  • Currently, Stream flow analysis has been accomplished by one or two dimensional equations and was applied by simple momentum equations and fixed energy conservations which contain many reach uppermost limit. In this study, FLOW-3D using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) was applied to stream flow analysis which can solve three dimensional RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation) control equation to find out physical behavior and the effect of hydraulic structures. Numerical simulation accomplished those results was compared by using turbulence models such as $k-\varepsilon$, RNG(Renomalized Group Theory) $k-\varepsilon$ and LES(Large Eddy Simulation). Numerical analysis results have been illustrated by the turbulence energy effects, velocity of flow, water level pressure and eddy flows around the side overflow type structures at Jangwall bridge in urban stream.

장대 터널 내 구난역의 열차 화재 시 제연을 위한 1D-3D 연계 해석 (The 1D-3D Simulation for Smoke Ventilation in a Rescue Station of a Railroad Tunnel under the Fire)

  • In the present study a 1D-3D numerical simulation was performed to analyze the fire safety in a rescue station of a long railroad tunnel equipped with a mechanical ventilation. The behavior of hot air was studied for the emergency operation mode of ventilation system in case of fire in the rescue station. The 1D simulation was carried out for entire tunnel region. Detailed 3D CFD simulation was performed for the rescue station area in the central region of the tunnel by using the result of the 1D simulation as the boundary condition of the 3D simulation. Various type of cross passage installation were evaluated for the prevention of smoke diffusion to suggest the optimized interval of the cross passages in the rescue tunnel.

  • In order to figure out the physical meaning of 3-D angular flow index for in-cylinder bulk motion, CFD analysis for the swirl and tumble steady flow test rig were made using commercial package STAR-CD. Computer simulations and rig tests on some kinds of induced flow conditions were carried out. Finally, based on the comparison between the simulated results and measured results, the physical meaning of 3-D angular flow index $|\longrightarrow_{N_B}|$, $\beta$ composed of swirl and tumble coefficients measured by steady flow test rig was described.

  • Fully three-dimensional Large Eddy Simulation calculations of the flow past 2D cavity are conducted to study the purging of neutrally buoyant or dense miscible contaminants introduced instantaneously inside the cavity. The length to depth ratio(L/D) is 2 and Reynolds number based on the depth is 3,360. Fully developed turbulent inflow are fed at the inlet from precursor simulation of channel flow. Mean flow pattern and unsteady features are investigated based on the experimental data of Pereira and Sousa. From the study of mass exchange processes, it is found that the mechanism of removal of the contaminant is very different between the non-buoyant and buoyant cases. In the buoyant case, internal wave motion which interacts with a strong cavity vortex is dominant in the ejection mechanism of the contaminants.

천연가스 배관 곡관부에서의 피그 동적 거동 해석 (Analysis of PIG Dynamics through Curved Section in Natural Gas Pipeline)

  • This paper presents simple models for flow and the PIG dynamics when it passes through a $90^{\circ}$ curved section of pipeline. The simulation has been done with two different operational boundary conditions. The solution fur non-linear hyperbolic partial equations for flow is given by using MOC. The Runge-Kuta method is used to solve the initial condition equation fur flow and the PIG dynamics equation. The simulation results show that the proposed model and solution can be used fur estimating the PIG dynamics when the pig runs in the pipeline including curved section. In this paper, dynamic modeling and its analysis for the PIG flow through $90^{\circ}$ curved pipe with compressible and unsteady flow are studied. The PIG dynamics model is derived by using Lagrange equation under assumption that it passes through 3 different sections in the curved pipeline such that it moves into, inside and out of the curved section. The downstream and up stream flow dynamics including the curved sections are solved using MOC. The effectiveness of the derived mathematical models is estimated by simulation results fur a low pressure natural gas pipeline including downward and upward curved sections. The simulation results show that the proposed model and solution can be used for estimating the PIG dynamics when we pig the pipeline including curved section.

전주천 상류부의 서식처 적합도 지수 및 생태유량 산정 (Estimation of Ecological Flow and Habitat Suitability Index at Jeonju-Cheon Upstream)

  • 본 연구에서는 유량점증방법론에 입각하여 물리 서식처 모의 시스템의 기반을 둔 2차원 수리 및 서식처 모의인 River2D를 적용하였다. 대상 지점은 전주천 상류부이며, 수리모의 결과에 대한 비교는 갈수량 조건에서 검정된 HEC-RAS 수리모의 결과를 바탕으로 River2D와 유속, 수심 모의 결과를 비교, 평가하였다. 그 결과 유속의 RMSE는 0.18, NSE는 0.71, 결정계수는 0.78이고, 수심의 RMSE는 0.02, NSE는 0.71, 결정계수는 0.73으로 수리모의 결과가 실측치에 잘 반영되는 것으로 평가된다. 서식처 적합도 지수를 구축하기 위해 선정한 대표 어종은 10년간 어류 모니터링을 통하여 가장 출현빈도가 높은 피라미, 쉬리 어종에 대하여 선정하였다. 또한 평수량, 조건에서의 서식처 적합도 지수를 바탕으로 가중가용면적-유량 관계곡선을 산출하였으며, 한강 및 금강 수계에서 적합도 지수를 구축한 강형식(2010)의 지수를 가지고 모의한 결과와 비교, 평가하였다. 생태유량 산정 결과 피라미는 $1.5{\sim}2.0m^3/s$ 쉬리는 $1.8{\sim}2.0m^3/s$으로 산정되었다. 대상유역의 수질, 하도 구성, 생물 다양성 등이 매우 양호한 생태이고, 모의 결과 값을 유황분석과 비교해볼 때, 산정된 어류별 생태유량은 전주천 상류부에 적합한 것으로 평가된다.

수중익 주위의 2차원 비정상 공동 현상 해석 (Numerical Simulation of Unsteady Cavitating Flow Around 2D Hydrofoil)

  • Due to the difficulty raised from the coupling of cavitation modeling with turbulent flow, numerical simulation for two phase flow remains one of the challenging issues in the society. This research focuses on the development of numerical code to deal with incompressible two phase flow around 2D hydrofoil by combing the cavitation model suggested by Kunz et al. with $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. The simulation results are compared to experimental data to verify the validity of the developed code. Also, the comparison of the calculation results is made with LES results to evaluate the capability of $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. The calculation results show very good agreement with experimental observations even though this code can not grasp the small scaled bubbles in the calculation wheres LES can hold the real physics. This code will be extended to 3D compressible two phase flow for the study on the fluid dynamics in the inducers and impellers.

Large eddy simulation of a square cylinder flow: Modelling of inflow turbulence

  • The present study aims to generate turbulent inflow data to more accurately represent the turbulent flow around a square cylinder when the inflow turbulence level is significant. The modified random flow generation (RFG) technique in conjunction with a previously developed LES code is successfully adopted into a finite element based fluid flow solver to generate the required inflow turbulence boundary conditions for the three-dimensional (3-D) LES computations of transitional turbulent flow around a square cylinder at Reynolds number of 22,000. The near wall region is modelled without using wall approximate conditions and a wall damping coefficient is introduced into the calculation of sub-grid length scale in the boundary layer of the cylinder wall. The numerical results obtained from simulations are compared with each other and with the experimental data for different inflow turbulence boundary conditions in order to discuss the issues such as the synthetic inflow turbulence effects on the 3-D transitional flow behaviour in the near wake and the free shear layer, the basic mechanism by which stream turbulence interacts with the mean flow over the cylinder body and the prediction of integral flow parameters. The comparison among the LES results with and without inflow turbulence and the experimental data emphasizes that the turbulent inflow data generated by the present RFG technique for the LES computation can be a viable approach in accurately predicting the effects of inflow turbulence on the near wake turbulent flow characteristics around a bluff body.

FLOW-$3D^{(R)}$를 이용한 항주파 수치모의 (Numerical Simulation of Ship-induced Wave Using FLOW-$3D^{(R)}$)

  • 대표적인 상용 CFD 코드 중 하나인 FLOW-$3D^{(R)}$에 포함된 강체에 대한 6-자유도 운동을 적용한 음해법의 GMO 방법을 이용하여 항주파의 재현 가능성을 살펴보았다. 모델에 의한 항주파의 형상 재현시 depth Froude number에 따른 수평 파형이 잘 재현되었으며, 선박의 직선항로 항행시 일정한 수심인 경우와 실제 수심인 경우를 비교함으로써 모델이 수심에 따른 파형의 변화를 잘 재현함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 모델에 의해 실제 수심조건에서 두 척의 선박이 교차 진행할 경우와 선박이 곡선항로를 항행할 경우에 대한 항주파를 잘 재현할 수 있음을 보였다. 따라서, FLOW-$3D^{(R)}$를 이용하여 항주파를 수치모의할 경우 관측을 통한 모델의 검 보정을 통해 항로와 항구에서의 항주파를 보다 정확하게 예측할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

교각이 설치된 월류형 여수로에서의 흐름에 대한 수치모의 (A Numerical Simulations on the Flow over Ogee Spillway with Pier)

  • 본 연구에서는 교각이 설치된 미공병단의 Waterways Experiment Station (WES)의 표준 월류형 여수로에 대한 동수역학적인 흐름거동을 FLOW-3D를 이용하여 해석하였다. 모의 결과는 WES의 실험자료와 비교하였으며, 교각이 없는 월류형 여수로에 대한 2차원 모의결과와도 상호 비교하였다. 특히 교각이 설치된 월류형 여수로에서의 월류수맥과 압력분포에 대한 특성을 상세히 고찰하였다. 유량, 월류수맥 및 압력분포에 대한 모의결과, 부분적으로 WES의 실험결과와 차이가 발생하는 곳이 있으나, 대부분 그 경향이 일치하였다. 교각이 설치된 월류형 여수로에서의 주요 흐름거동을 정리하면, 첫째 교각이 위치하는 여수로 측면부에서의 수위에 비해 여수로 중앙부에서의 수위가 높고, 둘째 실제수두가 여수로의 설계수두보다 높은 경우 웨어마루 상류에서는 여수로 측면부에서 부압이 크게 발생하며 웨어마루 하류에서는 여수로 중앙부에서 부압이 크게 발생하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
