This paper presents the communication performance for the radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna in the wearable device measuring bio signal (temperature, blood pressure, pulse etc.) of human body. The operational frequency is 2.4 - 2.5 GHz, which covers Bluetooth communication bandwidth. The maximum gain of the antennas is 1.96 dBi. The proposed antenna is efficiently transmitting and receiving signal by generating two opposite beam directions using two RF switches (PIN diode). Also, we investigated how radiation pattern changes according to three angles ($30^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $150^{\circ}$) of Top Loading. In this paper, we measured and compared the SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and BER (Bit Error Rate) performances of the proposed antennas in the condition between an ideal environment of anechoic chamber and smart house existing practical electromagnetic interferences (Universal Software Radio Peripheral, USRP). Throughout the comparing the results of the measurement of two cases, we found that the SNR is degraded over 5dB in average and BER is increased over ten times in maximum, therefore, it is confirmed that the error rate of receiving signal is increased. The measured results of SNR and BER value in this paper able to expect the performance degrading by the interference from the electromagnetic devices.
The tracking of current location of residents is an essential requirement for context-aware service of smart houses. This paper presents a wireless sensor network system which could detect location transition such as entrance and exit to a room and also identify the user who passed the room, without duty of wearing any sort of tag. We designed new sensor node to solve the problem of short operation lifetime of previous work[1] which has two pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensors and an ultrasonic sensor, as well as a 2.4 GHz radio frequency wireless transceiver. The proposed user identification method is to discriminate a person based on his/her height by using an ultrasonic sensor. The detection idea of entering/exiting behavior is based on order of triggering of two PIR sensors. The topology of the developed wireless sensor network system is simple star structure in which each sensor node is connected to one sink node directly. We evaluated the proposed sensing system with a set of experiments for three subjects in a model house. The experimental result shows that the averaged recognition rate of user identification is 81.3% for three persons. and perfect entering/exiting behavior detection performance.
In this study, the applicability of the microseismic monitoring system based on the underground mine communication system has been verified by operation test in the domestic underground mine. The microseismic data consists of wavelet data and meta-data for mine safety management, and both data should be transferred, stored, analyzed and managed with proper method according to the purpose and size of each data. In order to select the optimal communication system for the microseismic monitoring system considering the underground environment as well as properties of data, various types of communication system have been tested and compared during operation test after installing the optical cable communication system, 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz wireless communication system through the underground mine tunnel and overground area of the test site. The integrated microseismic monitoring software, which was developed to secure the stability of data management and ease of use, has been updated according to findings from operation test. Through the operation test of the microseismic monitoring system including the communication system and the monitoring software, the technical basis was established corresponding to various requirements of the domestic mine for adoption of the microseismic monitoring system.

[ $Epoxy/BaTiO_3$ ] composite embedded capacitor films (ECFs) were newly designed fur high dielectric constant and low tolerance (less than ${\pm}15\%$) embedded capacitor fabrication for organic substrates. In terms of material formulation, ECFs are composed of specially formulated epoxy resin and latent curing agent, and in terms of coating process, a comma roll coating method is used for uniform film thickness in large area. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3\;&\;SrTiO_3$ composite ECF is measured with MIM capacitor at 100 kHz using LCR meter. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3$ ECF is bigger than that of $SrTiO_3$ ECF, and it is due to difference of permittivity of $BaTiO_3\;and\;SrTiO_3$ particles. Dielectric constant of $BaTiO_3\;&\;SrTiO_3$ ECF in high frequency range $(0.5\~10GHz)$ is measured using cavity resonance method. In order to estimate dielectric constant, the reflection coefficient is measured with a network analyzer. Dielectric constant is calculated by observing the frequencies of the resonant cavity modes. About both powders, calculated dielectric constants in this frequency range are about 3/4 of the dielectric constants at 1 MHz. This difference is due to the decrease of the dielectric constant of epoxy matrix. For $BaTiO_3$ ECF, there is the dielectric relaxation at $5\~9GHz$. It is due to changing of polarization mode of $BaTiO_3$ powder. In the case of $SrTiO_3$ ECF, there is no relaxation up to 10GHz. Alternative material for embedded capacitor fabrication is $epoxy/BaTiO_3$ composite embedded capacitor paste (ECP). It uses similar materials formulation like ECF and a screen printing method for film coating. The screen printing method has the advantage of forming capacitor partially in desired part. But the screen printing makes surface irregularity during mask peel-off, Surface flatness is significantly improved by adding some additives and by applying pressure during curing. As a result, dielectric layer with improved thickness uniformity is successfully demonstrated. Using $epoxy/BaTiO_3$ composite ECP, dielectric constant of 63 and specific capacitance of 5.1nF/cm2 were achieved.
4H-SIC(silicon carbide) MESFET large signal model was studied using modified Materka-Kacprzak large signal MESFET model. 4H-SiC MESFET device simulation have been conducted by Silvaco's 2D device simulator, ATLAS. The result is modeled using modified Materka large signal model. simulation and modeling results are -8V pinch off voltage, under $V_{GS=0V}$, $V_{DS=25V}$ conditions, $I_{DSS=270㎃}$mm, $G_{m=45㎳}$mm were obtained. Through the power simulation 2GHz, at the bias of $V_{GS=-4V}$ and $V_{DS=25V}$, 10dB Gain, 34dBm(1dB compression point)output power, 7.6W/mm power density, 37% PAE(power added efficiency) were obtained.d.d.d.

(Pb$\_$0.4/Ca$\_$0.6/)(Fe$\_$1/2/Nb$\_$1/2/)O$_3$ system was modified by 10 mol% Pb(Zn$\_$1/2/W$\_$1/2/)O$_3$ addition and their sinterability and microwave properties were investigated as a function of the amount of flux (0.975PbO-0.025SnO$_2$). With increasing flux content, single perovskite phase was maintained up to 3 wt% flux addition and further addition led to the presence of Pb-rich second phase which was confirmed by EDS analysis. The apparent densities of PCFN-PZW specimen increased and showed maximum values at 2.5 wt% flux addition for the Ts=1000$^{\circ}C$ and 2.0wt% flux addition for the Ts=1050$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The dielectric constant and Q$.$f values strongly depended on the variation of density and microstructure, where the optimum values of $\varepsilon$$\_$r/ = 91.95, Q$.$f = 5938GHz, TCF = +8.15ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained for the 2.5wt% flux added PCFN-PZW specimen sintered at 1000$^{\circ}C$ for 4h.
Y-type hexagonal ferrites$(Ba_{2}Me_{2}Fe_{12}O_{22}:Me=transition metal)$ have promising electromagnetic properties in GHz range. Co and Zn are good candidates for the transition metal. To understand their role on the properties, it is thus necessary to study the ion(s) distribution in that complex Y-type hexagonal ferrite structure. The authors report Mossbauer spectroscopic results from very reliable samples, which has been extensively characterized by chemical analysis, Rietveld analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns, and magnetic property measurements. Analyzing two samples, $Co_{2}Y$ and $Co_{1.6}Zn_{0.4}Y$, conclusions are made as follow: (1) Co ions prefer the tetrahedral interstitial sites in the S-block $(6c_{IV})$ and the octahedral sites $(18h_{VI})$ at the interface of S- and T-block. (2) Partial substitution of Co with Zn (within the experimental range) does not disturb the Fe distribution.
Unreported dielectrics based on the binary system of MgO-SiO$_2$ were investigated as potential candidates for microwave dielectric applications, particularly those demanding a high fired density and high quality factors. Extensive dielectric compositions having different molar ratios of MgO to SiO$_2$, such as 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1, were prepared by conventional solid state reactions between MgO and SiO$_2$. 1 mol% of V$_2$O$_5$ was added to aid sintering for improved densification. The dielectric compositions were found to consist of two distinguishable phases of Mg$_2$SiO$_4$ and MgO beyond the 2:1 compositional ratio, which determined the final physical and dielectric properties of the corresponding composite samples. The increase of the ratio of MgO to SiO$_2$ tended to improve fired density and quality factor (Q) without increasing grain size. As a promising composition, the 5MgO.SiO$_2$ sample sintered at 1400 $^{\circ}C$ exhibited a low dielectric constant of 7.9 and a high Q $\times$ f (frequency) value of $\sim$99,600 at 13.7 GHz.

Microwave dielectric properties of $Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_3-CaTiO_3$ ceramic systems were investigated with calcination temperatures and amounts of $CaTiO_3$ in the range of 0.2 to 0.4mol. $Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_3$ ceramics having orthorhombic crystal structure could be synthesized at $750^{\circ}C$ and sintered well at $1250^{\circ}C$. They showed the dielectric constant of 26, quality factor($Q{\times}f_o$) of 13,000 and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency(${\tau}_f$) of $-49{\pm}2ppm/^{\circ}C$ With adding the $CaTiO_3$ amount the dielectric constant and ${\tau}_f$ increased due to the solute of $CaTiO_3$ but the quality factor decreased. The 0.7$Ca(Li_{1/4}Nb_{3/4})O_3-0.3CaTiO_3$ ceramic showed the dielectric constant of 44, quality factor($Q{\times}f_o$) of 12,000 and ${\tau}_f$ of $-9{\pm}1ppm/^{\circ}C$.
The effects of NiO addition on the microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of ($Zr_{08}Sn_{02}$)$TiO_4$ (ZST) were investigated. With the NiO addition, a higher density of ZST ceramics than 95% of the theoretical values has been obtained in the sintering temperature range of 1400 to 150$0^{\circ}C$. Energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) analysis of sintered specimen shows the presence of second phase at grain boundaries, which is considered to be $NiTiO_3$. Dielectric constant of the specimen is found to increase linearly with density. Q-values and TC$_r$ decrease with increasing NiO content. The variation of dielectric properties with NiO content is discussed in terms of the second phase. The ZST ceramics with 0.25 wt% NiO showed ${\varepsilon}_{\gamma}$=38, Q=7000 at GHz and TC$\gamma$=-0.5 ppm/$^{\circ}C$, comparable with the values obtained by the previous investigations.
