I would like to describe the contents of National Geographic Information System(NGIS), which is under constructing by stages fer improving the welfare of the people and the competitiveness of the country through the construction of spatial infra and the information-oriented land. The construction of NGIS Is a main enterprise of the 21 century Information-oriented land, also might influence on the real life of the people. Therefore, all the people in the related area such as Land surveying and the industry of Geographic Information System(GIS) should try to make the cinergy-effect and the information-oriented land by endless developing technology and improving the related systems.
The accidents which occurred between during february of 1997 to December of 2004 at the 2nd Daegu subway construction site have been classified. The accident types of injuries include accidental falls, falling objects which consist 53.4% of all accidents. This result is higher than the same types of accidents occurring at construction sites which are 46.3%. It was found that the 3.4 times more accidents are caused from safety measures and working methods than problems caused by lack of supervision. 78.0% of the accidents occurred at stations and at the ventilation area. 31.9% of the accidents occurred when the operation was near completion($81.0%{\sim}100.0%$) which means there was pressure to complete the operation to meet the set due date. In the case of 50.0% of the accidents were caused by workers with less than two month work experience. And lumbago is 6.9%, especially lumbago didn't showed before. Maybe accident should increase if not reduce a possibility of danger. In this study a literature search has been conducted for the cause of these accident types and respective suggestions are provided.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the reality of labor and capital productivity in the construction industry through an industry-level approach and to analyze the relationship between labor and capital productivity using a Cobb-Douglas production function. According to the research results, the construction industry has shown a very high capital productivity, while labor productivity has kept up a low level during the 1980s and 1990s. The reason was because of the lack of skillful construction workers and the decrease of capital. Meanwhile, the construction productivity has greatly increased since 2000 when there was no change in wages. This was because of a large inflow of low-wage foreign workers while the amount of value added has dramatically increased due to the liberalized sale price of apartment buildings. According to the analysis by the Cobb-Douglas production function, the elasticity coefficient of V/L to K/L in the construction industry had decreased from 1.1663 in the $1^{st}$ period(1971-1988) to 0.4465 in the $2^{nd}$ period(1989-1997), and to 0.1664 in the $3^{rd}$ period(1998-2003). Such a result means that the allocation of labor has gradually increased while the allocation of capital has decreased. Moreover there was a big increase in allocation of labor after 1998 due to the excessive deterioration of capital. In conclusion, in order to raise the construction productivity and to avoid labor-intensive production methods, investment for capital should be more increased. In particular, new machinery and equipment that can actually substitute human labor in construction sites should be more developed and applied to construction sites.

The 1st and 2nd tension forces of the PSSC(Prestressed Steel and Concrete) grider constructed with commercial rolling beams and concrete are optimally designed. The design variables are the 1st and 2nd tension forces due to multi-step prestressing and live load. The objective function is set to the maximum live load. Design conditions are allowable stresses at the top and bottom of slab, beam and infilled concrete due at the several construction stages. A Matlab based optimization program is developed. The results show that the tendon position as well as concrete compression strength have significant influence on the beam strength.
The various types of geohazards like landslides resulted from civil construction (i.e. highway construction) must of analysed considering all the possible influential factor systematically. Thus, by using GIS, slope stability can be evaluated, and it can be used as a data for further detailed investigation. So the aim of this study is to present a data for decision making in selecting suitable point for remediation. For analysing slope instability, through appropriate definition and classification, landslide mechanism must be understood. In building GIS model, the selection of appropriate factors and their rating system should be made. For this, the characteristics and the mechanism of landslide have to be understood. And suitable coverage should be chosen for the model considering the slope conditions. In this study, field investigation in lst and 2nd Section, Chung-ang highway was carried out. From the field data, GIS model on slope instability was created. 5 coverages were used for it. From the result of this study, 12 unstable sections were found out and more detailed investigation is needed there.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate experimentally the strength and deformation of T-joints to improve the structural behavior of truss connection consisted in square hollow steel section. There are two-types to be changed in T-joint shape. One type is TP-series that a brace member is rotated to 45 degree, another type is TR-series that a chord member is rotated to 45 degree. The most important results obtained from the 2nd experiment on the T-joints is as follow; The yielding strength and initial stiffness of TP-series increase more than a current type(TS-series) in $0.6{\leq}{\beta}(d/D){\leq}0.7(0.85{\leq}{\beta}$'$(={\sqrt2}{\cdot}{\beta}){\leq}1.0)$.

Since its opening in 1992, Sudokwon Landfill has become a landfill in which wastes generated from more than 22 million people are treated and disposed of. Its first phase landfill was closed in 2000 and the second phase landfill is in operation since then. The Korean environmental policies on refuse have drastically evolved for the last decade or so. From merely safe containment of wastes, the utilization of them as a source for energy generation and the minimization of waste volume to be filled in landfills are in the mainstream. Keeping in pace with the new trends, several challenging projects are in their way to blossom in Sudokwon Landfill. This paper briefs some important activities in the landfill. They are (1) geotechnical issues related to the construction and maintenance of the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ Landfills and (2) landfill gas and bioreactor which are recently emerging in the market.
The purpose of this study is to construct a forecasting model involved in a diverted traffic volume of the 2nd intra-urban expressway in construction presently, in the case of the future prediction of traffic demand for the intra-urban expressway in Pusan. In this study, the model involved in a diverted traffic volume is constructed trustworthy. And the future traffic demand of intra-urban expressway by this model was forecasted 114,005 volume/daily in 1996 and 147,090 volume/daily in 2001. However, it will made a study more and more concretely for practicality and limitation as well as construction of the forecasting model considered an intrinsic problem of an observational error and necessity of survey for much more socio-economic data, the traffic volume on all orad and OD pairs in Pusan.
This study deals with construction contract bid-rigging by Japanese contractors who monopolized the construction market of the Korean Peninsula during the Japanese colonial rule, and investigates the abuses of the contract bid-rigging. First of all, construction contract bid-rigging in Korea was triggered by Japanese construction contractors and contract brokers, who had savored the benefits of bidrigging in Japan and had repeated the bid-rigging in Korea since 1903. Second, the agency played a significant role to mediate construction contractors, and existed throughout the Japanese colonial rule on the Korean Peninsula with changing their names. Most of them were engaged in major contract bid-rigging scandals. Among them was Construction Association of Korea, which existed for over 13 years. The agencies had took part in governmental services since the mid-1930s when Japan exploited Korean people during wartime, and focused on sweating human resources for the constructions. Third, one of the biggest construction bid-rigging scandals during the Japanese colonial rule was "the 1st and 2nd scandal on Daegu construction contract bid-rigging." Indeed, the second scandal paved the way for the serial scandals: "Kyeongseong construction contract bid-rigging scandal", "Busan construction contract bid-rigging scandal", and other cases throughout the nation. Fourth, along with the contract bid-rigging cases related to the Japanese Government-General of Korea and local authorities, bid-riggings firmly took rooted in local governments' farmland reclamation projects in the 1920s and the poor relief services in the 1930s. The "bid-rigging charges" forced contractors to compensate their losses with exploiting material costs and labor costs, generating serious problems. The construction contract bid-rigging enabled Japan to monopolize the construction industry and to sweat farmers on the Korean Peninsula. Against this backdrop, contract bid-rigging by Japanese construction contractors during the its colonization made Korean contractors ruled out, and helped Japanese monopolize the industry. A large amount of bid-rigging charges drove Japanese contractors to do fraudulent work with cheap materials and to exploit Korean labor force.

This study focuses(selected) on garden facilities of designer gardens created at the 1st and 2nd Seoul Garden Shows and examined installed facilities at each designer garden by categorization according to type, material and functions. The study observed problems occurring from maintenance of garden facilities as time passes by and collected basic data to develop maintenance guideline aiming to make contribution to further spreading and promotion of high quality garden culture. This study examined all gardens created at 1st and 2nd Seoul Garden shows in 2015 and 2016. There were 18 gardens built in 2015 and 16 in 2015.The study looked at responsible entities for maintenance of facilities and examined maintenance system for managing these gardens. Garden facilities of the study were categorized into paving, facility for rest, playground, water facility, environmental sculpture and planting media facility according to categorization by landscape design standards and construction guidelines. Target gardens of this study are maintained mostly by citizen gardeners who are passionately carrying out maintenance work while communicating with designers. However, these citizen gardeners lack technical knowledge to manage various facilities. Also, maintenance manuals submitted by garden designers do not offer sufficient details on facility maintenance which calls for professional maintenance and clear instructions on facilities from early phase of design.
