  • We introduce 2[MVA] 3300[V] 7-level voltage source inverter system developed by POSCON and describe the main characteristics of inverter system i.e. PWM converter, H-bridge power module, phase shifted carrier PWM The PWM converter is a three-phase boost converter, which operates in a 4-quadrant and in a nearly unit displacement power factor. Experimental waveforms are also presented to verify the proposed method and performance of the developed system.

  • As a method to improve harmonics in the voltage source PWM inverter, 5 level stair case wave method is used. The complementary transistor inverter (CTI) bridge circuit has this characteristics. This circuit required synchronous type 3 level PWM signal. In this paper, the 3 phase PWM digital signals within about 10 modulation error of the natural sampling was caculated, and a ROM table out of it for the digital signal of the control system was made. According to this table, the digital control method was proposed, and DTI circuit operated by this method was reviewed. It was confirmed to make V/F control possible by the select modulation ratio to the frequency.

  • In this paper, a two-level switching algorithm ov the deadbeat to control PWM inverter is proposed. A modified algorithm of the deadbeat is suitable for the UPS system. Two levels in the pulse pattern are used. This scheme allows the use of higher switching frequency for a given computation time delay, which results in lower total harmonic distortion at the output. The proposed control scheme is implemented using TMS320F240 DSP for controlling on inverter.

  • 태양전지의 출력특성은 일사량, 온도와 부하에 의해 크게 변동하기 때문에 가능한 한 많은 에너지를 얻기 위해서는 태양전지의 출력을 항상 최대로 제어할 필요가 있다. 또한 가정용 부하는 교류부하인 반면에 태양전지의 출력은 직류이므로 태양광 발전 시스템에서는 인버터가 필수적이며, 단위역률을 갖는 정현파 전류 및 전압을 계통에 공급해 주어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 계통연계형 태양광 발전시스템을 승압쵸퍼와 전압형 인버터로 구성하였다. 전력비교에 따른 시비율을 변화시켜 일사량과 온도변화에 관계없이 항상 최대출력점을 추적하도록 승압쵸퍼를 제어하였고, 전압형 인버터는 위상동기를 위해서 계통전압을 검출하여 계통전압과 인버터 출력을 동상 운전하므로 고역률과 저고조파 출력으로 부하와 계통에 전력이 공급되도록 제어하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전압원 인버터의 출력전압 파형을 개선하여 PWM방식을 사용할 수 없는 중 대용량급 모터드라이버 및 UPS, STATCOM, SVC등에 적용하기 위한 새로운 3상 전압원 24-스텝 인버터를 제안한다 보조회로로서 사용한 컨버터로 리플전압을 발생시키고 이를 기존의 12-스텝 인버터에 주입하는데 한대의 링크를 사용하면 12-스텝 동작이 24-스텝으로 전환되며 보조 변압기의 1차 권선을 2N(N=1,2,3...)으로 늘리면 12M-스텝(M=2,3,4..)으로 전환된다. 본 방식의 타당성을 실험 및 시뮬레이션을 통하여 입증하였다.

  • In this paper we present a Capacitor Charging Power Supply (CCPS) using a series-resonant three-level inverter topology to improve voltage regulation and use semiconductor switches having low blocking voltage capability such as MOSFETs. This inverter can be operated with two modes, Full Power Mode (FPM) and Half Power Mode (HPM). In FPM inverter supplies the high frequency step up transformer with full DC-link voltage and in HPM with half DC-link voltage. HPM switching method will be adopted when CCPS output voltage reaches the preset target value and operates in refresh mode-charge is maintained on the capacitor. In this topology each semiconductor devices blocks a half of the DC-link voltage[2]. A 15kW, 30kV CCPS has been built and will be tested for an electric precipitator application. The CCPS operates from an input voltage of 500VDC and has a variable output voltage between 10 to 30kV and 1kHz repetition rate at 44nF capacitive load [3]. A resonant frequency of 67.9kHz was selected and a voltage regulation of $0.83\%$ has been achieved through the use of half power mode without using the forced cut off the switch current [1]. The theory of operation, circuit topology and test results are given.

Novel Single-State PWM Technique for Common-Mode Voltage Elimination in Multilevel Inverters

  • In this paper, a novel offset-based single-state pulse width modulation (PWM) method for achieving zero common-mode voltage (CMV) and reducing switching losses in multilevel inverters is presented. The specific active switching state of the zero common-mode (ZCM) voltage that approximates the reference voltage can be deduced from the switching state sequence of the reduced CMV phase disposition PWM (CMV PD PWM) method. From the reference leg voltages for the zero common-mode voltage, an N-to-2-level transformation defines a virtual two-level inverter and the corresponding nominal leg voltage references. The commutation process of the reduced CMV PD PWM method in a multilevel inverter and its outputs can be simply followed in a nominal switching time diagram for the virtual inverter. The characteristics of the reduced CMV PD PWM and the single-state PWM for zero common-mode voltage are analyzed in detail in this paper. The theoretical analysis of the proposed PWM method is verified by experimental results.

  • A cascade multilevel voltage source inverter is introduced to apply the advanced static var compensator(ASVC) for large scale power application. This cascade M-level inverter consists of (M-1)/2 single-phase full bridges. This inverter is suitable to the flexible ac transmission systems(FACTS) including SVC, series compensation and phase shifting. It can solve the problems of conventional transformer -based multipulse inverters and multilevel diode-clamped inverters. From the simulation results, the validity of ASVC with cascade multilevel inverter is shown for high power application.

  • D-STATCON using the multilevel voltage source inverters is presented for voltage regulation and reactive power compensation in distribution system. This cascade M-level inverter consists of (M-1)/2 single phase full bridge inverter(FBI). This multilevel inverter is a natural fit to the flexible ac transmission systems(FACTS) including STATCON, SVC, series compensation and phase shifting, It can solve the problems of conventional transformer-based multipulse inverters and multilevel diode-clamped inverters. From the simulation results, the superiority of D-STATCON with cascade multilevel inverter is shown for high power application.

  • Purpose: In this paper, we propose a test method for evaluating the life time of the inverter which is one of the main internal configuration systems in order to evaluate the life time of the power supply for the vehicle. Methods: The performance and failure criteria required for the development of the accelerated life test method were established and the Taguchi method was used to derive the stress factors affecting performance and reliability. Results: The major stress of the product degradation were considered to be high temperature. Conclusion: The acceleration factor was estimated through a two-level high temperature test and a test methods was designed to guarantee the accelerated life time of the inverter.
