This paper proposes a reliable 2-mode authentication framework for probabilistic key pre-distribution in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) that guarantees the safe defense against different kinds of attacks: Hello flood attacks, Wormhole attacks, Sinkhole attack, location deployment attacks, and Man in the middle attack. The mechanism storing the trust neighbor IDs reduces the dependence on the cluster head and as the result; it saves the power energy for the authentication process as well as provides peer-to-peer communication.
This case is to analyze the structure of technology convergence with social network analysis. More specifically, the convergence structure among input technologies mediated with products is analyzed with 2-mode social network analysis. Products are identified in project's goal and coded as the Korea Standard Industrial Classification. The input technologies are coded as the National Science Technology Classification. The subjects were 401 R&D projects applied to '2012 Convergence Technology Development Project for Small and Medium Businesses' promoted by Korea Technology & Information Promotion Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises. IT sectors had the structure of a particular input technology connected to many products, BT sectors also had a few input technology connected to many products but most were connected to specific products. Therefore We have realized that each convergence area had different convergence structure. There were the difference of connectivity centrality between input technologies and input technologies mediated with products. For IT sectors, the embedded S/W were the highest in both cases. For BT sectors, functional cosmetic development and fermentation technology were the highest in input technologies but fermentation technology was not the highest in input technologies mediated with products. This case defines the convergence based on the real projects and the use for managing and planing projects. Therefore, this case was to make a tool to analyze and design technology convergence projects.
In this paper, we propose an in-line mode NIDS using network processors(NPs) that achieve performance comparable to ASIC and flexibility comparable to general-purpose processors. Even if many networking applications using NPs have been proposed, we cannot find any NP applications to NIDS in the literature. The proposed NIDS supports packet payload inspection detecting attacks, as well as packet filtering and traffic metering. In particular, we separate the filtering and metering functions from the complicated and time-consuming operations of the deep packet inspection function using two-level searching scheme, thus we can improve the performance, stability, and scalability of In-line mode system. We also implement a proto-type based on a PC platform and the Agere PayloadPlus (APP) 2.5G NP solution, and present a payload inspection algorithm to apply APP NP.

In IEEE 802.11b wireless network, the access point(AP) sends beacons periodically to manage stations when they are running in low power mode. Stations contend for the transmission medium after they receive a beacon and continuously check its state until it becomes available. Thus the energy consumption of each station increases as the load of wireless network. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce energy consumption controlling virtual bitmap in wireless network with multiple stations. The problems of low power mode in IEEE 802.11b wireless interface are described and a new method to reduce energy consumption is proposed. The proposed method is simulated with the network simulator, ns2, and compared with the low power mode of the IEEE 802.11b. The result measured in terms of station's wakeup time shows some enhancement in energy consumption when multiple stations are communicating through the AP in wireless network.

This paper proposes an energy-efficient mode selection and power allocation scheme in device-to-device (D2D) communication system as an underlay coexistence with cellular networks. We analyze the energy efficiency which is defined as the summation of the energy efficiencies for all devices. The proposed scheme consists of two steps. First, we calculate the transmission power maximizing the energy efficiency for all possible modes of each device. Although the proposed power cannot maximize the system capacity, we prove that the proposed transmission power is the optimal power which maximizes the energy efficiency. In the second step, we select a mode which has the maximal energy efficiency among all possible mode combinations of the devices. Then we can jointly obtain the transmission power and the mode which can maximize the energy efficiency. The proposed scheme has the optimal performance with respect to the energy efficiency and outperforms the conventional schemes.

As Green-IT has attracted a lot of attention in recent years, many researches have been interested in reducing the energy consumption of network equipments. In this paper, we analyze the energy saving ratio and delay performance according to various traffic patterns and burst assemble algorithms in OBS network with sleeping mode. To do this, we design the traffic generators, which are based on exponential distribution and Pareto distribution, and the router model, which has the time based and length based burst assemble algorithms by using OPNET modeler. Through OPNET simulator, we evaluate the energy saving performance in terms of the sleeping time, the number of transitions and packet delay.
This paper identifies core research topics and their relationships by deriving the research topic networks in the technology management field using co-word analysis. Contrary to the conventional approach in which undirected networks are constructed based on normalized co-occurrence frequency, this study analyzes directed networks of keywords by employing the confidence index of association rule mining for pairs of keywords. Author keywords included in 2,456 articles published in nine international journals of technology management in 2011~2014 are extracted and categorized into three types: THEME, METHOD, and FIELD. One-mode networks for each type of keywords are constructed to identify core research keywords and their interrelationships with each type. We then derive the two-mode networks composed of different two types of keywords, THEME-METHOD and THEME-FIELD, to explore which methods or fields are frequently employed or studied for each theme. The findings of this study are expected to be fruitfully referred for researchers in the field of technology management to grasp research trends and set the future research directions.
Recently, due to the rising incidence of disasters in the nation, there has been a growing interest in the relevance and role of science and technology in solving disaster and safety related issues. In addition, the necessities of securing the human rights of all citizens in disaster risk reduction, identifying fields of technology development for effective disaster response, and improving the efficiency of R&D investment for disaster and safety are becoming more important as the different types of disasters and stages of disaster and safety management process have been considered. In this study, we analyzed bipartite or two-mode networks constructed from an expert survey dataset of technology development for disaster and safety management. The results reveal that earthquake and fire are the two disasters affecting an individual and society at large and demonstrate that AI and big data analytics are effective supports in managing disaster and safety. We believe that such a network analytic approach can be used to explore some important implications exist for the national science and technology effort and successful disaster and safety management practices in Korea.

In IEEE 802.11b wireless network, stations synchronize themselves to the beacons periodically sent by the access point(AP) when they are running in low power mode. In case of missing beacon due to noise or traffic from neighboring wireless network stations must be awake until they get the next beacon, which causes energy consumption in stations. In this paper, we propose a scheme searching next beacon consuming little energy. The problems of missing beacon in low power mode of IEEE 802.11b wireless interface are described and a new method to reduce energy consumption is proposed. The proposed method is simulated with the network simulator, ns2, and compared with the low power mode of the IEEE 802.11b. The result measured in terms of station's wakeup time shows some enhancement in energy consumption when some errors occur in receiving frames.

As wireless network technology has advanced, demands for multimedia contents through mobile environment have tendered to upward. Since network situation is changing every moment and types of user terminals are diverse, it is difficult for a content provider to consider network situation and type of user terminal to provide multimedia contents. As one solution, transcoding techniques have been proposed, but those have much complexity. In this paper, in order to reduce computational complexity, we propose a fast mode decision using input modes, motion vectors, and residual energies which are obtained from input bitstream for 2:1 down-scaling spatial transcoding application. The proposed method reduces processing time in mode decision by restricting possible mode types based on input information. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves about 2.66 times improvement in encoding time compared to the normal encoding process while the PSNR is degraded by about 0.04dB, and bit-rate is increased by 1.6%.
