times 10^{13}\;\textrm{cm}^2$ for $Ge_{0.06}Si_{0.94}$layers. The samples were subsequently annealed for short 10-40 s durations in a lamp furnace with a nitrogen ambient or for a long 30 min period in a vacuum tube furnace. For $Ge_{0.08}Si_{0.92}$samples annealed for a 30 min-longt duration at $700^{\circ}C$ the dopant activation can only reach 50% without introducing significant strain relaxaion whereas samples annealed for short 40s periods (at $850^{\circ}C$) can achieve more than 90% activation without a loss of strain, For $Ge_{0.06}Si_{0.94}$samples annealed for either 40s or 30min at $800^{\circ}C$ full electrical activation of the boron is exhibited in the GeSi epilayer without losing their strain. However when annealed at $900^{\circ}C$ the strain in both implanted and unimplanted layers is partly relaxed after 30min whereas it is not visibly relaxed after 40s.

Changes in visuospatial cognitive performance, blood oxygen saturation and heart rate due to the highly concentrated oxygen administration were observed in this study. Six male ($25.8 \pm$1.0) and six female (($23.8 \pm$ 1.9) adults were asked to perform 20 visuospatial tasks with the same level of difficulties by supplying two different oxygen levels (21%, 30%). Experiment consisted of Rest1 (1 min.), Control (1 min.), Task (4 min.), and Rest2 (4 min.) and physiological signals such as blood oxygen saturation and heart rate were measured through each stage. The result showed the accuracy of task performance increased significantly at 30% oxygen concentration compared with 21%, which means oxygen supply has positive effects on visuospatial cognitive performance. When 30% oxygen was supplied, blood oxygen saturation during control and task phases was increased and heart rate was decreased compared with 21%. It means that 30% oxygen can stimulate brain activities by directly increasing the actual level of blood oxygen concentration during cognitive performance, and enough oxygen supply during cognitive performance make heart rate decrease.
The microstructure and hardness of a porcelain fused Au-Pt-Cu-In alloy was investigated using optical microscopy, secondary electron microscopy, electron probe microanalyzer, transmission electron microscope, and vickers hardness. The hardness of the heat-treated Au-Pt-Cu-In quartenary alloy reached a maximum value in 30 min at 550$^{\circ}C$ in the range of 150 to 950$^{\circ}C$. In the aged Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy at 550$^{\circ}C$, the hardness of the alloy rapidly increased until 30min with increasing aging time and after that it was remained nearly constant value. Based on above results, glazing and final aging of the porcelain fused Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy were performed at 920 and 550$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The hardness of Au-Pt-Cu-0.5In alloy glazed at 920$^{\circ}C$ was 90 Hv and that of the alloy aged for 30 min at 550$^{\circ}C$ increased to 160 Hv. This indicates that a ceramic-metal crown with high strength can be manufactured using the glazing at 920$^{\circ}C$ and followed final aging at 550$^{\circ}C$ for 30 min.

The efficiency of manure treatment was investigated in terms of the pH, BOD, COD, SS, T-N and TP with a variation in the injection amount of PAC, polymer and ozone. The wastewater flow rate to the AOF is of $7.4m^3/hr$ with a reaction time of 30 minutes. The amount of PAC and polymer changed by 30, 35, 40 ml/min, and 30, 40, 50 ml/min, respectively. The amount of ozone injected varied from 110, 125, and $150kg-O_3/hr$. The optimum manure treatment performance was found for a PAC of 35 ml/min for the COD and SS, with polymer of 30 ml/min, and ozone injection of $150kg-O^3/hr$. A substantially optimum dose for each PAC, polymer, and ozone was also found to exist.

To find the relation between exercise and cytokines, we examined the effect of the training intensity on the levels of cytokines, including interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interlukine-4 (IL-4) and interlukine-4/interferon-gamma ratio (IL-4/IFN-γ ratio) in female Futsal players. Twelve well-trained female college Futsal players aged 19~22 participated in this study. The athletes completed 30-min of running at 60~65% maximal heart rate [moderate-intensity exercise], and 30-min of running at 75~80% maximal heart rate [high-intensity exercise]. peripheral blood samples were collected 24 h before and 24 h and 48 h after each of the exercise bouts. finding showed that The 30-min bout of moderate-intensity exercise induced a significant increase in IFN-γ (p=0.01) and significant decreases in IL-4 (p=0.001) and IL-4/IFN-γ ratio (p=0.003). And also, 30-min of running at 75~80% maximal heart rate induced increase in IFN-γ (p=0.07) and decreased in IL-4 (p=0.01) and IL-4/IFN-γ ratio (p=0.06) that these changes not significantly. In summary, exercise intensity can effect on the magnitude of changes in cytokines. It seems that moderate intensity exercise enhances cytokine pattern in female college Futsal players.
