A Speed Control Characteristics for Five-Phase Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor Injecting 3rd Current Harmonics Component (제3 고조파 전류성분 주입에 의한 5상 농형 유도전동기의 속도제어 특성)

  • This paper proposes a improved speed control system for five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM) injecting 3rd. current harmonic components with field oriented control (FOC) A five-phase IM drives present unique characteristics due to the additional degrees of freedom and also drives possess many others advantage compared with the traditional three-phase motor drive system, such as reducing a amplitude of torque pulsation at low frequency and increasing the reliability. In order to maximize the torque per ampere, the proposed motor has concentrated windings. The produced back-electromotive force is almost trapezoidal, and the motor is supplied with the combined sinusoidal plus third harmonic of currents. There is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current in order to high response characteristics. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed the speed control system, experimental results are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[kW] induction motor.

  • The phase-locked loop technique developed in the 1930's has many advantages when applied to speed control. The speed control and analysis of a three phase induction motor using the PLL are described in this paper. In this system, the phase frequency detector (PFD) compares the actual motor speed from the pulses received from a shaft encoder and desired speed, and the difference adjusts the frequency of the inverter that feeds the motor, and excellent speed regulation in the order of 0.035(%) has been-obtained. A linear continuous model of the drive is developed and system response is analysed using conventional root locus techniques. Various compensating filters and feedback signals are considered and the need for addition of derivative feedback is shown. A sampled data model is used to study the effects of discrete PFD output. Stability limitson speed are predicted. A drive was implimented and experimental results are presented to verify theoretical predictions.

A five-phase IM drives present unique characteristics due to the additional degrees of freedom and also drives possess many others advantage compared with the traditional three-phase motor drive system, such as reducing a amplitude of torque pulsation and increasing the reliability. Also a DTC method is advantageous when it is applied to the five-phase IM, because the five-phase inverter provides 32 space vectors in comparison to 8 space voltage vectors into the three-phase inverter drive system. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed DTC, experimental results of speed control are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[hp] IM.

  • This study is initiated to solve the problem that the development of an electric machine to drive heavy horse-power load required in the rural district, where only single phase supply is available, is very urgent. As a method for this purpose, the single/three phase converter by single phase induction machine with a tapped auxiliary winding, running unloaded mechanically under single-phase source and supplying three-phase output to a loaded 3-phase induction motor, is devised and the pilot machine is put into test. Analysis based on hybrid equivalent circuit for the phase converter and symmertical component theory for the 3-phase load motor and practical experiment result in that optimum auxiliary winding ratio is to be 1.25 rather than theoretical .root.3/2 in order to keep the voltage unbalance ratio of 3-phase output from the converter as low as possible in both cases of starting and running the load motor.

  • To get high efficiency in variable speed control of induction motor it is required that the vector control should be separated from flux components current and torque component current. In this paper the vector control is modeled by the estimation of the stator flex. Representing induction motor speed controller as a digital system with he use of he 32bit DSP improves the motor control performance The IGBT is used as the switching device and the validity of the proposed vector control is proved through voltage current wave and the characteristics of the velocity response as the drive circuit being simplified

  • In case of using three-phase induction motor in three-phase power system, if he deficiency happens in phase among three-phase, the motor will drive in an open phase state. As to the motor, the continuing operation is possible then, but the phenomenon that the power supply stops happening by the result of the overload electricity order on the healthy phase of two phases with a damage and activating the circuit breaker. Consequently, in order to overcome this problem in treatise accordingly. I propose an uninterruptible power supply which is able to prevent that the over current on the health phase through the restoration that in case happening open phase on the power line when driving the motor. Also, it is possible to supply power consecutively without interruption of electric power and we proved the performance and reliability through an experiment.

  • This paper deals with a three-phase Pulse width Modulation(PWM) voltage souse inverter-induction motor drive with a single-phase PWM converter. The single-phase system has the pulsating instantaneous power with twice the frequency of the ac source. The power pulsation generates the dc voltage pulsation of the converter. In result, the waveforms of the inverter output current and voltage are distorted. The steady-stare operations of the system are analyzed by employing a state-spare method Such everything confirmed it's validity throughout simulation and experiment.

MRAS Based Sensorless Control of a Series-Connected Five-Phase Two-Motor Drive System

  • Multi-phase machines can be used in variable speed drives. Their applications include electric ship propulsion, 'more-electric aircraft' and traction applications, electric vehicles, and hybrid electric vehicles. Multi-phase machines enable independent control of a few numbers of machines that are connected in series in a particular manner with their supply being fed from a single voltage source inverter(VSI). The idea was first implemented for a five-phase series-connected two-motor drive system, but is now applicable to any number of phases more than or equal to five-phase. The number of series-connected machines is a function of the phase number of VSI. Theoretical and simulation studies have already been reported for number of multi-phase multi-motor drive configurations of series-connection type. Variable speed induction motor drives without mechanical speed sensors at the motor shaft have the attractions of low cost and high reliability. To replace the sensor, information concerning the rotor speed is extracted from measured stator currents and voltages at motor terminals. Open-loop estimators or closed-loop observers are used for this purpose. They differ with respect to accuracy, robustness, and sensitivity against model parameter variations. This paper analyses operation of an MRAS estimator based sensorless control of a vector controlled series-connected two-motor five-phase drive system with current control in the stationary reference frame. Results, obtained with fixed-voltage, fixed-frequency supply, and hysteresis current control are presented for various operating conditions on the basis of simulation results. The purpose of this paper is to report the first ever simulation results on a sensorless control of a five-phase two-motor series-connected drive system. The operating principle is given followed by a description of the sensorless technique.

Due to the additional degrees of freedom, five-phase 1M drives present unique characteristics. Also five-phase motor drives possess many other advantages compared with the traditional three-phase motor drive system, such as reducing an amplitude of torque pulsation and increasing the reliability. The DTC method is advantageous when it is applied to the five-phase IM, because the five-phase inverter provides 32 space vectors in comparison to 8 space voltage vectors into the three-phase inverter. However, five-phase motor has structural drawback of 3rd space-harmonics current component, it is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current. So to control 3rd harmonic current and enhance dynamic characteristics of five-phase squirrel-cage IM drive, modified DTC method should be demanded. The characteristics and dynamic performance of traditional five-phase DTC are analyzed and new DTC for five-phase IM is presented. A more precise flux and torque control algorithm for the drives can be suggested and explained For presenting the superior performance of the proposed direct torque control, experimental results are presented using a 32-[bit] fixed point TMS320F2812 digital signal processor with 2.2[kW] induction motor.
