A Shape-based 3D object retrieval and pose estimation scheme for the mobile environment (모바일 기반의 3 차원 객체 검색과 자세 추정을 위한 외형 기반의 인덱스 구축 및 검색 기법)

  • 3 차원 객체 검색 및 자세 추정 기법은 의료, 보안 등의 다양한 산업 영역에서 매우 중요한 이슈 중 하나로써 연구되고 있다. 정확한 객체 검색 및 자세 추정을 위해서는 객체의 가능한 모든 영상 정보를 사용하여야 하기 때문에 많은 연산시간이 걸리게 되고, 특히 객체의 정확한 자세를 추정하기 위해서는 높은 CPU 의 성능과 큰 메모리 공간을 필요로 한다. 이러한 제약으로 인해, 3 차원 객체 검색 및 자세 추정은 상대적으로 하드웨어의 성능이 낮은 모바일 장치에서 실행되기 어려웠다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 모바일 장치에서도 효과적으로 객체 검색 및 자세 추정이 가능하도록 하기 위한 클라이언트-서버 환경에서의 객체의 외형 기반 인덱스 구축 및 검색 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법의 주요 특징은 i) 모바일 장치의 하드웨어 환경을 고려하여 비교적 적은 수의 객체의 영상을 바탕으로 한 객체 검색 및 후보 자세 예측과 ii) 모바일 장치에서의 검색 결과와 많은 수의 객체 영상을 기반으로 한 서버에서의 정확한 자세 추정이다. 실험 결과에서는 제안된 기법들을 통해, 빠른 시간 내에 정확한 객체 검색 및 자세 추정이 가능함을 보였다.

Selection of Plant Species for Phytoremediation of Heavy Metal (As and Cd) Contaminated Soil using Hydroponic Culture (수경재배에 의한 중금속 (As 및 Cd) 오염토양의 식물상 복원공법 적용 식물종 선별)

  • Phytoremediation presents a low-carbon and eco-friendly solution for heavy metal-contaminated soils, which pose great health and environmental risks to humans and ecosystems. A hydroponic culture was used to quantitatively assess the phytoremediation potential of plant species to remediate As or Cd-contaminated soil in field application. This study examined the growth, uptake, and distribution of Cd in the roots and shoots of Phalaris arundinacea and Brassica juncea in hydroponic conditions with Cd concentrations ranging from 0 to 20 mg/L for 10 days. Additionally, Aster koraiensis and Pteris multifida were cultivated in hydroponic conditions containing As concentrations ranging from 0 to 40 mg/L for 10 days. The concentrations of Cd in the above-ground part and root tissues of P. arundinacea and B. juncea reached a maximum of 147.7 and 1926.7 mg/kg-D.W.(Dry Weight), and 351.6 and 11305.5 mg/kg-D.W., respectively. Bioconcentration factor (BCF) for P. arundinacea and B. juncea were 68.9 and 122.3, respectively. Both species exhibited a translocation factor (TF) of less than 0.1, indicating their eligibility for phytostabilization. Aster koraiensis exhibited significant As accumulation of 155.1 and 1306.7 mg/kg D.W. in the above-ground part and root, respectively. However, this accumulation resulted with substantial weight loss and the manifestation of toxic symptoms. P. multifida exhibited higher accumulation of As (345.1 mg/kg-D.W.) in the fronds than in the roots (255.4 mg/kg-D.W.), corresponding to BCF values of 18.6 and 7.6, respectively, and a TF greater than 1.2. A TF value greater than 1.0 indicates that P. multifida is a viable option for phytoextraction.

Estimation of Manhattan Coordinate System using Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱 신경망 기반 맨하탄 좌표계 추정)

  • In this paper, we propose a system which estimates Manhattan coordinate systems for urban scene images using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Estimating the Manhattan coordinate system from an image under the Manhattan world assumption is the basis for solving computer graphics and vision problems such as image adjustment and 3D scene reconstruction. We construct a CNN that estimates Manhattan coordinate systems based on GoogLeNet [1]. To train the CNN, we collect about 155,000 images under the Manhattan world assumption by using the Google Street View APIs and calculate Manhattan coordinate systems using existing calibration methods to generate dataset. In contrast to PoseNet [2] that trains per-scene CNNs, our method learns from images under the Manhattan world assumption and thus estimates Manhattan coordinate systems for new images that have not been learned. Experimental results show that our method estimates Manhattan coordinate systems with the median error of $3.157^{\circ}$ for the Google Street View images of non-trained scenes, as test set. In addition, compared to an existing calibration method [3], the proposed method shows lower intermediate errors for the test set.

  • The interest of version management is increasing in electronic commerce requiring data mining and documents processing system related to digital governmentapplications. In this paper, we define a change set that is to manage historicalinformation and to maintain XML documents during a long period of time and propose several storage policies of XML documents using a change set. A change set includes a change oper-ation set and temporal dimensions and a change operation set is composed with schema change operations and data change operations. We pro-pose three storage policies using a change set. Three storage policies are (1) storing all the change sets, (2) storing the change sets and the versions periodically. (3) storing the aggregation of change sets and the versions at a point of proper time. Also, we compare the performance between the existing storage policy and the proposed storage policies. Though the performance evaluation, we show that the method to store the aggregation of change sets and the versions at a point of proper time outperforms others.

A Residual Ionospheric Error Model for Single Frequency GNSS Users in the Korean Region (한국지역에서의 단일주파수 GNSS 사용자를 위한 전리층 잔류 오차 모델 개발)

  • Ionosphere, one of the largest error sources, can pose potentially harmful threat to single-frequency GNSS (global navigation satellite system) user even after applying ionospheric corrections to their GNSS measurements. To quantitatively assess ionospheric impacts on the satellite navigation-based applications using simulation, the standard deviation of residual ionospheric errors is needed. Thus, in this paper, we determine conservative statistical quantity that covers typical residual ionospheric errors for nominal days. Extensive data-processing computes TEC (total electron content) estimates from GNSS measurements collected from the Korean reference station networks. We use Klobuchar model as a correction to calculate residual ionospheric errors from TEC (total electron content) estimate. Finally, an exponential delay model for residual ionospheric errors is presented as a function of local time and satellite elevation angle.

  • Recently, We are carrying out a policy of physical distancing of at least 1m from each other to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 disease in public places. In this paper, we propose a method for measuring distances between people in real time and an automation system that recognizes objects that are within 1 meter of each other from stereo images acquired by drones or CCTVs according to the estimated distance. A problem with existing methods used to estimate distances between multiple objects is that they do not obtain three-dimensional information of objects using only one CCTV. his is because three-dimensional information is necessary to measure distances between people when they are right next to each other or overlap in two dimensional image. Furthermore, they use only the Bounding Box information to obtain the exact coordinates of human existence. Therefore, in this paper, to obtain the exact two-dimensional coordinate value in which a person exists, we extract a person's key point to detect the location, convert it to a three-dimensional coordinate value using Stereo Vision and Camera Calibration, and estimate the Euclidean distance between people. As a result of performing an experiment for estimating the accuracy of 3D coordinates and the distance between objects (persons), the average error within 0.098m was shown in the estimation of the distance between multiple people within 1m.

A Study on the Fabrication of the 4 Port In-Phase High Power Combiner (4포트 동위상 고출력 전력결합기의 구현에 관한 연구)

  • The broadband high power 3-way combiner was designed and fabricated for the digital TV repeater. To achieve increase of the bandwidth and the high power capability, Wilkinson type power divider was adopted in our research. First of all, Wilkinson type power divider of equal-split and unequal-split were combined, and the characteristics of the four port in-phase power combiner was simulated for each thickness of dielectric substrates. As the results of simulation, the power combiner fabricated by using dielectric substrate of 120 mil-thickness has the characteristics as follows: insertion loss of less than -651 dB, reflection coefficient of less than -13 dB, isolation among the output ports of less than -15 dB, and pose difference among the output ports of smiler than 13$^{\circ}$. Therefore, this power combiner was possible to improve the limit of microstrip line width due to high impedance, the problem of power loss due to interaction between strip lines in a high power combiner and narrow bandwidth simultaneously. Furthermore, making broadband and high power could be achieved since the fabricated 3-way combiner has good characteristics of insertion loss, the reflection coefficient, separation between ports, and phase difference.

Multiscale Finite Element Analysis of Needle-Punched C/SiC Composites through Subcell Modeling (서브셀 모델링을 통한 니들 펀치 C/SiC 복합재료의 멀티스케일 유한요소해석)

  • In this paper, a multi-scale finite element (FE) modeling methodology for three-dimensional (3D) needle-punched (NP) C/SiC with a complex microstructure is presented. The variations of the material properties induced by the needle-punching process and complex geometrical features could pose challenges when estimating the material behavior. For considering these features of composites, a 3D microscopic FE approach is introduced based on micro-CT technology to produce a 3D high fidelity FE model. The image processing techniques of micro-CT are utilized to generate discrete-gray images and reconstruct the high fidelity model. Furthermore, a subcell modeling technique is developed for the 3D NP C/SiC based on the high fidelity FE model to expand to the macro-scale structural problem. A numerical homogenization approach under periodic boundary conditions (PBCs) is employed to estimate the equivalent behavior of the high fidelity model and effective properties of subcell components, considering geometry continuity effects. For verification, proposed models compare excellently with experimental results for the mechanical behavior of tensile, shear, and bending under static loading conditions.

The Selection and Decision in R&D and Patents: A Hurdle Negative Binomial Approach (허들음이항모형을 이용한 기업의 혁신선택과 특허성과의 결정요인에 관한 연구)

  • There have been various researches on the relationship between a company's R&D investment and the outcome from innovation. However, these studies failed to effectively analyze the decision-making process followed by companies in relation to knowledge production. Especially, in analyzing the patent of companies, the Poisson model has been commonly used, but its limitations have been pointed out. In recent years, many studies have adopted negative binomial models, but they still pose limitations in analyzing the selection process. This paper proposed a hurdle negative binomial model to effectively reflect the company's decision embedded within patent information and conduct an empirical analysis on a survey of businesses' activities. In particular, the study analyzed the selection process of companies in determining the number of patents. As a result of estimation, the presence of over-dispersion was identified. In addition, the Wald-test confirmed that setting up of hurdles was valid, and there was a difference between the results of hurdle models and those of general negative binomial settings.

Real-time Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) for Vision-based Autonomous Navigation (영상기반 자동항법을 위한 실시간 위치인식 및 지도작성)

  • In this paper, we propose monocular visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) in the large-scale environment. The proposed method continuously computes the current 6-DoF camera pose and 3D landmarks position from video input. The proposed method successfully builds consistent maps from challenging outdoor sequences using a monocular camera as the only sensor. By using a binary descriptor and metric-topological mapping, the system demonstrates real-time performance on a large-scale outdoor dataset without utilizing GPUs or reducing input image size. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on various challenging video sequences.
