  • The research on the actual condition of the oriental health related industry has been made with defining it's phase. As a result, I have come to develope korean-type health model, which can solve the problems derived from the past herb medicine industry. The prospects and roles of the oriental health related industries are as follows: The phase adjustment of the oriental health related industry. The problems of modern medical science happens in the beginning of 21st century, the importance of oriental health improvement in the field of health business is now being on the rise. therefore it is necessary to readjust the present status of the oriental medicine and to take it into health area. Should the responsible institutes regarded on oriental medicine make clear prescription in terms of oriental health industry's role and limitation, they could contribute health circumstance in the 21st century. This is because oriental health related industry can be utiliged in not only protective area and curable area. The present situation of the oriental health related industry. The successive role of these industry is depended on the fact that the characteristics of the oriental medicine should adjust to the real society with the systematic management. In the 21C, oriental health industry will certainly be vitalized owing to the social and periodical request especially in the area of oriental medical industry, oriental health drink industry, oriental health mind exercise industry, oriental health leasure industry and oriental health complex management industry. Among these areas, it is the oriental health complex amagement industry that will be the limestone of prosperity of the oriental health industry in 21C. Proposal for the social contribution of the oriental health related industry in the 21C. To achive the ultimate role of the oriental health industry in the 21c, first we should know how to use the oriental medicine. Second We should make an effort to revitalize the oriental health industry. A Comparative Study of Scientific Literacy and Core Competence Discourses as Rationales for the 21st Century Science Curriculum Reform (21세기 과학 교육과정 개혁 논리로서의 과학적 소양 및 핵심 역량 담론 비교 연구)

  • The two most influential rationales for the 21st century science curriculum reform can be said to be core competence and scientific literacy. However, the relationship between the two has not been scrutinized but remained speculative - and this has made the harmonization of the general guideline and subject-matter curriculum difficult in Korean national curriculum system. This study compares the two discourses to derive implications for future science curriculum development. This study took a literature research approach. In chapter II, national curriculum or standards, position papers, and research articles were reviewed to delineate the historical development of the discourses. In chapter III and IV, the intersections of those two discourses are delineated. In chapter III, the commonalities of the two discourses are explicated with regard to crisis rhetoric, multi-faceted meanings (individual, community, and global aspects), organization of subject-matter content and teaching and learning method, and the role of high-stake exams. In chapter IV, their respective strengths and weaknesses are juxtaposed. In chapter V, it is suggested that understanding scientific literacy and core competence discourses to have a family resemblance as 21st century science curriculum reform rationale, after Wittgenstein and Kuhn. Finally, the ways to resolve the conflict between the two ideas from the general guideline and subject-matter curriculum over crisis rhetoric were explored.

  • Since 1985, the growth rate of population of the world is over that of the food production. The cultivated land and the grain production rate are decreasing every year. Therefore, the most serious crisis which we will meet in the 21st century will be food shortage. In order to solve this desperate shortage of food, besides trying to produce more food, the technology of post-harvest, food processing, and food packaging should be developed to reduce and make the best use of the amount of the already produced agricultural products for which a lots of cost and labors were invested, but are being wasted during food distribution channel due to their undeveloped technology.

Developing Prospectives for Korean Railroad System in the 21st Century (21세기 한국철도의 발전전망)

  • On 16Dec. 1999, It was 100 years since the opening the first railroad section of 33.2km on Sep. 1899, Korea High Speed Railroad had a successful trial run of 200km/h on test track section. And the test speed 300km/h was achieved an 28 June 2000 during continuous commissioning. In the 21st century, the High Speed Railroad will be opened commercially in Korea and will contribute to technical development. Now, it is necessary to re-evaluate the role of railroad in modern society and to activate the railroad system. Ultimately, the competitive power of nation will be strengthened with energy saving, reduction of pollution and transportation cost. It conclusion the railroad system have to be expaned about 50% of total transportation to make preparations for reopening of Eurasia silk route through KyungEu railroad connection.
