3-D P-wave velocity model in the southern Korean Peninsula is investigated by using the earthquake tomography method. This velocity model would be used to locate the exact hypocenter position, and also useful for our understanding of the crustal structure. The simultaneous inversion is used to get the minimum 1-D model and hypo-center relocation, which are used as an initial 3-D velocity model. The velocities in the minimum 1-D model are 6.04 km/s, 6.45 km/s, and 7.78 km/s between the depth of 0-19 km, 19-32 km, and 32-55 km respectively. In the 3-D P-wave velocity model, Layer 1 (0~3 km) has high velocities in Kyongsang basin, Yonglam massif, and Okchon folded belt, and low velocities in Kyonggi massif. In layer 2 (3~19 km) high velocities are predominent around Kyonsang basin and Yongnam massif except Yonil basin, but low velocities exist around Kyonggi massif and Okchon folded belt. In Laye. 3 (19~32 km) high velocities prevail throughout the southern part of Korean Peninsula, but low velocity does throughout the middle except SNU, YIN station in Konggi massif. In Layer 4 (32 km), the maximum velocity is showed in the middle and southwestern part, while the minimum velocity in the southeastern and coastal area. The depth of the velocity boundary corresponds to the crustal structure of the southern Korean Peninsula which is calculated by gravity data.
To understand the observed kinematics in the narrow-line region (NLR) of type 2 AGNs, we construct a model of 3-D biconical outflow combined with a thin dust plane. The model consists of two identical cones whose apex is located at the nucleus, and the cones are axisymmetric with respect to the bicone axis. After we define the properties of the bicone and the dust plane, we calculate a spatially integrated velocity and velocity dispersion along the line-of-sight using various physical parameters. As we test the effect of model parameters, we find three key parameters determining the integrated kinematics: intrinsic outflow velocity, bicone inclination, and the amount of dust extinction. The velocity dispersion increases as the intrinsic outflow velocity or the bicone inclination increases, while the velocity shift increases as the amount of dust extinction increases. We confirm that the integrated velocity dispersion can be a good indicator of the intrinsic outflow velocity unless dust extinction is not very strong (>~80%), while the effect of dust extinction can be alleviated by combining the integrated velocity and the velocity dispersion. Based on the simulated velocity distributions using the 3-D models, the variety of the observed [O $_{III}$] line profiles of type 2 AGNs can be well reproduced. In addition, we perform Monte Carlo simulations based on the different sets of model parameters. By comparing the model results with the observed [O $_{III}$] kinematics of ~39,000 SDSS type 2 AGNs (Woo et al. 2016), we find that the observed [O $_{III}$] velocity-velocity dispersion distribution is well reproduced by the biconical outflow model, enabling us to constrain the intrinsic physical parameters of outflows.

In this study, the material characterization and the dynamic behavior of 3D orthogonal woven composite materials has been studied under transverse central low-velocity impact condition by means of the micromechanical model using finite elements. To build up the micromechanical model considering tow spacing and waviness, an accurate unit structure is stacked in x-y-z direction repeatedly. First, the mechanical properties of 3D orthogonal woven composites arc obtained by means of virtual experiment using full scale Finite Element Analysis based on the DNS concepts, and the computed elastic properties arc validated by comparison to available experimental results. Second, using the implementation of this validated micromechanical model, 3D transient finite-clement analysis is performed considering contact and impact, and the impact behavior of 3D orthogonal woven composite is investigated. A comparison study with the homogenized model will be carried out in terms of global and local behaviors.

Automatic large scale soil model generation is very critical stage for earthquake hazard simulation of urban areas. Manual model development may cause some data losses and may not be effective when there are too many data from different soil observations in a wide area. Geographic information systems (GIS) for storing and analyzing spatial data help scientists to generate better models automatically. Although the original soil observations were limited to soil profile data, the recent developments in mapping technology, interpolation methods, and remote sensing have provided advanced soil model developments. Together with advanced computational technology, it is possible to handle much larger volumes of data. The scientists may solve difficult problems of describing the spatial variation of soil. In this study, an algorithm is proposed for automatic three dimensional soil and velocity model development of southern part of the European side of Istanbul next to Sea of Marmara based on GIS data. In the proposed algorithm, firstly bedrock surface is generated from integration of geological and geophysical measurements. Then, layer surface contacts are integrated with data gathered in vertical borings, and interpolations are interpreted on sections between the borings automatically. Three dimensional underground geology model is prepared using boring data, geologic cross sections and formation base contours drawn in the light of these data. During the preparation of the model, classification studies are made based on formation models. Then, 3D velocity models are developed by using geophysical measurements such as refraction-microtremor, array microtremor and PS logging. The soil and velocity models are integrated and final soil model is obtained. All stages of this algorithm are carried out automatically in the selected urban area. The system directly reads the GIS soil data in the selected part of urban area and 3D soil model is automatically developed for large scale earthquake hazard simulation studies.

Aiming at the problem of non-stationary wind field simulation of downbursts, a non-stationary down-burst generation system was designed by adding a nozzle and program control valve to the inlet of the original wall jet model. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was used to simulate the downburst. Firstly, the two-dimensional (2D) model was used to study the outflow situation, and the database of working conditions was formed. Then the combined superposition of working conditions was carried out to simulate the full-scale measured downburst. The three-dimensional (3D) large eddy simulation (LES) was used for further verification based on this superposition condition. Finally, the wind tunnel test is used to further verify. The results show that after the valve is opened, the wind ve-locity at low altitude increases rapidly, then stays stable, and the wind velocity at each point fluctuates. The velocity of the 2D model matches the wind velocity trend of the measured downburst well. The 3D model matches the measured downburst flow in terms of wind velocity and pulsation characteris-tics. The time-varying mean wind velocity of the wind tunnel test is in better agreement with the meas-ured time-varying mean wind velocity of the downburst. The power spectrum of fluctuating wind ve-locity at different vertical heights for the test condition also agrees well with the von Karman spectrum, and conforms to the "-5/3" law. The vertical profile of the maximum time-varying average wind veloci-ty obtained from the test shows the basic characteristics of the typical wind profile of the downburst. The effectiveness of the downburst generation system is verified.

Indonesia has a very short supply of electricity. As a solution to this problem, plans for construction of thermal power plants are increasing. Thermal power plant require the cooling water system to cool the overheated engine and equipment that accompany power generation, and the circulation water pump chamber among the cooling water system are generally designed according to the ANSI (1998) standard. In this study, the design criterion $20^{\circ}$ for the spreading angle of the ANSI (1998) of the layout of the circulating water pump chamber can not be satisfied on the K-coal thermal power plant site condition in Indonesia. Therefore, 3-D numerical model experiment was carried out to obtain a hydraulically stable flow and stable structure. The Flow-3D model was used as numerical model. In order to examine the applicability of the Flow-3D model, the flow study results around the rectangular structure of Rodi (1997) and the numerical analysis results were compared around the rectangular structures. The longitudinal velocity distribution derived from numerical analysis show good agreement. In order to satisfy the design velocity in the circulating water pump chamber, a rectangular baffle favoring velocity reduction was applied. When the approach velocity into the circulating water pump chamber was occurred 1.5 m/s ~ 2.5 m/s, the angle of the separation flow on the baffle was occurred about $15^{\circ}{\sim}20^{\circ}$. By placing the baffle below the separation flow angle downstream, the design velocity of less than 0.5 m/s was satisfied at inlet bay.
In this study, we suggest that several approaches to evaluate the collision acceleration value of a car in the article 35 and the guideline 16 of Korean rolling stock safety regulation. There are various methods to evaluate collision acceleration such as; a displacement comparison method by the double integration of filtered acceleration data, a velocity comparison method by the integration of filtered acceleration data, an analysis method of time-velocity curve, or a differential method of time-velocity curve. We compared these methods one another using 1D dynamic simulation model composed of nonlinear dampers, springs and bars, and masses. Also, we applied these methods to a hybrid model, which is made of 3D shell element model and 2D collision dynamics model, in order to evaluate whether 1D force-displacement curve modeling for energy absorbing structures have an effect on the collision acceleration levels or not.
It has been researched the relationship between deposition velocity and factors which could affect the deposition phenomena and deposition velocity also has been estimated fer several land-use types. The typical deposition velocities are complex functions of surface types, atmospheric stabilities, friction velocities, air pollutants and so on. The canopy resistance is major contribution to the model's total resistance for O₃. Canopy wetness is also an important factor to calculate deposition velocity. We considered the canopy wetness as canopy water content(CWC) in our Model. But, it is not easy to observe CWC over each land-use types. In this study, we use CWC observed by EMEFS(CANADA Environment Service, 1988) to examine the influence of CWC in estimation of 03 dry deposition velocity(V/sub d/) in summertime. The value of O₃ V/sub d/ range 0.2 ∼ 0.7 cm s/sup -1/ on dry surface and 0.01 ∼ 0.35 cm s/sup -1/ on wet surface in daytime.
