The present study has been conducted to investigate the effect of discrete ribs and rotation on heat/mass transfer characteristics in a two-pass square duct with $90^{\circ}-rib$ turbulators. The rib turbulator has a square cross section of 1.5 mm. The rib height-to-hydraulic diameter ratio $({e/D_{h})$ is 0.056, and the rib pitch-to-rib height ratio (p/e) is 10. The gap width is the same as the rib height. The rotation number ranges from 0.0 to 0.2 while Reynolds number is fixed to 10,000. In a stationary duct, the heat/mass transfer on the surfaces with discrete ribs is enhanced because the gap flow promotes local turbulence and flow mixing near the ribbed surface. In a rotating duct, the gap flow affects differently the heat/mass transfer on leading and trailing surfaces with discrete ribs. On the leading surface of the first pass, heat/mass transfer is increased due to the gap flow. On the trailing surface of the first pass, however, heat/mass transfer is decreased because the gap flow disturbs reattachment of main flow. The phenomenon, that is, the difference of heat transfer between the leading and the trailing surfaces is distinctly presented by rotation.
Purpose : Be aware of clinical possibilities on image quality by comparison of contrast-enhanced dynamic CT and MR imaging applied of MIP technique after the experimentally induced clonorchasis infection in dogs. Materials and Method : Twenty mongrel dogs prepared in zoo-laboratory were followed up with serial CT scans and MR imaging for 13 weeks after the experimental infection in liver. Two-phase helical CT was acquired in the supine position with the following scanning parameters. After the injection of contrast material, the arterial phase was initiated using a bolus-racking method. The portal phase scan was started 15 seconds after the arterial phase scan. CT protocol was determined after single level dynamic scans. MR imaging used the CP body coil and images get a 2D image using HASTE, FLASH, TSE pulse sequence. Bile duct MR imaging were obtained in three plans. Then each image was post processed by using target MIP algorithm. Two experimentation above, as a method of evaluation, one pathologist, three radiologist and five radiological technologist were analyzed visually for evaluation of following findings, enhancement of the bile duct wall, dilatation of bile duct tip, liver parenchyma, background suppression. Results : Five dogs was died of a disease after the infection, the rest one else shows the chronic dilatation of the intrahepatic bile duct with CT and MR imaging. Contrast administration of CT shows the contrast-enhanced of the bile duct walls with live parenchyma. MR imaging calculated of CNR and CR from pulse sequence for comparative evaluation and shows the pattern of the intrahepatic bile duct, dilatation of bile duct tip using MIP technique. CNR of the clonorchiasis, HASTE was $16{\pm}0.83$, TSE $7.06{\pm}3.0$, FLASH $1.19{\pm}0.2$ and CR, HASTE was 73.3%, TSE 62.3%, FLASH 6.4%. Conclusion : CT and MR imaging is very usefulness in diagnosis of dog clonorchiasis.

[${\alpha}$]-Amylase catalyses the hydrolysis of starch, glycogen, and related poly- and oligosac-charide by random cleavage of ${\alpha}$-D-(l-4) glucan linkage. In man large amounts of amylase are secreted into the digestive tract by the salivary and exocrine pancreatic gland, minimal amount being produced also in other tissues. It has been known that ${\alpha}$-amylase exists in multiple molecular forms, isoenzyme which can be separated from each other because of difference in their physicochemical properties. By using various methods, several groups of investigator have separated the many isoenzyme in serum, saliva and pancreatic juice. Furthermore, changes of the normal serum isoenzyme pattern is diagnostically useful even when the total serum enzyme activity is noninformative, such as the clinical use of isoenzyme of serum lactate dehydrogenase. Procarboxypeptidase-A which is one of the pancreatic enzymes is also present as isoenzymes. Four forms of procarboxypeptidase-A haye been found in the bovine enzyme and three forms of the porcine enzyme. In human pancreatic juice four forms of procarboxypeptidase-A isoenzyme were found by isoelectric focusing method. Recently, the so-called isoamylase analysis was developed for the diagnostic use of amylase in pancreatic diseases. In alcohotic patients, the serum concentration of pancreatic isoamylase is subnormal and this lowered activity provides strong evidence for pancreatic exocrine insufficiency. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the variations of the isoenzyme of amylase and procarboxypeptidase-A in serum, saliva and pancreatic juice of the experimental animals. The results are as follow. 1) Three main forms of isoenzyme of amylase by isoelectric focusing were found in pancreatic juice of normal rabbit. However, many new bands were appeared in the pancreatic juice of cholic acid administered animal intravenously while the infusion of cholic acid or elastase into pancreatic duct produced the decrease of number of the fractions on the isoelectric focusing. In the case of serum isoenzyme from normal animal, two major and a few minor isoamylases were observed. By injecting alcohol intravenousely the fractions of serum isoamylase were significantly decreased and in contrary to the pattern in the pancreatic juice the infusion of cholic acid or elastase into pancreatic duct exhitited a significant decrease of the isoenzyme of amylase fractions. In saliva from normal animal three main isoamylase were produced of the administration of alcohol. 2) In the case of procarboxypeptidase-A isoenzyme, two major fractions which have isoelectric point at 6.2 and 6.4 and other two minor bands were observed in the pancreatic juice of normal rabbit. By the treatment of the juice with trypsin, only one band was produced on the isoelectric focusing. No procarboxypeptidase was appeared on the electrofocusing by the infusion of cholic acid or phospholipase A into the pancreatic duct of rabbit. However, a single major fraction of procarboxypeptidase-A was appeared at 3 hr after simple ligation of the pancreatic duct. No significant changes were observed in the juice of the alcohol or cholic acid administered group.
An Overtopping Wave Energy Convertor (OWEC) is an offshore wave energy convertor used for collecting overtopping waves and converting the water pressure head into electric power through hydro turbines installed in a vertical duct affixed to the sea bed. A numerical wave tank based on the commercial computational fluid dynamics code Fluent is established for the corresponding analysis. The Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation and two-phase VOF model are utilized to generate the 2D numerical linear propagating waves, which are validated by the overtopping experiment results. Calculations are made for several incident wave conditions and shape parameters for the overtopping device. Both the incident wave periods and heights have evident effects on the overtopping performance of the OWEC device. The computational analysis demonstrates that the present overtopping device is more compatible with longer incident wave periods.
Experiments were carried out to evaluate the air speed distribution of an enclosed nursery pig bay in summer and winter. The data taken by experiments were compared to validate with the calculated air speeds by a commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Air basically enters into the bay through perforated circular ducts overhanged on the ceiling, leaves through a exhaust fan attached on the end-wall of the bay. Air speeds were measured as 2 ${\sim}$ 2.5 mls at the perforated holes in the duct in winter and 7 mls in summer. The validation showed that a CFD simulaton is one of feasible methods to predict airspeed distribution in the nursery pig bay.
Objective: This study aimed to determine a factor for predicting suboptimal image quality of the hepatobiliary phase (HBP) of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI in patients with extrahepatic bile duct (EHD) cancer before MRI examination. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 259 patients (mean age ± standard deviation: 68.0 ± 8.3 years; 162 male and 97 female) with EHD cancer who underwent gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI between 2011 and 2017. Patients were divided into a primary analysis set (n = 184) and a validation set (n = 75) based on the diagnosis date of January 2014. Two reviewers assigned the functional liver imaging score (FLIS) to reflect the HBP image quality. The FLIS consists of the sum of three HBP features, each scored on a 0-2 scale: liver parenchymal enhancement, biliary excretion, and signal intensity of the portal vein. Patients were classified into low-FLIS (0-3) or high-FLIS (4-6) groups. Multivariable analysis was performed to determine a predictor of low FLIS using serum biochemical and imaging parameters of cholestasis severity. The optimal cutoff value for predicting low FLIS was obtained using receiver operating characteristic analysis, and validation was performed. Results: Of the 259 patients, 140 (54.0%) and 119 (46.0%) were classified into the low-FLIS and high-FLIS groups, respectively. In the primary analysis set, total bilirubin was an independent factor associated with low FLIS (adjusted odds ratio per 1-mg/dL increase, 1.62; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.32-1.98). The optimal cutoff value of total bilirubin for predicting low FLIS was 2.1 mg/dL with a sensitivity of 95.1% (95% CI: 88.9-98.4) and a specificity of 89.0% (95% CI: 80.2-94.9). In the validation set, the total bilirubin cutoff showed a sensitivity of 92.1% (95% CI: 78.6-98.3) and a specificity of 83.8% (95% CI: 68.0-93.8). Conclusion: Serum total bilirubin before acquisition of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI may help predict suboptimal HBP image quality in patients with EHD cancer.

A method was developed for analyzing the radiation heat transfer from the duct burner flame to the heat exchanger in a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) in order to supplement the existing thermal design process. The burner flame and the heat exchanger were considered to be imaginary planes, and the flame temperature, surface, and emissivity were simplified using an engineering approach. Three analysis cases in which the duct burner position and fuel were changed were considered. The calculated flame radiative heat transfer and local flux on the heating surface were compared with those of 3-atomic gas radiation and convection. In all analysis cases, heat transfer by 3-atomic gas radiation was very small. The ratio of the flame radiative heat transfer to the convection heat transfer on the heating surface was estimated to be as high as 8-41%. Moreover, the local heat flux on the heating surface centerline was dominated by flame radiative heat flux.
If one identifies the detailed distribution of pressure and axial velocity at a source plane, the position and strength of major noise sources can be known, and the propagation characteristics in axial direction can be well understood to be used for the low noise design. Conventional techniques are usually limited in considering the constant source characteristics specified on the whole source surface; then, the source activity cannot be known in detail. In this work, a method to estimate the pressure and velocity field distribution on the source surface with high spatial resolution is studied. The matrix formulation including the evanescent modes is given, and the nearfield measurement method is proposed. Validation experiment is conducted on a wide duct system, at which a part of the source plane is excited by an acoustic driver in the absence of airflow. Increasing the number of evanescent modes, the prediction of pressure spectrum becomes further precise, and it has less than -25 dB error with 26 converged evanescent modes within the Helmholtz number range of interest. By using the converged modal amplitudes, the source parameter distribution is restored, and the position of the driver is clearly identified at kR = 1. By applying the regularization technique to the restored result, the unphysical minor peaks at the source plane can be effectively suppressed with the filtering of the over-estimated pure radial modes.

There have been experiments dealing with the possibility of the actualization of the ANC system by means of operating the DSP adaptation filter. This filter is composed of various filters(including X-LMS algorithm, Filter-U algorithm, and Full-Feedback-Filter-U algorithm) that use ventilation fans and loudspeakers as a primary source in a circular duct as an experimental device. In this operation, the ANC system using the X - LMS algorithm was found to be more effective in reducing noise than without such system. When applying the input signal of the DSP board Full Feedback-Filtered-U algorithm system while having in mind that the additionally installed second control signal was gone through feedback and mixed into the detection microphone installed near the ventilation fan when using the first ventilation fan, the system was not emitted, but maintained stable during the operation of the control filter. At this point, noise tended to decrease at a maximum of l0dB compared to other algorithms at the frequency band of 170-250Hz.

In a large 3D printer when the cooler, which cools the filament, acts in one direction, the area directly exposed to the cooling is cooled to the proper temperature. However, the cooling effect on the opposite area is relatively less. It was found in experiments that filaments with a thickness of over 2 mm exhibit the cooling problem in one directional cooling. Consequently, cooling was performed to prevent the flow-down and to produce firm support leading to an improvement in product quality in extrusion. Further, the lay-up of a 3D printer with five guides combined with a duct was achieved. Analysis showed that the improvement in the cooling effect enables stable extrusion and lay-up and thus, reduces fabrication time.
